tajjuk Posted 28 January, 2013 Share Posted 28 January, 2013 Yep. Jelavic 7m, Fellaini 15m, Mirrallas 6m - they don't do too bad. To be honest average gates around 38k, plus regular prem TV money I'm pretty sure they can afford around £15 million worth of transfer fees a year. They are also 'up' on transfers for the last couple of years raking in around £35 million from Rodwell, Arteta, Yobo, and that Russian winger. Tokyo-Saint Posted 28 January, 2013 Share Posted 28 January, 2013 Mark Staniforth @markstani1 Everton new boy Leroy Fer spent £22,000 on a horse for his girlfriend last year, conveniently forgetting she lived in a high-rise flat. This is always brought up and always a strange one. Even if she had a large detached house, she probably wouldn't keep the horse at home. No one keeps a horse in the garden, not unless you live in Texas anyway.

itchen_dan Posted 28 January, 2013 Share Posted 28 January, 2013 (edited) He said similar on the day he was announced as manager, mere hours later Vegard Forren signed. Now that is clutching at straws! He knew Forren was coming in. It was a club signing, not an Adkins or Pochettino one. That deal was already done and in place before Pochettino was appointed. Fair enough. Would like one or two in but the squad has shown in the last few months it is competitive in the league, plus we will have Lallana back now. The improved form of Boruc, the emergence of Shaw and the return of Cork have quashed the need for major reinforcements in those areas and the addition of Forren brings further defensive options. A first team of - Boruc, Shaw, Clyne, Forren, Yoshida, Cork, Morgan, Lallana, Gaston, Puncheon, Lambert is good enough to stay in the league. Once Fonte is back we'll have him, hooiveld, guly, jay rod, mayuka and davis as options. A few injuries will be a worry though but at least the likes of Guly and Hooiveld have shown they aren't inept in this league as many thought and maybe we'll see more of youngters like JWP, Chambers, Stephens etc.
Saint Garrett Posted 28 January, 2013 Share Posted 28 January, 2013 Think we're in a bit of an 'Arsenal' situation...We're only going to bring in players who are very very good. Pochettino obviously thought Coutinho was, but we're not going to spend money on average players or on short term players.

If Zambia lose their last group game they would probably be knocked out. could be back by Saturday I suppose; Might need some better coaching to be really worth what we paid for him; Saw him playing for Zambia the other day, looked totally lost, willing runner but didn't seem to know what he was doing (or supposed to be doing) half of the time. Raw talent, needs refining.

Any injuries to a few of our key players and the gulf in class between our bench options and our starters is such that it could mean relegation for us. Injuries have the potential to ruin any teams season. You could sign loads and have a first team squad of 35 and might just combat it. Reality is that any team would struggle to fill the spot if two players who play the same position were ruled out for any length of time.

Matthew Le God Posted 28 January, 2013 Share Posted 28 January, 2013 shay given, sort out the gk 'crisis' with kd as back up. What "keeper crisis"? What is wrong with Artur Boruc? He has been very good now that he has been given a run in the team. Given is very much on the decline, there is good reason why he is 2nd choice in a poor Aston Villa side. also we need a goal scorer. if lambert gets done in, where do we get the goals from. not just scoring, but creation, lay offs, etc. jrod not doing it. Again, Rodriguez has looked good in recent games, he hasn't racked up a huge amount of goals because he rarely plays upfront with Lambert doing so well. He is fine as cover and long term replacement for Lambert.
