Newcastle build-up thread

If you look at Newcastles performance against West Ham they were pretty flat and that game came 3 days after they played in the Europa Leauge....

Next week will be the same story for them so that gives me great hope that they could do such a flat performance against us too...

As much as I hate to be negative after yesterday's win, I can't see us getting anything from the Newcastle game. They've got 2 big, strong and pacy forwards and a midfield that rarely loses possession. Their weakness, like us, is their defence, so perhaps we could capitalise on that.

However, we should definitely line up like we did in the last 2 games, although if I were Nige I might toy with the idea of putting Boruc in for Gazza.

A lot will depend on Cabaye's status I'd guess. He pulled out of the French squad midweek with some sort of muscular problem and didn't play yesterday. Whether that was because of the 5 day rule (Like Cissé) or whether he's still not fit I just don't know.

Will be interesting to see what reception Pardew gets.

Hope it's a good one. Helped rebuild our club from it's lowest point, won us our 1st piece of silverware since 76 and in signing Lambert (and yes I do think it was his signing, not Cortese's) got us somebody who has ultimately scored the goals which has had a major influence in returning this club to the Premier League.

Looking at our form of our fixtures until the end of the year, I'm feeling very positive. Liverpool away will be a toughy, and even they can be beaten. Hopefully our victory yesterday isn't just papering over the cracks and we can really push on from this. A draw against Newcastle would be a good result.

Everyone saying unchanged, but I wonder if Adkins will toy with the idea of fox coming in for Shaw. This isn't because I think fox is better, infact the opposite. Shaw won't be able to play Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday as he cannot even finish 90 minutes. Usually he could miss the midweek game but with it against Norwich this is where we should play our strongest team. We may find that the squad is utilised for these 3 games. Could see gazza, Clyne, fonte, yoshi, fox, Schneiderlin, cork, Davis, Puncheon, Lallana, Lambert.

Absolute meltdown on the Newcastle forum I was just looking at. Similar to what this place has been like for a big chunk of the season. Apparently can't defend, no creativity in midfield apart from Ben Arfa, Pardew hasn't got a clue, they won't win away etc etc. Lets hope they have a tough game on Thursday and the lads put in some decent work in training this week. Even if Newcastle are playing sh*t, they'll more than likely be a LOT more dangerous than QPR were.

That said, with their poor form and 2 decent performances on the bounce for us, they're there for the taking.

No Cabaye for Newcastle for up to six weeks.

I hate when players get injured and miss games but the cynical side of me says, good news for us for sunday....

Superb news for us, Cabaye is class.

how long will it be before the "toon army" turn on "cockney" Pardew..?

It's probably always been bubbling along under the surface. Makes that 8 year contract even more ridiculous. Not because Pardew isn't any good, but because their fans are quick to turn if it's not "one of there own"

There is so much to be positive about ahead of Sunday.

It has been bloody tough so far, obviously, but it is clear that Adkins still has the dressing room and the unity was there for all to see on Saturday, a result and performance like that will send their confidence sky high.

Newcastle are in a slump, playing Thursday night and will be without Cabaye who makes them tick, Tiote breaks up play but it is Cabaye who creates

And with a full house supporting the team on the back of a brilliant win it is easy to be optimistic about our chances.

Lots of positives for this game:-

- We've just won and they have lost.

- We're at home.

- They are in poor form, one win in seven.

- Two key players in Cabaye and Colocini out.

- They are playing on Thursday we aren't.

Same team bar Boruc coming in for Gazza. Hopefully a win, the elusive clean sheet and out of the relegation zone (with Wigan and Reading drawing and Arsenal thrashing Villa) :)

I wouldn't leave Ramirez out of the line up and being a professional PL football club I sure we have conditioning and medical staff who know how to prepare the players for 3 games in quick succession. Shaw would probably start all 3 with Fox coming on with about 20 minutes left to play.
