I was there and I can't agree with that assessment of Puncheon.

Otherwise we are all in agreement - Cork Puncheon Lallana, Lambert, Shaw, Clyne were all excellent.

Jose did ok as did Maya, bar one mistake. Nearly made up for it with overhead kick though.

Ramirez still doesn't quite cut it for me, but he was getting better just before he came off, and made a couple of good tackles helping out in defence.

Hopefully he is getting fitter, or more used to Premiere League style of play, or whatever it is.

Atmosphere and support for Nige was excellent.

Thoroughly enjoyable game...for a change!

Said it on here yesterday. A club our size needs such a big signing to really make a difference. He's not doing enough for me.

Thankyou for the report but I must call question on this bit.

Even Adkins stated it was his best game in a saints shirt, watching online he was instrumental in the first half, retaining the ball, linking play and distributing well going forward as well as pulling their full back all over the place. He seems to be striking up a great rapport with Clyne and alongside Cork was our most impotant player today for me.

Aside from Gazza everyone played brilliantly today mind. Nice place to be where we can debate who did the best for us in a 3-1 win! :D

Ah, yeah thought that would come up, I just felt it took the goal for him to get going into the game, spent the first 40 mins not really chasing the ball (though no one does that as such in this system, more everyone sticks to their areas) but he then seemed to be the weak link in doubling up on their left side players with Clyne/Morgan. So when they had the ball there was a few moments of all 3 of them closing down 2 in that area (as they have to) but Punch wasn't all that effective/helpful and more just going through the motions. Then in the breakaway phase he wasn't really interested in making an easy pass/run when they had no one at left back/covering, which is a shame as he would have been great being the on the break sort of player if he had the energy/work rate to do it earlier on.

Credit to him he really picked it up once the cut inside and hit it hard worked very well for the second goal, I just felt he was a bit lackluster in the first 40 odd mins and needs a bit of a kick to put in 90 great mins as that would really make him a premier league player.

It is nice for once to not point the finger for a loss and debate where it could have been 5 or 6 :D (and for Punch's second cause he could have had at least 3 which is a nice change)

Oh and the gaa loving gf thought Gazza was at least a beast of a gaa keeper and a decent keeper all round which is entertaining to hear (and interesting praise)

Overall a good performance, but it has to be said QPR for all their talent are a poor team. Thought Ramirez looked a bit lazy out of possession in the first half but put it about a bit more in the second. For all our nice interplay in midfield and up front I felt we didn't create enough decent chances first half. Second half we had enough to have put the game to be alot earlier.

A lot of good performances, Lallana, Puncheon, Cork, Shaw and Clyne all had good games. Thought Lambert on the whole was great but didn't seem fully on song, misplacing a fair few passes and looking pretty tired by midway through the second half. My special mention has to go to Fonte though. He didn't have a huge amount to do but I think it says something about the man that his life in the Premier League started so badly yet in the last few matches he has looked a lot more composed.

Sad that I rely on my football team so much to give my weekends a pep up but this is the best I've felt on a saturday night in quite a while.

Just from watching the MOTD highlights you can see how well we played. Puncheon was brilliant in his decisiveness and directness, he could have had a hat trick. You can tell the coaches have been working on him.

Yes, Gazzaniga was in no man's land for their goal but I thought the fact that Hoilett had a free, unchallenged header with no defender within two yards was a bigger issue. Gazza also made a good save at his near post from Taarabt in the first half, but his handling was suspect. We should stick with him though, just needs a bit of work on the training pitch. Davis is sadly a lost cause at this level and Boruc hasn't been anywhere near good enough to make him a necessary change.

Hansen was raving about our interplay and build up play and we got better as the game went on.

Newcastle lost at home to Swansea today so can we beat them? Oh yes. We have some seriously winnable games coming up.

it felt dirty....also, gazza was utterly terrible today...

We know Sailor Boy you keep telling us. Unfortunately we have Gazza who flaps, Kelvin who lets things in all over the shop, especially his near post.

We also have a fat ex-Poland keeper who is past it and has attitude issues. Give the kid some time.

We've picked up points in most games Gazza has played. (Villa, Fulham, Swansea, QPR)

Yes, he is the best of a poor lot. Now, if we could get Boruc to give up the burgers.......

Amazed Hansen was so positive about us! Also highlights make punch look world class. Going forward good, stand by for the first 40 mins he was only interested going forward and not doing the defensive work well enough.

