Roger Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 As we bought him for 3.5 million and he's the only player in an attacking sense with pace anyone shed any light on why he hasn't started?
Turkish Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 I think he should start ahead of Lambert against QPR.
Miltonaggro Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 They realised after signing him that he's only 4ft 6ins tall...
Sour Mash Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 As we bought him for 3.5 million and he's the only player in an attacking sense with pace anyone shed any light on why he hasn't started? He started away to Leeds. He wasn't very good.
Roger Posted 15 November, 2012 Author Posted 15 November, 2012 He started away to Leeds. He wasn't very good. No one was good.
Sour Mash Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 No one was good. Hence why none of them are any closer to another starting place.
Turkish Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 Hence why none of them are any closer to another starting place. Surely you cant also mean Lee? Who despite only playing about 3 times for us was our saviour this season and hailed on here as being "class" and "going to be a massive player for us this season".
70's Mike Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 As we bought him for 3.5 million and he's the only player in an attacking sense with pace anyone shed any light on why he hasn't started? instead of who?
Roger Posted 15 November, 2012 Author Posted 15 November, 2012 I'd go instead of puncheon. Played that role well vs spurs.
Turkish Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 I'd go instead of puncheon. Played that role well vs spurs. Not Lambert then? I reakon Mayukas movement and pace up front would be the ideal to run onto Ramirezs through balls behind the back QPRs slow back 4.

You seem to like to make up things that you wish people had said to reinforce. Like the rumours you make up. Troll.your agenda.
Roger Posted 15 November, 2012 Author Posted 15 November, 2012 Not Lambert then? I reakon Mayukas movement and pace up front would be the ideal to run onto Ramirezs through balls behind the back QPRs slow back 4. Lambert has lost a lot of weight and did set the goal up last week. He just needs his confidence repaired after all that meddling by Adkins earlier in season. One goal will get him back on track. Turkish, why so provocative today.

I'm only giving my view that Mayukas pace and movement would be perfect fo Ramirez to pick out with his ability to thread a ball through the defence, lambert doesn't have the pace to get onto them. Why is it provocative because it's not what you think?

Troll.your agenda. Not at all. There were a number of posters telling us Lee was a great player and going to have a huge impact this season. Just because you dont remember it doesn't mean it's not true. I see you're trotting out the old agenda and troll lines again, pathetic.
Saint Garrett Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 And because a couple of people mentioned that Lee had potential to be a good player for us, that needs bringing up at multiple opportunities ?!
Turkish Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 And because a couple of people mentioned that Lee had potential to be a good player for us, that needs bringing up at multiple opportunities ?! Multiple opportunities? When was this? Anyway, lets not take the trolls take this off topic. WHo agrees Mayuka and Ramirez could be a good combination. Ramirez can clearly pick a pass out and with Mayukas pace and movement it'd be ideal to get him in behind a slow back 4.

I can see exactly what u mean but we can have that and lamberts aerial and goal scoring threat if he plays in puncheons position.
Turkish Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 I can see exactly what u mean but we can have that and lamberts aerial and goal scoring threat if he plays in puncheons position. If we want an aerial threat as well then Rodriguez is quicker than Lambert and has better movement too, he'll also be able to rotate with Mayuka up front and out wide effectively to keep the QPR back 4 guessing and keep us fluid. if we are going to play Ramirez in the number 10 position then really he needs someone with movement and pace to link up with to be really effective. Haven't see him playing too many high balls in any of his appearances so far.

Ramirez and lambert were awesome together vs villa and I think when Ramirez is fully fit again hopefully sat we will see benefit.
Saint Garrett Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 Lambert can always drop deeper with Lallana and Punch making the runs past Lambert.

Rodriguez hasn't really had a chance to show what he can do with Ramirez, i expect they are working on it in training as we type, he's not as good in the air as Lambert but his all round games is superior and improving all the time. Although i still feel that Mayuka would be even better. the pace movement and skill of a front 4 of Lallana, Ramirez, Mayuka and Rodriguez is mouth watering isn't? Got a bit of everything in there.
Roger Posted 15 November, 2012 Author Posted 15 November, 2012 Lambert was only dropped because he had a chest infection and Adkins didn't deem him fit enough for 90 mins. Last two weeks he's put extra work in and lost weight And now needs a goal.

