The January 2013 HCDAJFU thread...

Dibden Purlieu Saint

I'm not reading into it but I saw it and it does make you wonder. Team and everyone else still out in Barca but communication officer flies back early, presumably with Tom Coull (cameraman). Curious?

EDIT: Also photographer has flown back

@Wattsypics: Back in England after a very encouraging few days with squad in Spain. There looking hot! Very impressed with new set up #saintsfc

U18 game tomorrow maybe the reason

Natural pessimism.

- Even after -10 points and 24th in League One in 2009 to 15th in the Premier League in 2013?

- Even after circa £37m spent on players already this season?

- Even after Cortese sacking Adkins and appointing a new manager to take Saints to the top 6 in 3/4 years?

I doubt we are done for transfers this window.

I didn't start supporting Saints in 2009........

Im a positive fan but also not convinced we will add anyone else.

Clearly CB was the no 1 priority which we have covered.

Coutinho aside (and reports conflict as to how interested we actually were) there havent really been a whole load of links.

Pochettino in his interviews has been keen to stress he will look at Academy players before bringing players in.

A wide player would help but IMO is not an essential.

Plus we have spent a lot this season already, and havent sold anyone for any kind of fee to recoup anything.

Would be nice to be suprised but Im not expecting anything next week.

This. Though it would be nice to have another potential signing rumoured to give us something to talk about!

If we did have 10m to spend on Countinho I wouldn't be surprised if we spent it somewhere, such as Ince or Biglia or Cajellon

We might just wait til the right player is available in the summer. Will be interesting to see. These big money deals take time to put together and there are 4 days left...

I don't think he will ever get an international call up while playing in England but I see what you are saying. Could be a good option as this other guy has gone to Liverpool.

I agree, Bacon sandwiches are far better than Sausage no matter what flavour sausages you use.

You need to get the right bread though

But despite the fact of the sell on clause, surely Liverpool will still get the money for him, and Blackpool will still get the same amount!?

Fair point :)

I actually think Ince has got more end product than Zaha. 8 Million is still a lot of money for him. Bet he still ends up at Liverpool.

Why has everyone gone off Phillips so quickly?

Fans (and clubs quite often) seem to base so much on form rather than ability/potential. Phillips looked brilliant a year ago. The ability and potential is still there, and his price no doubt far lower.

Personally thought Ince was the better player last year, or at least the one with more potential.

The issue with sell on clause is that Liverpool have an automatic built in advantage in any bidiing auction as they can bid a figure nett of the sell on amount and all others have to bid a figure including the sell on amount!