Phew I thought it was bad here screaming at the tv that no one picked up Hoilett on the way in the box, seemed harsh to blame Gazza not storming out too early...

That was the best performance from saints I've seen this season.....just a shame I had to watch it in the QPR end and had to remain mute throughout our three goals..........

Great TEAM performance and what a difference Cork has made to the midfield.

Puncheon was superb (well mostly) as was Lallana, Cork, Lambert, Clyne, Shaw. Bit worried about gazza though. I was sat directly in line with the 18yd box at the end they scored and he really should have come and claimed that or sat on his line and made a comfortable save. Still, he's learning and it wouldn't be the same if we made life easy for ourselves would it?

Onwards and upwards. An out of sorts Newcastle next then my next game at SMS against an in form canaries.....Four points from those two would be nice.......How much do we regret that Swansea equaliser last week now?

Well done on the win, I was hoping youd score 2 or 3 more to help get Hughes out.

For those that go on about Adkins tactics, bringing on a sub and going to 5 in midfield turned the game when Saints were losing control. Hughes is clueless so Im hoping that this is the final straw.

Only 3 players tried for us today, Nelsen, Taarabt and Mackie.

If you saw Harry on MoTD, that was telling. Respectfully declined not to talk about it, but I think the mind is made up. Expect developments on Monday, Flyer.

I thought your signings were world class?

Yes, many of them are World class. But as Hansen observed on Match of the Day, they find it hard to work together as a team, whereas he was full of praise for the way that we play for each other. He said that there weren't the big egos in the team. All in all, I think that it was the most complimentary praise from a MOTD pundit that I can ever remember.

Warched the ful match on Sky. Great performance, great result. Our frailties and weaknesses are still there, BUT I will say it again - this is what you would expect from such a young side - that that includes Gazza, whose mistakes showed a lack of experience, not alack of quality - he has potential. Not sure why some are not convinced by Gastom. Through out his stint he oozed class, accurate passes and showed he will grow into the prem. Many players from foreign fields, especially SA seem to take a while to adjust to the prem's pace, sometimes a season or more, yet he is already proving that when back to full fitness, will be a handful more most sides and will be instrumental in a lot of games.

Puch was MOTM imho, he was everywhere - I dont know what was sais between NC and Punch last season, but whatever it was has done the trick and hes been like a new signing. Shaw showed why many top clubs are sniffing around, I just hope we can convince the lad that he wil get the the 100k week bracket in time and does not need to look for short cuts warming the bench elsewhere.

Adam, Rickie, back to their best, Clyne also showing us again the quality he showed aganst City, and Fonte and Yosh, much better, but with more games we would hope less 'moments' - Fox and Davis looked much more assured in their roles today, maybe the poor opposition, but confidence seems to make a big difference to Fox and he did his job.

Overall some lovely moments of play, lads and Nige did us proud. I know some struggle with the 4231 thing that Nige is playing, but now we have players back from injury, it seems to be working again.... and does entertain, which is afterall the reason why we want to watch. Top stuff.

Punch not doing his defensive work? Really? He always tracks-back to cover his man and Clyne is never exposed in the same way Shaw/Fox are (even though that has been better the last two matches). Puncheon was world-class yesterday.

Eventhough Gazza was to blame for the goal some blame has to go to the defense. Hoilett was totally unmarked which was probably why Gazza felt he needed to leave his line. I think it was Lallana who was marking Hoilett on the edge of the box but didn't follow him in but it seems to me that someone else should have picked up him there instead of our left-winger.

I have been the first to criticise Fox this year, but it's true that the right side generally works better than the left. I think this is because the right midfield work back whereas Adam often doesn't. He would be better suited to being behind a striker than having to plough the wing - which is not to detract from the fact he is a very gifted footballer who creates from nothing.

Hoilett worked himself into clear space in the middle of a triangle between Fonté,Lallana and Maya (who has Cissé behind him so can't do much although Cissé might have given him a bit of a shove) Free header unless Gazza comes out and claims it.

After having played all the top teams' date=' I knew the wins would start coming once we started playing the teams below us. Roll on QPR at home :-)[/quote']

Top teams, bottom teams, there are no easy wins in the PL. Looked at Norwich -Man U yesterday and I thought Man U looked worse than some of the supposedly poorer teams that we've played so far, no midfield,no attack and a bit of an iffy defence.
