hutch Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 3 points same team, Ramirez fitter, lambert back in goals full house surely, 3 points. Personally I'd give Gazza another game. Anyway Rickie's best position is up front.
derry Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 I hope all the people that are advocating playing Boruc have seen him display the alleged qualities enough times in important games for his previous teams, because he sure has hell hasn't displayed much quality in his three games for the club so far conceding nine goals.
Zlavik Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 Personally I'd give Gazza another game. Anyway Rickie's best position is up front. Gazza hasn't been stable in goal. He has some great reflexes and he makes some nice saves, however he is far too inexperienced and that showed on the QPR goal. I'd say play Boruc and see if it works out, if not then go all out Gazza. Boruc deserves another game before he gets thrown off the team like the situation is now. We knew he was a hothead when we offered him a contract, so what he did shouldn't come as any surprise.
Thedelldays Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 I hope all the people that are advocating playing Boruc have seen him display the alleged qualities enough times in important games for his previous teams, because he sure has hell hasn't displayed much quality in his three games for the club so far conceding nine goals. To be honest, no, we haven't seen him enough times He has been no worse than the others... Just that he has more ability and experience to call upon IMO
T.REX Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 Watch out for the goal from Mike Williamson... But we will win. I just hope Nile Ranger doesn't play.
S-Clarke Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 Wow, they really will be stretched. That's a big chunk of their spine ripped out.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 Shame they don't desperately need a win on Thursday really.
VectisSaint Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 I just hope Nile Ranger doesn't play. Must admit I thought he was doing time at another club (or perhaps just doing time) but it seems he is back at Newcastle, but seems unlikely he will play: "Fallen England youth international striker Ranger was drafted back into the first-team pool due to lack of numbers this week – but still has a long way to go if he is to come back into first-team contention. captainchris Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 Absolute meltdown on the Newcastle forum I was just looking at. Similar to what this place has been like for a big chunk of the season. Apparently can't defend, no creativity in midfield apart from Ben Arfa, Pardew hasn't got a clue, they won't win away etc etc. Lets hope they have a tough game on Thursday and the lads put in some decent work in training this week. Even if Newcastle are playing sh*t, they'll more than likely be a LOT more dangerous than QPR were. That said, with their poor form and 2 decent performances on the bounce for us, they're there for the taking. They are finding out that Pardew has little idea tactically and it was only a matter of time before he was found wanting. He will not repeat last year's results.....We can win this IF we don't take a twelve bore to our feet again defensively...
Crab Lungs Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 To be honest, no, we haven't seen him enough times He has been no worse than the others... Just that he has more ability and experience to call upon IMO Was one of the most coveted goalkeepers in the world at one stage. But then again, Kelvin Davis is better, right?
Saint86 Posted 20 November, 2012 Posted 20 November, 2012 You stayed away for a while and became less irritating because of it. Ridiculous posts like this are the reason some posters find you so annoying. So your saying that NC doesn't decide whether we sign a player or not. Very interesting. I thought mlg's post was valid in this case. Yours was claptrap.
Window Cleaner Posted 20 November, 2012 Posted 20 November, 2012 They are finding out that Pardew has little idea tactically and it was only a matter of time before he was found wanting. He will not repeat last year's results.....We can win this IF we don't take a twelve bore to our feet again defensively... I think what they're finding out is that when you have first teamers injured the replacements aren't quite as good. They have defenders out don't they? If we had to go back to Jos (as we did against West Ham) we'd notice that it's not the same as with José and Maya. In the last 2 weeks we have seen the massive difference between Steve Davis and Jack Cork.
pingwing Posted 20 November, 2012 Posted 20 November, 2012 In the last 2 weeks we have seen the massive difference between Steve Davis and Jack Cork. The massive difference between Jack Cork and Steven Davis played in their optimum positions compared with a Steven Davis shoehorned into something he isn't really good to do... Davis has shown since his debut against City that he is good going forward, just hampered when given way too many deep lying/defensive duties. Cork is a beast in that area which is nice to have back.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 20 November, 2012 Posted 20 November, 2012 I just hope Nile Ranger doesn't play. Nile Ranger and Boruc on the same pitch that should be interesting! my money would be on Boruc after watching him lay into his own celtic full back on You tube
Nutwood2 Posted 21 November, 2012 Posted 21 November, 2012 Despite the huge length of his new contract, Pardew must be feeling the pressure after their recent poor form. Interesting that he spoke on the radio today in support of Di Matteo. Maybe trying to pre-empt the hype that is bound to surround his position if we beat them. So, all the pressure on him and Nige will know how to turn it to our advantage. Have a good feeling about this.
