Dark Forces?

See the point you make but these rumours started almost as soon as he took over. As others have said - something was fundamentally wrong at Saints hence going into Admin. NC saw fit to shake it up, if that made people work a bit harder or whatever then thats his choice - as it is the choice of any employee to stay or go.

However - despite all these hints and rumours I have yet to hear of one story where someone has actually said something that he has actually done! Apparantly there are loads - and Im sure the local press would be gagging to publish - but nothing...

It's turning into the Chuck Norris type things...

Nicola Cortese doesn't have a chin behind his beard, just another fist.

Yes you are right Wes I have used the wrong word

If Cortese was a reasonable bloke I doubt there would be talk about Dark Forces but people are amazed about his behavior and get upset .

I know someone who used to work there and from what they have told me it is not the best place to work because of wild behavior.

You can be reasonable and be successfull

So if he behaved reasonably I doubt there would be discussions about Dark Forces

So why do you think there are apparently Dark Forces at work Wes.

Reasonable is certainly the better word, but whichever word best describes him to one individual, will be disputed by another. Many will argue that in order to succeed in business, a person might have to develop a ruthless streak, be decisive, step on a few toes and ruffle a few feathers along the way, making decisions that upset a few but which are deemed to be for the long term good. Some people do not have the knack of diplomacy, or come across as being a bit abrupt.

It can be argued too that naked ambition and the single-minded pursuit of success are not good characteristics in an individual. I am not saying that there aren't successful top company executives who are warm and cuddly individuals, universally loved and admired by their employees, but I suspect that such near perfect beings are probably as rare as hen's teeth. As long as Cortese brings success to our club and moves us forward, then personally I'm not that bothered by allegations that he is not a nice person, especially as they have not been substantiated to my satisfaction.

Dark forces? Who knows? But the impression is given at least that there are people out there who for whatever reason continue to snipe at the club and the people involved with running it, through Chinese Whispers. Some of them might be Skates, in the same way that we have infiltrated their forums. Others might be people involved with the last regime with an axe to grind. As for individuals who have been slighted in some way, what would they like as an alternative? A Supporters Trust? I suspect that even if the club were to be owned by the fans, there would still be this petty bickering amongst them.

This sums it up 100% for me, we were lucky to get the Owners and Chairman we did - you only have to look down the road for proof of that.

If people don't like it and continue the smears - what is the end game?

Do customers and shareholders of your company moan about parking charges and do you have a customer fanboy on your board?

I've heard from my sources that Turkish is a real gent when dealing with customers and drives a good deal for the company but is a proper **** to work with otherwise.

Other people in sales might think that because they look at me and wish they were as good as me, but generally i am considered a delight to work with. Apart from when i insist on no one being in the bogs the same times as me.

Question: Would you rather be treated with 'respect' or get successive promotions, have a new training ground built etc with some ruthless abandon for feelings?

Both. I dont see why you can only have a choice of one when you are in the entertainment industry.

I'm not surprised if you're continually ****** all over yourself.

Very true - no reason. But I would take results on the pitch over free parking and a ticket tax is common everywhere.

Dark forces persist in the face of progress IMHO.

I dont have an issue with the ticket tax and parking charges to be honest. It's just the general lack of respect he seems to show for everyone that is the issue. You dont have the be a great businessman to treat people decently.

But does this really warrant such a meticulous smear campaign and the mobilisation of the lunatic fringe?

To be honest I have no problem with people griping over these things at all and agree, respect for people by and large costs nothing and better communication and servicing of the fans should be expected.

However, I would much rather that these are the only issues we have to contend with, ultimately we can't argue too much about what the club has achieved over a short space of time.

Is it really? Or it just people reporting what they hear? People are just reporting what their hear, just because some dont like it it doesn't make it a smear campaign.

so there is no chance what so ever that there are people with agendas who feel that their nose has been put out and try to de-stabilise the current regime?

Thats the point - its what they hear from those who have been put out by the new regime. We all know those on here that have links to the old days - and its those who are smearing more than most. Their sources aren't close to the club now which irritates them so they make mountains out of molehills or put out the "he isn't very nice" or "its not a nice place to work" stuff.

As long as the Players and Manager are happy then I am happy - I am a fan of the team, not the club offices.

Prehaps there is a bit of that, who knows. Has Cortese helped himself? Most definitely not. Unless there is anything postive to come from falling out with echo, MLT and treating staff badly.

Tomorrow I will setup the Agenda Amnesty thread where SW posters will have the opportunity to admit their agenda in a single thread. IMO this will help for various factions to unite, as their prejudices will be on the table for all to see.

I like the sound of this, Agenda amnesties on a mongboard are the new gun amnesties.

It's easy to forget chaos caused by three warring rival chairmen two relegations and an Administration which took us to the point of ruin. At that time loads of fans were calling for heads to be banged together and a fresh start with out any of them. that's what we got, weren't we lucky (look down the road) Of course the people who got displaced are peeved and all the other gravy boaters, but we've again got a Premiership club to be proud of.

As long as everyone doesn't have an agenda to distrupt the agenda amnesty, nothing can go wrong.

Their agenda will simply have been highlighted as a person attempting to prevent progress. To start I will reveal my agenda and will then ask others to respectfully follow.

I may also name certain individuals whose agenda the members of SW will be keen to understand.

It's going to be long sleepless night for some individuals...

There are dark forces in our defence.

They are rendering them completely incompetent.

Fix those and the other dark forces will disappear.

I gaurantee it.

You would think so. But the dark forces were hanging on during two successive promotions so I disagree that they would go away if results improved - they would still be there.

Think the politics have always been churning over in the background - the whole notion of a club being so much more than just a club they support to fans...

I think you're right, in that to many it is more than just a club, it's their Club (excusing the obvious fact they don't actually own it!) , a cornerstone of their community, something that has a history of over 125 years, something that generations of their family have supported (and occasionally criticised) and something that's dear to their heart.

You only have to see the fantastic outreach of The Saints Foundation in challenged parts of the City to see the impact it has on the local community and of course how do you quantify the feel good factor of recent promotions.

It's probably the highest profile organisation this City has and something many people feel an integral part of, so there's always going to be interest in much more than what's happening on the pitch. It's always been that way, and our history is littered with events when supporters have voiced their displeasure at players, managers & owners. It's nothing new.

People with contacts at the club will always post stuff they have heard. To say there is dark forces is paranoid b*ll*x.

The problem is people without contacts feel left out so get on the offensive.

I think you need get your agenda off your chest in Saints Charlie's thread tomorrow.

Best not to build it up. At the end of the day an amnesty is not forced - if people want to reveal their agenda they can. The thread will go alive approx 10am tomorrow.

Along with the rest of the UK, I can hardly wait. This is right up there with the police commissioners elections; everyone, but everyone wants to take part.
