Newcastle build-up thread

I hope all the people that are advocating playing Boruc have seen him display the alleged qualities enough times in important games for his previous teams, because he sure has hell hasn't displayed much quality in his three games for the club so far conceding nine goals.

Personally I'd give Gazza another game. Anyway Rickie's best position is up front.

Gazza hasn't been stable in goal. He has some great reflexes and he makes some nice saves, however he is far too inexperienced and that showed on the QPR goal.

I'd say play Boruc and see if it works out, if not then go all out Gazza.

Boruc deserves another game before he gets thrown off the team like the situation is now. We knew he was a hothead when we offered him a contract, so what he did shouldn't come as any surprise.

To be honest, no, we haven't seen him enough times

He has been no worse than the others... Just that he has more ability and experience to call upon

IMO

I just hope Nile Ranger doesn't play.

Must admit I thought he was doing time at another club (or perhaps just doing time) but it seems he is back at Newcastle, but seems unlikely he will play:

"Fallen England youth international striker Ranger was drafted back into the first-team pool due to lack of numbers this week – but still has a long way to go if he is to come back into first-team contention.

Absolute meltdown on the Newcastle forum I was just looking at. Similar to what this place has been like for a big chunk of the season. Apparently can't defend, no creativity in midfield apart from Ben Arfa, Pardew hasn't got a clue, they won't win away etc etc. Lets hope they have a tough game on Thursday and the lads put in some decent work in training this week. Even if Newcastle are playing sh*t, they'll more than likely be a LOT more dangerous than QPR were.

That said, with their poor form and 2 decent performances on the bounce for us, they're there for the taking.

They are finding out that Pardew has little idea tactically and it was only a matter of time before he was found wanting. He will not repeat last year's results.....We can win this IF we don't take a twelve bore to our feet again defensively...

Was one of the most coveted goalkeepers in the world at one stage.

But then again, Kelvin Davis is better, right? :scared:

You stayed away for a while and became less irritating because of it. Ridiculous posts like this are the reason some posters find you so annoying.

So your saying that NC doesn't decide whether we sign a player or not. Very interesting. I thought mlg's post was valid in this case. Yours was claptrap.

I think what they're finding out is that when you have first teamers injured the replacements aren't quite as good. They have defenders out don't they? If we had to go back to Jos (as we did against West Ham) we'd notice that it's not the same as with José and Maya. In the last 2 weeks we have seen the massive difference between Steve Davis and Jack Cork.

The massive difference between Jack Cork and Steven Davis played in their optimum positions compared with a Steven Davis shoehorned into something he isn't really good to do...

Davis has shown since his debut against City that he is good going forward, just hampered when given way too many deep lying/defensive duties. Cork is a beast in that area which is nice to have back.

Despite the huge length of his new contract, Pardew must be feeling the pressure after their recent poor form. Interesting that he spoke on the radio today in support of Di Matteo. Maybe trying to pre-empt the hype that is bound to surround his position if we beat them. So, all the pressure on him and Nige will know how to turn it to our advantage. Have a good feeling about this.

The way things are shaping, this could be a winnable game. However, they will have players coming into contention that might decide they want to show their worth and have a stormer. Difficult to call - if we turn up - pressure them on the ball, keep tight at the back, we could get a really important win. Massive confidence boost for the team to win against Pardews boys.

Football can do whatever it likes so long as we get three points, a win would be a massive result for us, two on the bounce would do wonders for belief (I hope!)

4 of our next 5 at at home and all winnable. Above all else though I Just hope everyone has a good day out and that everyone goes home happy.

Sounds good...

Injuries to Hatem Ben Arfa and Pa**** Cisse soured Newcastle's evening.

Ben Arfa damaged his hamstring and is likely to miss Sunday's game at Southampton, while Cisse suffered a kick to his thigh but could feature at St Mary's.

IIRC the last time we got our hopes sky high based on our opponent's injury crisis we were whacked 3-0 at Brighton and lost Rickie to a straight-red. Football has a way of poking you in the eye with that stick.

I'm much more concerned that we quickly establish our brand of front-foot football and score when the chances come, which we didn't do at Brighton.

We did score at Brighton, in the first half, only the blind linesman didn't see the ball crossing the line! Let's hope for better luck at the weekend
