If you go back far enough you'll find the WW1 K class, which took over 5 minutes to dive, ( as the funnels had to be lowered and the boilers damped down ), and in their entire war service sank no enemy ships, yet cost the lives of several hundred crewmen.

Fascinating. Though, of absolutely no relevance to this discussion, to be honest.

Quite right, Tokyo. This thread "entails pain" though, sir.

Haha sorry Paps, couldn't resist it. You should have a countdown off with Bletch and Bear.

Alps, out of interest, what is your favourite sub ever?

Whe Matty came on at The Dell to bring us back from 0-3 against Liverpool.

whooooaaa stop a horse!

Alps has a sense of humour! Well done mate, that is a side of you I haven't seen before, good on you.

My favourite is the one were he came off the bench and scored the wonder goals against Newcastle. Was in the Milton for that game and still think they are the best goals I have seen 'in real life'.

He started that game. The idiot Branfoot was about to sub him for Paul Moody:scared: when he went and scored the first.

I was under the impression that you had started expanding the scope of a thread about the alleged design flaws of the Astute class to include other RN sub classes - Trafalgar, Vanguard, and Upholder. I simply extrapolated the timeline.

No he bloody didnt !! Branfoot was long, long gone before that game too. Hoddle was manager

Dave Jones signed Pahars, well after Branfoot left.

I was at this game, pal.

Absolutely correct. I mis-read it.

Apologies to Lets B Avenue.

Apology accepted. But please remember not to vent your irrational anger at me, the King of Pedantry, in future. Or I will smite you down.
