Is that now the only criteria for transfers? It's about all they could offer.

Read this about Earnshaw and tell me again that he cdajfu........ I dare you

On 20 September, after dropping down the pecking order at Cardiff, Earnshaw moved to Israel with Maccabi Tel Aviv on a season-long loan, and was given the number 19 shirt.[46] After joining Maccabi Tel Aviv, Earnshaw believes joining the club will make him a better player once he returned to Cardiff City and says he has a chance to work with the club's Sports Director Jordi Cruyff.[47] Earnshaw spent part of the 2012 Israel-Gaza conflict in Tel Aviv, during which he expressed his shock at the city coming under rocket fire saying "I looked over at these guys who had many years’ service in the army. They knew exactly what was going on. One of them shouted that we had to take cover up by the side of the dressing rooms, so we just ran after them. Then we heard a loud bang of the Iron Dome – a new protection system used to intercept rockets. We then had to protect ourselves from all the shrapnel coming down"

Earnshaw has subsequently been sent back to Cardiff from Tel Aviv, where manager Malky Mackay has apparently deemed him surplus to requirements. It was confirmed on the 4th of january that he would be leaving cardiff at the end of january in order to find himself a new club.

Daily Mail reporting that Liverpool are only prepared to offer £4m for Thomas Ince - Blackpool want £6m.

Would like to see us make a move.

The player would never join us if a club like Liverpool are interested. We would simply end up as the stalking horse to push the Liverpool deal through.

We should swap Hooiveld and De Ridder and some cash for Douglas from Twente.

Astori and Douglas would give us a real chance of staying up - and who knows they might both give us a season in the Championship if we went down - and certainly a great chance of coming back up.

Alternatively if we don't want to spend that kind of money we should get Upson and Dawson in on loan for the rest of this season.

Zaha at Palace would be great - but I think we missed our moment for him in the summer. It's the same with Ince as well now I expect.

Matt Phillips would be my realistic choice now for some pace and width up front - and he's more likely to stay with us if we go down.

Olsson from Blackburn for the left back slot would also be on my list. And Trippier from Burnley for the right back slot.

To be honest I think we need to keep one eye on signing players that would stay with us - and give us at least one season in the Championship - and a great chance of getting promoted again - if we did go down.

Sensible choices, I agree.

No, not in that segment anyway.

Big Dave Merrington said we should buy a centre-back, and mentioned Zaha & Ince as the types of players in attacking positions we should be going for.

Big Dave falls off the "must buy premiership experience" posters christmas card list. I don't often agree with him, but both would be on my shopping list.

            Butland

      Fonte Astori

Clyne Shaw

         Morgan Cork

Coutinho Lallana

            Ramirez

            Lambert

Subs - Boruc, Davis, Mayuka, Rodriguez, Puncheon, JWP, Yoshida

Just a fun look at how our team could look, if our potential targets come off. You have to say that the bench looks pretty strong on the back of that as well. Lots of options on there to come on and change the game, which you can't say we have at the moment.

What if Twente don't want Hooiveld and/or De Ridder? Do they not have a choice?

Why would Spurs or Stoke loan Dawson or Upson? In the summer Spurs only wanted to sell him and he has captained them this season.

It's easy to make these lists but in reality it's harder than just saying 'Get him, swap him for him etc'.

And it would only take a couple of losses with that team for Adkins to be under unbearable pressure
