This whole Israel thing...

Anonymous have just released a list of 5000 Israeli officials to go with the 650+ Israeli websites that have been hacked.

I did rofl at the "Israel - all your base are belong to us" tweet

Rofl'ing aside, things seem to be intensifying.... and btw, Halo, incredible post!

Thank you *Halo* for such an excellent summary of the situation.

You do have to wonder why our media channels always choose to show interviews with Israeli officials talking about the terrorist threat from Gaza and their right to defend themselves, yet we never get to hear the Palestinian side of it. I mean, it couldn't possibly be due to the heavy Jewish influence in global, and particularly American media corporations, could it?

I watched Sunday morning live this morning or whatever it is called and some actress from easteders was heavily defending Palestine.

It's such a huge mess.

You'd have thought the Israelis would have learnt by now that even with all their airstrikes, military incursions and their routine violations of international law their not only not stopping the Palestinian rockets but the rockets are getting more advanced and more plentiful. They still don't seem to get that killing 10 militants breeds 20 more.

You put a fire out with water, not petrol.

"Jewish controlled media".

Yep, same stupid paranoid anti-Semitism that dogged Germany in the 30s

Especially ridiculous considering how biased the BBC is towards the Palestinians.

Perhaps you'd like to demonstrate some evidence to the contrary then, Alps. Good luck with that.

As for it being the same as in the 1930s, what a load of sh!t that is. It's actually the complete opposite. The Palestinians are the ones living in ghettos, and there is a marked difference between being anti-Semitic ( a completely inaccurate term, btw ) and anti-Zionist. I'll happily sign up to the latter. You don't know the difference between the two.

Read the facts in Halo post and kindly refer me to the BBC reports. Thanks.

I dont see the relevance of who is living in ghettos or not. All I see here is the classic paranoid/disingenuous public-opinion-control-through-the media-by-scheming-money-grabbing-power-hungry-Jews accusation being made, as was favoured by the Nazis to turn public opinion against Jews in the 30s in Germany.

Public-opinion-control-through-the media-by-arrogant-self-opinionated-Trotskyites/bleeding-heart-liberals is not an issue, of course. Hence the staunch defence of that moral cess-pit that is the BBC in these parts.

"facts" ?

Interesting. All I see is a lot of coincidences assembled to fit an agenda. And some serious fawning by the flock thereafter.

HTH.

Killing disabled men, kids playing football, opening fire on a funeral gathering in another country. Wtf are you referring to when you spout "agenda"? You think that's acceptable conduct by Israel?

Funny how different people see things, isn't it? See here I was, thinking that the Arabs had taken the place of the Jews in public enemy number one stakes.

Your opinion is invalid unless you can prove that adherents of the Jewish faith aren't proportionally over-represented in the media, which you can't, because they are.

This is exactly the sort of brilliant, accurate commentary I visit this site for.

There were also a load of randomers waving Palestinian flags in my face outside West Quay yesterday. TBH it made me want to support Israel because I was only trying to do a bit of christmas shopping and have a Bratwurst.

How does the fact that the matters I was referring to were not widely reported in western media (if at all) suggest that there is a pro Palestinian media?

That is exactly the sort of in-depth, personal and profound experience I was looking for, mate.

Thank you.

It gladdens the soul to know that in the midst of this disproportionate murder, bratwurst is an influencing factor.

It's a f**king disgrace.

And 80% of the crap I see on my feeds is sh!t about the X-Factor.

Welcome to Airstrip One, people.

Yup. Me too. And that, once again, is down to the media in essence. Then again, welcome to the western world. Self-absorbed first-world problem bullsh1t.

It's the primary factor.

I think you should probably post on a thread you understand.

I know that ubiquity rests high on your list of priorities, but in this case, it's genuinely doing you a disservice.

Take a look at Crab Lungs' link and ask yourself:- are you really adding anything to this debate apart from your own obvious indifference?

I think both sides have done a lot of damage Tbh. I don't come down on either side, because as far as I can see both have done things wrong. It's sad that both of them fire things at each other and kill each other. Not sure what the people in town were trying to achieve though.

Tweeted by Anon: 'Won't be long before Israeli central infrastructure and military comm. are targeted.'

I have to say, I don't know what powers anonymous have other than disrupting websites and "outing" people so this will be an interesting development to watch. I wonder how far they can go?

Make no mistake though, I wouldn't want to be p1ssing off Mossad too much... :o

About as acceptable as firing rockets into Israel from built-up civilian areas then parading the innocent casualties in the international media (hang on its full of Jews, how did those pictures make it out and get published ??)

To late for that most of the posters on this thread are on Mossad's list now......:suspicious:

While I like to see shades of grey in stuff hypo, difficult to do that here.

You speak as if this is an equitable conflict. It is not. Israel has the full support of the US, the UK and several of the more corrupt Arab states. It also has a country and representation in the UN. The Palestinians have got nothing in terms of "official" support. Sure, you've got the likes of Iran funding Hamas etc, but that's just more violence. Barring a multi-state solution, which is far more than the Israelis deserve, there is no light at the end of the tunnel for Palestinians.

Personally, I'm always inclined to side with those being oppressed.

Although my post did actually suggest that I didn't know a lot about it so he is a bit correct even if he did sound patronising. It's not that I don't care, it's more that I can see both sides of this and there isn't a lot I can do about it despite thinking it is a sad situation. Yes I got some shopping in early because I hate the crowds. I still don't see the point in demonstrating outside West Quay though.

Hypo's already planted himself half in my camp on this one.

There is a time to discuss bratwurst and West Quay shopping. This is not that time, or that thread, and I genuinely think the accusations of indifference were justified.

Yep sod those surrounded when there has been at least 3 serious attempts to wipe them off the map in the past 50 years.

Who decided you judge what is appropriate to discuss or not ?

Personally, I am grateful to Hypo for telling me the German market is already open in Soton, notwithstanding submarine comments.

It was just a joke but actually there is a serious underlying point since I still fail to see the point of highlighting this issue by campaigning outside of West Quay in front of shoppers who were completely indifferent. Surely there are more effective ways to get your point across?

Which means absolutely nothing, because they were not supposed to be there.

As a matter of interest, how long do you think a proposed Jewish state would have lasted if they'd decided to set up in the UK, and not Israel?

For whatever reason, prior to World War 2, the Jewish civilisation was unable to hold on its homeland, unable to exist in any other form apart from a diaspora. Why then, should this nation that couldn't exist on its own terms, be given land that it hasn't been in possession of for centuries?

That's what I always thought. I was completely oblivious, if truth be told, to the seriousness of the situation for a long, long time.

However, the media is IMO biased in this country. The don't show what's going on or tell a balanced story. It's up to people who care enough to make others aware.

The sad thing is though is that people would rather stuff it to the back of their minds and fill that void with X-Factor, Coronation Street or Take Me Out.

Why would you be grateful for knowing a German market exists in Southampton anyway?

For starters, actual German markets are a lot closer. Also, do you think you could even make the trip? You lasted a fortnight last time. Diminishing returns and all that.

This is funny. And not because I think they arent biased.

I am assuming you think non-bias is the BBC allowing Hamas spokesmen scream "Death to Israel" on camera ever news bulletin ?
