Saints boy in Leeds Posted 17 November, 2012 Share Posted 17 November, 2012 So many on here think we are doomed already, so how many points do you think we should have by now ? IMO we could only of won 3 games so for, Wigan, Villa and Fulham. Like my pal who supports Sunderland said to me before the start of the season, "there's no easy games in the prem mate" Even if we do go down I'll still support the saints, I have all my life and will regardless of league we are in, it seems to me that now we are here we should have a god given right to stay up ? Hopefully we can get some defenders in Jan and steady the ship, if not what can we do ?
Colinjb Posted 17 November, 2012 Share Posted 17 November, 2012 We should have beaten Swansea. A point from one of Man City and Man United was imminently possible and Fulham, well..... winnable to say the least. For me we could so easily have been on 9 points. Still in the bottom 3 on goal difference but level with Villa and Sunderland.

rpb Posted 17 November, 2012 Share Posted 17 November, 2012 When we were relegated (2004/05 season) we had 7 points at this stage and were 18th having just drawn 2- 2 away to Arsenal.

Today's game is massive whoever loses it will shatter their confidence beyond repair IMO
SNOWY Posted 18 November, 2012 Share Posted 18 November, 2012 I was hoping for a point per game up until January. Win the next two and we will be back on track.

We are going to have to beat some big teams at some point otherwise we will be down.

I think our team is getting better for every week and eventually we´ll get a win against a top 6 team too. In a way I think the beatings has been good for us since I think you could fool yourself if you just lose 1-0 or 2-1. Now we have really focused on the defence the last couple of weeks but still remain with the ability to go forward and playing the ball.
Window Cleaner Posted 18 November, 2012 Share Posted 18 November, 2012 Well I'd say that we could very easily be on 11 points by now by just eliminating 2 very corrigable mistakes. Gazza's last week and the gung ho subs against Utd would see us with 3 points more and a 15/16 th place. In fact if it weren't for the Gazza howler we'd be 16th now. Olallana Posted 18 November, 2012 Share Posted 18 November, 2012 we played s poor spurs side at home too....and lost Not a top 6 team (or maybe they were when we met them...?) Yeah I agree on that one but no Cork and Ramirez in that one. Our squad is a decent PL squad but if we dont have our best players fit we will get hurt. I really hope Boruc is getting fitter during practice cause that´s our only GK I can see steal a win or two. I dont think Gazza has that ability really... Dalek2003 Posted 18 November, 2012 Share Posted 18 November, 2012 12 points, averaging one point per game for safety. However, our very difficult opening games skewed that. We could have done with a win against Swansea and Wigan and then we would have been fine at this stage.
aintforever Posted 18 November, 2012 Share Posted 18 November, 2012 The games where you generally pick up the most points is against the lesser teams at home so the Wigan, Swansea and Fulham games could cost us. You don't write off any game but there are games you target as the ones you need to win. Drop too many points against the likes of Fulham at home and you find yourself at the end of the season having to beat teams like Man U to reach your points target. SaintBobby Posted 18 November, 2012 Share Posted 18 November, 2012 8 from 12 isn't awful - the win yesterday was huge, obviously. I don't think it will be 38 points to stay up. A lot of teams are averaging less than a point a game - I'm guessing 34 or 35 will be enough.

Saint Paul C Posted 19 November, 2012 Share Posted 19 November, 2012 I think the only games we've dropped points in realistically are Wigan - draw was more likely (+1) Fulham - should have won (+2) Swansea - should have won (+2) So we'd be on 13 points and not
