Would be extremely harsh on Cork if he's dropped and we bring in Biglia.....What has Biglia done to prove he is so much better ? Cork has proved he makes a huge difference and him and Morgan have been playing alongside each other for 2 years now.

tbf to Biglia, he is an Argentinean international, captain of Anderlecht and playing in the Champions League. I'm happy with Cork and Schneiderlin, but if we bring in players like Biglia, I won't complain at the extra competition in the squad.

I can see why he was brought on at that time last night though. Has pace, can run at tired defenders. I'm not sure that's Lee's game.

But no one is ever scared or intimidated by someone running at them when it is clear he can't even run with the ball...

Apart from the friendly vs them, who has actually seen him play - especially competitively? I've not but Cork and Morgan are integrual to how we play.

I have seen him play for Anderlecht this season. Couldn't pretend to be overwhelmed but as I was just there as a casual spectator I didn't really take much notice of individuals. We'll have to see what he's like at a far higher level where consistency over 95 minutes is required. Have to watch the "migraines" though. :D

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce says he is finding it tricky to bring in the defensive reinforcements he needs. "We've been trying in the whole of the window to try and bring in a defender, but not been able to clinch a deal yet," he said. "That is probably because we have been looking for a short-term deal in loans, as in terms of not permanent deals."

What a very very odd thing to look for. Why are they looking at just loans ? I don't understand their short term planning?!

They were skint before the prem more or less, I imagine that the prem payout has helped but no idea how much ?

well according to Alou Diarra their recruitment doesn't make much sense anyway. They buy players, sell the club to them on the ambitions of the club and then....don't play them. West Ham have too many players already and few will go there to be cast aside without being given a chance. So it's not unsurprising that few want to commit long term to them, test and try before you buy sort of thing.

Sounds a bit of a mess, and they will suffer if Diame leaves - his release clause is £3.5m or something.

clubs aren't fallling over themselves for him though, don't know why that is, probably got some latent weaknesses that you only see if you watch him through a microscope for all of the game.

Was crap vs us at Upton Park. But clearly a good player to have and integral to WHU. Rumours have it Arsenal are interested but he is on big money at WHU - around £60k/week I heard. Could see QPR going in for him if they fail with M'Vila

I think Spurs will get Diame.

They are sniffing around with Sandro's injury and the fact Parker just isn't good enough.

Arsenal seem to have real problems signing players just now. Thought they were after M'Vila but he's seemingly going to Russia for a shedload a week. 80K a week after tax if you believe L'Equipe.

Wasn't that David Villa?

when did Parker become not good enough? Has his legs gone? He certainly didn't have the energy in the Euros, but he was coming back from injury as a I recall.

Rather have Lee playing than SDR, far more class on the ball.

For starters Lee is not a left or right midfielder. As for having far more class on the ball, when dod he show that then? Just an ever so slightly better Lee Barnard in my book. Proved absolutely nothing in a Saints shirt IMO.

AVB doesn't rate him, me saying it was a fact is probably premature, but in my opinion it showed on Sunday especially he doesn't have the energy for a top side like Spurs.

Another one, maybe? (or maybe not)

It's a joke by kebe. He is not going there

Kebe got into a bit of trouble just before Christmas for slagging off the new owner in the local press. Kebe was complaining about the lack of cash being spent on transfers in the summer, and the indication, at the time, that no money would be spent in January.

I wouldn't be surprised if Forren is the only new face this transfer window.

you might be right there. The two serious links seem to be for players that aren't coming. Mayuka might feel like a new signing when he returns from the Jan window should MP find a way to utilise him perhaps more often off the bench.

Can't be too complacent with Newcastle and QPR both strengthening. Confident that Forren will be a valuable addition to play ahead of Fonte/Hooiveld and that MP will have decided if a midfield addition is needed, but personally I'd like to see some more quality ahead of JWP / Davis.

His name is Lucas Biglia

Yup not sure I can see you getting anyone else now, its all been a bit too quiet for too long now

I don't have a clue who you support, but that's what we do.

Newcastle really are strengthening well, even if there is a distinctive French theme there, but as we've seen from QPR, good players don't always gel together. That said I do think Newcastle will pull clear now. I see Loic Remy's gone and pulled a hammy. Poor QPR, not a lot is going their way. > I thought Reading would spunk a bit of cash in this window but they haven't yet - a couple of lucky come-from-behind wins doesn't a good team make.

I do hope we add one or two more to the team. A flair player with a knack of changing a game would be nice - I don't know anything really of Coutinho, but someone with creativity a la Lallana. (In addition to Lallana, not in place of.) It's all gone rather quiet since the lads went to Spain.

If we added another Jap they'd surely increase the attention we get over there? Tokyo Saint, where are you?

The Japanese press is now including full spread photos in their match reports of our games #big time

@JFBLucas Disappointing lack of exclamation marks, @TomCoull could teach them a thing or two! Good flight back?

@jordansibley Yep, smooth and stress-free. Landed to news of a giant-killing, too. Enjoy your last day.

Why would Jim Lucas (Saints Communication Officer) fly back from the Barcelona trip before everyone else? An imminent announcement at SMS perhaps or just me reading between the lines and having a 2+2=5 moment?

I'm not reading into it but I saw it and it does make you wonder. Team and everyone else still out in Barca but communication officer flies back early, presumably with Tom Coull (cameraman). Curious?

EDIT: Also photographer has flown back

@Wattsypics: Back in England after a very encouraging few days with squad in Spain. There looking hot! Very impressed with new set up #saintsfc
