Loan target for Crawley I have been told. How much of a disappointment has this guy been?

Remember his You Tube clips and promising debut but we haven't seen much from him.

Not sure he would really stand out in League One either.

I actually think he has a lot of talent but seems to have little or no confidence in himself.

Shame really because at his age, he should be flying by now but looks likely to never fulfill any potential within the higher echelons of the game.

Surprised he is still here to be honest, and he's better than Crawley. Could do a job in the NPC no problem if given the chance. Just needs to have a bit more end product. He did have some promising games for us and was a good option off the bench last year against tiring defenders.

He should really be a target for Charlton, should tear up L1 as Forte is/was with Crawley.

Such a frustrating player last year though, never seemed able to improve on his clear weakness in crossing and seemed to be devoid of any decision making/composure towards the end of the season (going clean through in the last few mins in more than one game to stick it out for a goal kick was pretty depressing).

Sad though, seeing as he seemed to have a lot going for him, just never really had the ability to make it count.

Strange player is De Ridder, a cult character among fans and his goal against Reading was fantastic but he was like a headless chicken most of the time. His performance vs Pompey though ranks among some of the worst I've ever seen, he was just awful.

Has all the attributes but consistency remains his problem.

We've seen in flashes what he's capable of (Reading away) but more often than not he's disappointed.

A loan spell away from the club where he can play regularly and rebuild his confidence would suit all parties - I hope he's allowed to leave on a temporary basis, for his sake as much as anyone's.

Such a strange player.

I remember him pulling the West Broms full backs pants down continuously on his debut and thinking he was the real deal . At the time I also thought having De Ridder softened the blow of losing Chamberlain.

However other than when he came on against Reading where he was unplayable - he has been utter w*nk. Shame really as he seems a nice lad and I do think there's some talent in there somewhere - needs to move on to rediscover it.

Charlton are a Championship team.

Yeah my point didn't come across right, De Ridder should be a beast in L1 really. A lower end champ team (Charlton my best example) could be a good outlet for him to get some good games under his belt.

Plays like he's barely thinking, has talent but not the mentality to make the most of it.

He would be a sensational signing for Crawley though.

More disappointed with De Ridder than any of our signings in recent years. Promised lots, but is actually a complete load of tosh. Offers absolutely nothing.

Runs into blind alleys, loses the ball and has no end product. A non-player really. Needs to move on ASAP.

I think he could do a decent job in the championship. The problem is he never suited our style of play and seemed on a completely different wavelength from the other players. We played with the likes of Lallana and Guly cutting in from wide and into central possitions. Steve is much more the traditional wide man, running for the by-line with chalk on his laces.

Let's not demonise him as being useless. Aside from the Reading game he came on and made a big difference at home to Ipswich and at Coventry and he had a decent game on Boxing Day against Palace. He also changed the game when he came on at Cardiff but it was far too late to make a difference. There were other decent performances too, just not consistent enough to make the spot his own.

Good luck to him wherever he ends up. Seems a nice lad (on twitter anyway) and clearly has some tallent.

What potential? He's quick, that's about all there is to say about him.

It's the same crap we had with Antonio, he beats a few average full backs with his pace and suddenly he's the next big thing.

Some players have played well for us and poorly at other clubs. I feel that De Ridder has done the opposite. He may well find a team in which he can really shine at championship level.

Never really got the hate for De Ridder, he was never brilliant as a player, but he used his main assett, which was his speed to his advantage, often did his job quite well as an impact sub.

I saw him in Romsey the other day, he was with a mate and they were both walking around like everyone knew who they were. Steve in particular irritated me because he was walking like a rapper whilst wearing grey joggers and a flat peaked baseball cap.

So for this reason alone I'd like to see him balling for Crawley town!

Come on, Antonio was twice the player De Ridder was was for us...

He'd fit in well at Crawley then...

He was quick, that was it. We'd might aswell have got Usain Bolt instead.

Where is anyone saying he's the next best thing? Most are saying he can do a job in the champ.

sigh, I player with pace but not giving the chance. will probs go on loan become amazing and will go to big club with a pole between his arse cheeks. waste of talent in my opinion

What type of pole? The type you run flags up or the eastern european type?

Why are people still talking about this clown?

Because he is a Saints player who is being linked with another club?

He isn't the inbred offspring of Branfoot and his sister that we keep locked in the attic and don't talk about. Christ, the way some people are going on at him you'd think he'd been caught drowning puppies.

We will have to rename this Skacel syndrome I think. "I saw a 3 minute youtube video of all the goals he scored in a year and he looked world class. Apparently he isn't world class, what a c**t!"

God you're a prat. Can't resist it can you? Even though you understood the context of what he was saying in your eagerness to jump on the correcting people bandwagon yet again

Since Stoke is topical and a hospice for ex-Saints, why not send Steeeeeeeeeeeeve to potter about up there? Probably has twice as much talent as the whole of Pulis' side put together.

I guess Gary Nevilles Monday night football analysis on Stokes goal this evening was lost on you.
