ART Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 (edited) Last nights Sweden- England game and Ibrahimovic's overhead goal had memories of one of the most incredible goals scored at the Dell. How many can remember DAVID WEBB scoring exactly in the same way at the Dell. What also made it so memorable was it was wcored at the end of his debut for Saints against promotion rivals Wolves. It was breathtaking and had supporters talking about it for a long time after. I can recall him often using the overhead kick in making clearances but can't recall him ever scoring another amazing goal in that way. How many recall Webb's goal and the excitement it caused? norwaysaint Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 Disappointing. Very misleading thread title.
L1Minus10 Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 Wallace was against Liverpool and later on he beat Hansen in the air and scored a header which considering he was a foot shorter was an even better goal IMO - shocking defending.
martel Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 Wallace was against Liverpool and later on he beat Hansen in the air and scored a header which considering he was a foot shorter was an even better goal IMO - shocking defending. I do remember Barry Horne scoring a cracking shot from well outside the area, cannot remember who it was against, but do remember the ball wavering through the air as it blasted into the top right hand corner of the goal, can anyone help me who Saints were playing against?

Bolton. I think Rory Delaps overhead kick was better. There was a keeper to beat for a start.

This one. THis was in injury time in a cup game c1992. Bolton had scored in the last minute to go 2-1 up, he then scored the winner in extra time.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 I remember Keegan's overhead kick which was ruled out because David Armstrong was supposedly offside.
Big Bad Bob Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 Saints own Ibrahimovic They why aren't we playing him??
Barry Sanchez Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 I do remember Barry Horne scoring a cracking shot from well outside the area, cannot remember who it was against, but do remember the ball wavering through the air as it blasted into the top right hand corner of the goal, can anyone help me who Saints were playing against? Was it Bolton in the Cup?
Barry Sanchez Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 Sorry did not read and watch the bit above, was at that game, I miss the Dell so much.
ladysaint Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 I remember Keegan's overhead kick which was ruled out because David Armstrong was supposedly offside. That is the one I remember too, a cracking shot and would have surely won goal of the season if it was allowed, cant seem to remember who it was against, Villa?
Ken Tone Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 I wish you'd put an apostrophe in the thread title. I came on here expecting to learn that we'd bought him! As in "Saints now own Ibrahimovic"!
KK the 2nd Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 What a difference an apostrophe makes Eats shoots and leaves!
david in sweden Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 I do remember Barry Horne scoring a cracking shot from well outside the area, cannot remember who it was against, but do remember the ball wavering through the air as it blasted into the top right hand corner of the goal, can anyone help me who Saints were playing against? there's as similar shot (featured on old videos) scored by Nick Holmes on a sunny day at The Dell - can't recall the opponents. Mind you those of us with even longer memories love to talk about that lovely Brian O'Neil left-footer that went in at the Milton end....from a similar distance.
Stud mark of doom Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 That is the one I remember too, a cracking shot and would have surely won goal of the season if it was allowed, cant seem to remember who it was against, Villa? Manu
saintfully Posted 16 November, 2012 Posted 16 November, 2012 Manu I was there, 10 yrs old - didn't know what the fu ck was going on. How was that goal ever dissallowed!!!!!
Cheam Saint Posted 17 November, 2012 Posted 17 November, 2012 I was there, 10 yrs old - didn't know what the fu ck was going on. How was that goal ever dissallowed!!!!! Different rules back then. Now it would definitely be given as Armstrong wasn't interfering with play
Cricketphilly Posted 17 November, 2012 Posted 17 November, 2012 Different rules back then. Now it would definitely be given as Armstrong wasn't interfering with play As Shanks used to say, If he's not interfering with play, what's he doing on the pitch?
