Spudders Posted 18 November, 2012 Share Posted 18 November, 2012 I can’t believe I got to the age of 38 without knowing this can happen. It worries me there may be other people out there who are also unaware of this fact, which means waffles can be ready in literally minutes, without any need of pre-heating grills, so I wanted to share this with you all. Please feel free to share any other cooking tips, especially junk food related ones.

latter day saint Posted 18 November, 2012 Share Posted 18 November, 2012 Potato cakes can be done in the toaster. i'm wondering if other potato items could also be toasted? Hash Browns, Smilies ? i suppose 1 of those thick/thin toasters would be best for this or it could get a bit messy.

latter day saint Posted 18 November, 2012 Share Posted 18 November, 2012 Good thinking, maybe chips as well Extra chunky ones would be best for this. if your toasters got a really wide slot ( ) maybe you could put bread either side & have a toasted chip butty ! Spudders Posted 18 November, 2012 Author Share Posted 18 November, 2012 I think the toast would burn before the chips even started to defrost

scotty Posted 18 November, 2012 Share Posted 18 November, 2012 Get a combination microwave/grill roast tatties in 15mins Thats cheating. Roast spuds deserve much better than that, you might as well buy frozen ones. scotty's roast spud solution: peeled king edwards or maris pipers, boil for 7 minutes while the duck fat or oil/butter heats up nicely in the oven at 200 degrees. Sling them into a sieve and shake them about until the surface is fluffy, straight into the fat, stir them til their coated, sprinkle of salt and cook for 45 minutes until they are crispy. Jobs a good'un.

tpbury Posted 19 November, 2012 Share Posted 19 November, 2012 One reason I like veggie burgers - 2 minutes from freezer to stomach via microwave. And, I had the potato waffle/toaster deal done 25 years ago - excellent post pub snack. Also frozen doughnuts in the microwave, but mind that hot jam! The cheapest lunch you can possibly get over here in Australia is packet noodles - 30c a pack from Woolies. I practically live on them. The joys of haute cuisine! tpbury Posted 20 November, 2012 Share Posted 20 November, 2012 What??? Where's the meat! It's only you don't have to worry about uncooked meat with meat products. Most veggie burgers are totally sythentic, so doesn't really matter if a bit is still frozen when you eat it. I just like the idea of super quick home based hot food.