Saint_lambden Posted 21 November, 2012 Posted 21 November, 2012 They really are there for the taking. Injuries, poor form etc. 3-1 win. Again.
Plumstead_Saint Posted 21 November, 2012 Posted 21 November, 2012 Really interesting interview with Nigel that I hadn't seen before. Apologies if you have. Offers an amazing insight into his character, past, match preparation, attention to detail and has some great anecdotes too. Cheers for the link. good interview
Saint Fan CaM Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 The way things are shaping, this could be a winnable game. However, they will have players coming into contention that might decide they want to show their worth and have a stormer. Difficult to call - if we turn up - pressure them on the ball, keep tight at the back, we could get a really important win. Massive confidence boost for the team to win against Pardews boys.
Saint Charlie Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Newcastle playing tonight, Tiote suspended so he won't play but will be interesting to see how strong a team they field.
Dig Dig Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Collocini starts Isn't he banned for Sunday though?
Window Cleaner Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Isn't he banned for Sunday though? he is indeed
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Isn't he banned for Sunday though? Yup. His ban is just for domestic games so cue can play tonight but not Sunday.
scotsaintsfan Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Hoping for another win to kick on from the QPR game, going for 2-1 saints win
Ziggy Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 I always get excited this close to a home game! Can't wait for Sunday and really think we can get three points.
Saint_Ash Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Cisse off injured now aswell! Sky sports commentary says rested, I still think cisse and ba will torrorise pur back line but hopefully we'll score more.
Pamplemousse Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 From BBC Football live text... Jamie Hardesty on Twitter: "I'd have rather lost this game 5-0 than see Ben Arfa walk down the tunnel injured. Southampton will walk all over us on Sunday." If Ben Arfa is out injured, our chances of winning increase significantly.
JustinR Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Cisse is injured rather than being rested. Recurrence of his back problem apparently. Never wanna see players injured blah blah blah but they're down to the bare bones now, if we don't win Sunday we're crap
saint_disco123 Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 bit of a boost that ben afra is injured but lets not just fall on that to do well, we should look to win even if he was playing!
Saint_Jonny Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Back to back wins would be massive. We can win this one, fa' sure.
Turkish Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Does anyone else just hope football is the winner?
UpweySaint Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Does anyone else just hope football is the winner? Football can do whatever it likes so long as we get three points, a win would be a massive result for us, two on the bounce would do wonders for belief (I hope!)
Turkish Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Football can do whatever it likes so long as we get three points, a win would be a massive result for us, two on the bounce would do wonders for belief (I hope!) 4 of our next 5 at at home and all winnable. Above all else though I Just hope everyone has a good day out and that everyone goes home happy.
sfc4prem Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 I'm feeling positive about our next 5 games.
Turkish Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 I'm feeling positive about our next 5 games. At least 10 points I reakon.
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Football can do whatever it likes so long as we get three points, a win would be a massive result for us, two on the bounce would do wonders for belief (I hope!) Great demonstration of belief there :-)
Tokyo-Saint Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Sounds good... Injuries to Hatem Ben Arfa and Pa**** Cisse soured Newcastle's evening. Ben Arfa damaged his hamstring and is likely to miss Sunday's game at Southampton, while Cisse suffered a kick to his thigh but could feature at St Mary's. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20336202 Newcastle's injured players Hatem Ben Arfa (hamstring) Pa**** Cisse (thigh) Ryan Taylor (knee) Dan Gosling (knee) Yohan Cabaye (groin) Haris Vuckic (knee) Shola Ameobi (groin) Jonas Gutierrez (knee) James Perch (thigh) Adam Campbell (neck)
Dig Dig Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Adam Campbell has to be the biggest blow for them
Dig Dig Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Is that how he injured his neck? Probably, try it and see. It's certainly hazardous.
CanadaSaint Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 IIRC the last time we got our hopes sky high based on our opponent's injury crisis we were whacked 3-0 at Brighton and lost Rickie to a straight-red. Football has a way of poking you in the eye with that stick. I'm much more concerned that we quickly establish our brand of front-foot football and score when the chances come, which we didn't do at Brighton.

We did score at Brighton, in the first half, only the blind linesman didn't see the ball crossing the line! Let's hope for better luck at the weekend
Thedelldays Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 ben arfa and cisse are also doubts on sunday....never will there be a better time to play them at home
jawillwill Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 IIRC last time we played Newcastle, we were in the middle of an injury crisis and everyone thought Newcastle would thrash us. It ended 3-3. (actually, we've played them a few times since then I know)
