**** me, have I started a thread on the main board?

Great result; great performance.

Cork was excellent; Gaston quality - and will get better.

Lallana better.

Shaw - great prospect.

Bit worried about G-Niga.

COYRS!

Pub now.

I'll let Phil McNulty contribute to the thread as he is better at words than me:

"Southampton were outstanding today. If ever a team reflected the attitude of their manager Nigel Atkins it was this positive, confident Southampton side. In contrast QPR were utterly abject - how long will the club's hierarchy remain patient after this dreadful defeat? Nigel Adkins and his Southampton players take the applause of their fans - and they deserve every bit of it."

brilliant performance..when the pressure was on

cork was awesome in the middle..win the ball, quickly pass it on.

lallana was good, worked hard to get back

defence looked good..

Lambert ate their defence for breakfast...poor anton...that is why he simply has to start...he dominates and creates..and bangs in the odd important goal..proper saints royalty IMO

but take a bow Puncheon...brilliant performance..held the ball..good movement and passing, had their left back all over the place..works well with clyne...great goal..should have had a second and an assist with lamberts missed shot...well done

gazza still worries the life out of me...I really do not think he should be our no.1 this season....

Yes, it's going to be all about how we deal with the teams we really should get points off now and we were convincing today. Stars of the day were the fans, Adkins, Cork and Puncheon in that order for me. Puncheon obviously did a lot of damage, but it's the steadiness in midfield that's going to make the difference this season.

Everyone on played well today, special mention to the defence, they've clearly worked very hard and it paid off today. Shaw looked excellent.

Puncheon gets my vote for MOTM just about. He was all over the place today, and yeah, his finishing was a bit off but he got so many opportunities because QPR couldn't deal with him.

Cork has come on leaps and bounds since last season.

Lallana is a credit to our club, his energy, work rate, passion... outstanding. I hope he's here for a long time to come.

Great win. Great performance. Hopefully we can follow it up with two home wins and move onwards and upwards. Would still like to see Gazzaniga dropped as he isn't ready and feel Boruc could be the man between the sticks. However will not dwell on negativity this week and am heading off out to celebrate !

We did squander a number of chances - but happy for the days work!

Newcastle next Sunday - and they just got tonked at home by Swansea. Nothing to worry about then?

Much boosting result and can see us kick on from here. The signs have been coming.

Cork gets through so much work and does give our defence much more protection.

Ramirez looking full of tricks; Puncheon and Lallana putting in great shifts looking far more comfortable.

QPR weren't at the races thankfully - but you can only beat what's in front of you!

Shaw was immense at the back on the left - and Clyne was superb. Fonte and Yohida seem to have struck up an understanding - Gazza needs some more coaching on when to come off his line! He was badly at fault for the QPR goal. If it was 0-0 at that stage he would be geting more stick.

Stay with the team - Morgan will be out soon for a ban and Davis will be adequate cover. Morgan does ahve a tendency to give the ball away in dangerous positions at times.

Commentators on stream think we over elaborate - one pass too many; but it is attractive to watch.

Missed the match ;( ... How was Ramirez, why was he substituted. ?

he played pretty well, lots of interplay, we just needed to sure up the middle a bit more as QPR were coming into it. It was the right sub. I'll say that again. Adkins made a very good substitution, maybe a match winning one. We got control of the game again and the rest is history.

This is the manager being allowed to manage and it shows!

Spot on. Lambert being played as the focal point; Rodriguez sidelined; plus the bonus of Jack Cork back. Mates at the game said we were brilliant, just brilliant; and watching what I could on a dodgy stream I have to agree.

the overplaying tended to be because chances fell to the wrong foot of players so they passed rather than gamble on their swingers. With the quality if keepers at this level I don't blame them.

Puncheon bullied Manchester utd.

He should never have been taken off v Man Utd.

Given the backing as Clyne gives...could be a great team/squad player..

Well done Saints..:D Well done Punch and Corky.

Cork has come back to side and helped Morgan to raise his game and Saints start to play football.

We can beat Newcastle and Norwich:)

COYS

Special mention to young Shaw...

Pleasure to watch that - only Gazza gave cause for concern (several times).

Punch - take a bow. Outstanding work rate, probably could have had a hat-trick. Ramirez - quality, but sometimes the simple ball is the best option. Lallana - best game for a while, noticeably tracked back a lot more. Cork has made a big difference in the middle, winning many challenges and generally orchestrating the push forward.

Well done Adkins and the lads - it may have only been QPR, but 3 pts on the road is valuable anywhere in this league. "We are Southampton, we're winning away!"