Still wont turn him into a fast player with great movement to run onto through balls from a player with outstanding vision though will it.
Turkish Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 (edited) Check villa second half Turkish. Quite, Mayka was fantastic we he came, great pace and movement. Imgine if he could do that over 90 minutes with Ramirez supplying the amunition. Edited 15 November, 2012 by Turkish
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 I have it on good authority that the reason he's been sidelined is because he displays a insufficient level of positivity towards all things SFC related. As we know this is the one 'thoughtcrime' that Nigel just can't tolerate, so he's been sent away to our equililent of Siberia (Portswood) for a spot of re-education. Expect him back any day now spouting bullsh1t like all the rest .....

This is true, but Mayuka up front in place of Lambert will leave him exposed and removing our ability to go long at times. Mayuka in place of Puncheon (as per Spurs second half) would give us the best of both worlds. Puncheon did alright against Swansea though, so it's a tough call.
Saint Garrett Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 Would start Punch and bring on Mayuka depending on how the game goes. Lambert holds up the ball well the majority of the time. Mayuka wouldn't give us that option unless we were to hit balls into the channels. but we don't play like that.

Mayuka wouldn't give us that option unless we were to hit balls into the channels. but we don't play like that. How many times in the games Ramirez has played has he thread a ball through and the player hasn't been quite quick enough to reach it? It happened about 3 times against Swansea where the player would have been on goal if he'd been half a yard quicker. With Mayuka there that is 3 good chances in on goal, not counting the times Ramirez could play a ball in behind the back centre halves for him to use his pace to run onto. I actually think the way we play now suits Mayukas game.
Saint Garrett Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 Probably, but Mayuka is 3rd choice up front, and Puncheon has been doing pretty well recently - and I don't even particularly like him. Plus he might have a point to prove having gone to QPR and not been given a chance.
Sour Mash Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 A front two of Mayuka and Lambert with Ramirez sat behind them would be class, but doesn't fit our formation and would leave us to exposed in midfield most likely. Or drop Lallana and have a solid midfield 3 sat behind them.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 I suspect the fact is that he's turned out to be not as good as the scouts/Reed thought he would be. Perhaps it's easier to leave him out the equation than Puncheon who will kick-off if he's dropped to the bench?

Or drop Lallana and have a solid midfield 3 sat behind them. Unless Cortese reverts to his diamond midfield last season with MS holding, Cork and Davis/Lallana in front and Ramirez at the tip. It'll still leave us exposed down the flanks but we are anyway so wont really lose anything.

It works well on FIFA, I ditched Lambert after the first season due to his mobility and sent him on loan to Celtic. I suspect Adkins will follow suit.

Sacrifice lallana. Are you mental He will play no matter what. No matter how much he allows fox to mark two players and take all the blame We will probably lose this weekend due to the space we will give their tricky players out wide
Tokyo-Saint Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 No need Turkish, I have already done it on football manager 2013 and it works. I am in Europe now, have beaten Man utd home and away. If only I was in charge eh?

Bucks Saint Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 I suspect the fact is that he's turned out to be not as good as the scouts/Reed thought he would be. Agree. Tons of pace (which we don't have anywhere else) means he is better as a sub against a tiring defence, but ball control and positioning are still work in progress IMO.
paris Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 He has a special contract like Guly ..................lol

If only I was in charge eh? I won the champions league, World club cup, super cup, FA Cup, league cup, championship and premier league in 10 seasons with Burnley. I took them from the bottom 3 of the championship to being the best team in world. I can confirm Jay Rodreiguez was amazing until i sold him for £12m when he hit 30 and replaced him with Ali Seminov. What Adkins has achieved is nothing.
Turkish Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 Are you stealing my thoughts ? Does this mean i see the game as someone who has played at Semi pro level? *glows with pride*
Dig Dig Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 He has a special contract like Guly ..................lol I can confirm this. Cortese made sure it that it was included in Mayukas contract that he can NEVER start a game for us.

I can confirm though that Mayuka isn't very good in the game and the system works better with Junior Hoilett, let's just hope QPR don't read this. I know Mark Hughes is a bit of a fan of the muppet show.
Bearsy Posted 15 November, 2012 Posted 15 November, 2012 People used to wonder why De Ridder never got a start, till it slowly become apparent he weren't actually one of our better players.
