QPR Post Match.

Great result! Had 3-1 with Ramirez to score anytime but not even that takes any shine off today! Solid performance, not too many mistakes and the boys kept to their task. Some of our football was superb, but we can still be guilty of over-playing. We can improve on this performance (which has to be viewed as a positive!).

Puncheon excellent, Luke Shaw out of this world for a 17 year old. Might consider dropping Gazza, but only if Fonte/Yoshida want this to happen.

Happy, happy, happy

Ave IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So pleased with that. And Swansea win at Newcastle which puts a different light on our domination of them last week and instills new belief that we should beat the toon next week. If we do, and then pick up a couple more wins in this 'easy' November run the worries are going to disappear quick sharp style, and hopefully won't return.

Great interview from Nige on Sky. Not over the top about it, feet firmly on the ground, but you can sense a bit more inner satisfaction to him.

Top man.

Who could blame him for being a bit smug. When he's left to it he's a very good manger as proven in the last two games.

is it wrong to think gazza is pretty poor..?[/QUOTE]

No it's not...... I agree with that.

The streamed commentary I listened to had Birtles (ex Forest) as expert commentator and he went ballistic at Gazza poor positioning.

He came out unnessarily in the first half and missed a ball which fortunately went over the bar, and did the same thing again when QPR scored.

YES .....he is a good prospect, but his sloppy effort last week cost us 2 points and if it wasn't for the defence this week he might have conceded more.

Can't believe that Boruc and Davis can be 2nd /3rd choices! Let's not forget that QPR are where they are, I fear that a strong team with a couple of good strikers might make a real mess of him.

Nice win Nigel, but surely we can do better for a goalie.

nothing to do with getting Cork, Ramirez and Shaw back from injury and perhaps Adkins realising that we need to protect fullbacks? Nah, it's all down Cortese taking a back seat from team selection. Just enjoy the win

He should never have been taken off v Man Utd.

Given the backing as Clyne gives...could be a great team/squad player..

Well done Saints..:D Well done Punch and Corky.

Cork has come back to side and helped Morgan to raise his game and Saints start to play football.

We can beat Newcastle and Norwich:)

COYS

Special mention to young Shaw...

Echo all of what you've said Ottery!

Onwards and upwards!

So Adkins has only realised in the last two games he needs to protect the full backs?! I'm an enjoying the win and I'm enjoying Adkins being vindicated!

Great result, well done to the lads. Seems we play better when I don't sit and listen to away games. Pity Reading won, but mid table beckons.

Where is Alpine by the way? Conspicuous by his absence.

Alps is a Saints supporter and is being treated for shock at the medical centre.;)

Or he is on his way back home after the game:rolleyes:

Or he is still cheering the Pompey home result.:D

Who cares..:smug:

The mighty Saints are on the move:)

Yes. But despite that many didn't doubt Adkins, didn't think he needed to be vindicated AND don't think Cortese has interfered.

You could see the defence were taking no risks today,if in doubt just hoof it as hard as you can and it worked !! we were outstanding at some parts today reminded me of like how the old Arsenal used to play, but lets not get carried away,QPR were awful and are bottom for a reason,we showed a lot more passion and fight than them which can only be a good thing.

What does Adkins do? He likes to show faith in players and give then a run of games, but he'd gone up a blind alley with the keepers. Is anyone convinced by the other two?

YES but today was the first game I've seen this season where I was pleased with the defensive display. You might say that a goalie is only as good as the defence in front of him.

People condemned KD after the Arsenal game, but his defence was all at sea, and two of those were OG's and two more were " unstoppable ".

Gazza has made a number of point-costing errors and should be rested IMHO, unless he shows better positioning in the next two games. I dread thinking of him in goal at Anfield.

Back to Boruc or KD ....in no particular order. At least they have some experience.

Very pleased at the result, and the nature of the performance.

But forgive me if I remain reserved until we demonstrate the ability to perform like this against teams other than the only one below us in the table.

Very true. This result is big, but how we kick on from it is far more important.

You are forgiven, about as close to a positive comment as we could expect. Hope the back is better soon.

I agree. However, we still had the opportunity to go to pieces when it went to 1-2, and we didn't. That was very telling for me that at last we had more solidarity and self-belief. If we can maintain that, we can stay up.

but back to the game....

I think everyone showed up well in the first 45, and apart from the blip early in the second half.

Hard to say who WASN*T good (aside from previous comments on Gazza). but Puncheon was superb.

His first shot beat the keeper and hit the post, the identical move a few minutes later brought his goal, and he night well have had 3 or 4 apart from a couple of good saves by their keeper.

At last we showed we can play two good halves in the same game..and away from home too. I'm looking forward to my forthcoming visit to see the next two home games. COYR !

Our results against teams in the bottom HALF of the table:

Played 3, won 2, lost 1 (Wigan)

Plenty more opportunities out there, not just the team below.

Excellent result.

Punch was outstanding and could of had a hattrick.

Cork has been the misssing link for us this season and it seems that Morgan has upped his game since he's returned.

Luke Shaw is getting better and better every minute he plays.

Lallana was class today

Gazaniga, Oh dear...

My boss is Tony Fernandes. Hopefully he'll ditch QPR and invest heaverly in his race team!!

sadly you are right, but let's enjoy the win for two minutes before our feet come back down to earth. Also check out the table, a lot of the bottom half sides still to play yet and only chelsea in the top half.

sadly the relegations seasons in the past have shown there are always false dawns. Still, at least we have something to cling our hopes on to at last. It was getting desperate. We look like we have a pattern of play and some idea what we are doing. Very good to watch too Lallana, Puncheon and Ramirez linking together. We can open teams up. We will always have a chance.

Great result.

Punch, Lallana were excellent, much improved, both good going forward and tracking back.

Still wish we wouldnt stand off defending and give teams time and space to cross the ball.

Only negative is Gazza, didnt know whether to come or stay on a few occasions, looked nervy.

Time to give Boruc a run?

Just a shame Readinf won!

It should not be forgotten that before the start of the season Punch was the only player in our squad having scored in the PL .

(Unless Jack Cork got a goal for Burnley but I don't think so)

I have to give full respect to Punch for getting over his attitude problem for now, at least. He has admitted to this problem, and it is as real as a physical injury. It's not just something you can shake off just like that, but he is dealing with it admirably. Full marks to him!
