Like with the Saints supporters anger with Adkins recently, Chelsea fans will be too scared to protest in mass for fear of Abramovich pulling out his financial backing of the club. I shall raise my hat to any that are honest and open enough to tell Abramovich what they think of him and his constant culling of managers. Can't believe he'll be able to get away yet again with firing a decent manager who has served their club in exemplary fashion. |Money or sport, big bucks or football?

@chelseafc Merry Christmas Mister Abramovitch. Yet another Savior slaughtered in true Abramovitch and Chelsea FC Christmas Spirit. :(

You wish! Kaching! ££££

Tis a common joke in our industry, when we get a big order for cartridges we always ask 'do you want any paper with that?' many a lol has been had over the years.

Better than that, we even have a dress your area competition where each team dresses their desks on the Friday theme, obviously between now and Christmas that'll be the theme. On Friday we're all wearing comedy Christmas jumpers, the winners get to win £25 worth of Millbrook bowl vouchers for a team night out. :D

Chelsea should stick with a manager for the long term.....and win jack sh it for a decade like Arsenal.

Less than a season in charge and he won two of the biggest cup competitions available.

But yeah, that comparison definitely works.

Here's one for you: Can you name the trophy Arsenal have in their cabinet that no other prem team has ever won?

Mercantile Credit Centenary Trophy - Once off trophey to celebrate the 100th birthday of The Football League.

Said to be going in as caretaker at Chelsea until Summer IF they can't get Pep to come in earlier.

Why would someone like him but used as a stepping stone?

It is crazy to think of Benitez accepting a short-term appointment as just a seat-warmer for Guardiola unless he already has something lined up himself for the summer and this suits all parties. Man City? Back to Liverpool? He's even been linked with us! ;)

Heard this last night, probably b......x but there was some talk about him as Assistant Manager to NA... as I said probably rubbish but has anyone else heard this

As you said, probably rubbish.

Are you talking about everything you said, or just this?

List WBAs squad.

List Liverpools, Arsenals, Spurs, Newcastles, Sunderlands. All their squads cost far more than ours to assemble and they are all below West Brom.

You also have to remember we spent £1.8 million in 2011/12, and £150k in 2010/11. 3 year total spend £30.45

In the same period West Ham for example have spent £40 million on transfers. Fulham £30.4, Sunderland £68 million, Aston Villa £73.15 million, Stoke £46 million, Newcastle £41.75 million, QPR 39.4.

So we have had a League 1 squad and spent £30 million on it, some of those teams had premiership teams in the first place and had have spent way more on them than us. Just because we spent a lot this season doesn't instantly mean we should be doing well, it's not that Black and White.

I do laugh at people now saying we have a league one squad now, which is Why we are struggling. It's not a league one squad thought is it. Do you think Lambert, Lallana, Schniderlin, Cork, Fonte, Puncheon, K Davis and Sharp are league one players? Only a few months ago this 'league one sqaud' was labelled out best team ever, man for man better than our 2003 side and half of them should be in the England squad!!!

I heard zola, vialli and di matteo are all coming out of retirement to sign for us as we desperately need these sorts of players in the squad... gullit will manage

far too logical and sensible for here!

The other issue, teams in premiership find it much easier to hold onto talent as well.

Adding three or four players for £20m helps and raises expectations - but doesn't suddenly make a championship side (or league 1 side) good enough for a guaranteed easy ride in the premiership.

Teams can over or under perform compared to the cost to assemble (e.g. WBA v QPR) but to say the injection of a few players into our squad means we are underperforming is too simplistic, short-sighted and shows a lack of understanding of what it takes to build a premiership squad

Cheers GS, as I said it was just something that I heard from someone, nothing more. Thought this forum was about discussing issues in the news or being talked about, this was being talked about last night in Lyndhurst and it is probably rubbish, it has been mentioned before that NC and DiMateo are mates

over the last few years, most of those have played most of their football in league 1.

Do you think if Newcastle or Sunderland or QPR signed those players a few months ago their fans would be excited on their forums at signing 1st team premiership players? No. If their forums are like here they would have been suicidal at their clubs lack of ambition signing lower league players.

Personally think most, not all, of your list are good enough for the premiership.

Who's saying that?

We had a league 1 squad. £30m takes account of the money spent to replace the likes of Patterson, Lancashire, Wotton, Perry, Thomas, James etc - all league 1 players, if not lower.
