Adkins or Hughes sack game?

OK, so what if it's a draw? Just saying.

PS: I don't think either will lose their jobs. It makes no sense whatsoever if you're trying to plan for long-term success and both clubs have the financial means to do so.

It does make sense to stay up

Are you saying we should have stuck with wigley or wotte.... In order to plan long term?

Are you saying that Wigley or Wotte were able to deliver two back to back promotions? Don't be daft! Completely different scenarios.

And all this b1tching about Champions league...blah...blah. There is a long-term plan at the club to be very successful - that might take several years to achieve - it might mean we go down while the club continues to grow organically from within. Remember, it's only 3 years since the take-over and there was a huge amount of re-building of the infrastructure of the club to be done. We've been promoted to the Prem earlier than anticipated - the club needs time to adjust.

Be patient - get behind the club including the Manager and it will come good. Believe - who knows, it might happen - good things come to those who wait.

So, if we go down and bounce back, do we then remove Adkins as he failed to deliver safety in prem?

Eh? Of course not. Look, the key here is that stability does not have to be the enemy of success. Or to put it another way, there are two options to the CEO...

1. You panic and sack the Manager. That means bringing in another Manager who has to start again, probably wants to offload some players and buy new ones, train new tactics etc, all without the guarantee that it will come good eventually. A massive gamble. OR,

2. You stay calm and give the Manager that has demonstrably provided excellent sustained success over two seasons, a chance to sort out the squad and maintain the long-term push for more success. Long-term means just that - let's say 10 years for arguments sake. So providing the finances are right to enable a drop back to the Championship, why not let your tried and tested Manager travel the 10 year path with you?

This is called strategy...it's what good business leaders do. That's not to say you do everything you can to support your Manager to retain Prem status, but the key to long-term sustained success is continuity and stability. If you want a perfect example of how not doing this works against you - I give you Saints under Lowe. If you want a perfect example of how this works incredibly well look at Man Ure with Fergie. Whether it will happen, who knows...but I want Nigel Adkins to be our Fergie. One thing's for sure - we'll never know unless he's given a decent crack at it.

Thanks for telling me what strategy is

I hope the strategy of the club is to stay in the prem this season, rather than already accepting defeat and relegation

By the way, barely, if ever do managers take a team down and bounce straight back up... Reason being, they have masterminded defeat after defeat and that is hard to turn around with the status quo

Reckon if Hughes loses he will go. Although Redknapp has been linked they have an academy coach John Crisp who would also be in with a shout according to a mate of mine.

Hope so as it would be good for us. That guy is a first class idiot and known as a complete chimp within the game.

I personally think QPR will be fine this season, even with Hughes in charge. They'll string together some results somewhere and they have the players to stay up with ease. Sacking Hughes will cost Fernandes a small fortune too.

I still see relegation as being Reading, Us and one other. Sort the defence out in January and I may change my expectations of our fortunes, but it's really not looking too rosy. A poor defence is what cost us our place in this division the last time we were here, it is looking like that may happen again. Sad, but currently true.

Will Adkins still be around at the end of the season? I really hope so. He's a likeable guy, intelligent and has done us proud over two seasons, but I really can't see it. I don't think he'll be sacked this weekend, even if we lose to QPR, but he can't have too long left unless results change.

no idea but I don't doubt that they've got 'Arry lined up already ready to start on Sunday.

That can't be right. Some posters insist NA has already been given notice and is due to go any day now, just as soon as a replacement can be found. If HR is lined up, he could start today.

Indeed - how many times have some of our posters said Adkins' last game will be the next one? Next thing it'll be 'Cortese can't sack Adkins because he has it in his contract, just like Guly has to be played a certain number of times.'

Flyer has said that it's win or bye-bye for Sparky on Saturday, all via ITK sauces, and he's never been wrong on here has he?

It was direct from TF who said its a "must win game" so thats why everyone is saying he will be sacked. Nothing "ITK".

Id prefer a draw over a win if thats true but the 2 favs for the job are Sven and arry which isnt exactly enticing. I was hoping you lot would hire arry before us.

Id prefer Benitez myself.

Like any of us bottom dwellers would interest Benitez.

He was 2nd favourite with one bookie for QPR and hughes is the 9th best paid manager in the world, he shouldnt even be the 9th best paid manager in the PL.

Anyway one ITK says Hughes is gone if he doesnt win and another says hes gone Monday no matter what and 'arry is in, that will be a big relief to you lot.

Have posted before...Redknapp with your squad you stay up...Redknapp with our squad we still go down. Ok there have been some massive tactical cock ups

but mistakes like Saturday are not going to disappear under a new manager.

The problem here is as every fan knows was the blatant disregard to strengthening the defence.

I think the same thing too, our problem is the manager, your problem is behind the scenes with the people clearly not buying the right personnel for the manager.

Even I knew you need 2 CBs and a LB, you got a £7m CF and he had to be played and the wing and a £13m winger when it would have been cheaper to buy someone like Samba who would have had a far better impact. I feel sorry for Adkins having his hands tied like this, if he does go what other manager would agree to having someone else but the players?
