Boruc only got dropped because of that ridiculous water bottle incident, otherwise I think he would've been given a much longer run in the team.

And Gazza lost his place due to injury. Apart from that diddig got it spot on.

The Boruc incident saw him miss two games until the club confirmed no further action would take place and he was no where to be seen until Gazza picked up a knock whoch saw Davis come in only to be dropped for Boruc after a couple of games.

In any case, we didn't sign the unfit Boruc until our 5th game of the season where Davis had already been struggling.

Again, if people want to question how the GK situation was dealt with in the summer and throughout the season I wouldn't say they are being unreasonable.

Agree - Boruc only brought in because Davis was so woeful.

The fans that abused him in the Chapel are as much to blame for where we are in the league as any transfer dealings though. If he had got a run of games he would be flying now IMO.

Why does everyone keep saying we're a keeper short when we have 3? Boruc is just getting a run in the team now. You won't be getting a better keeper than one who performed very well in Serie A last season. Amazing how quickly fans become ridiculous spoilt.

I take it you didn't attend the Arsenal game? The fans gasped everytime the ball was played back, and when it really did need to be played back under pressure the players decided against it.

You have just made this up.

His long kicking was a bit off, but his short kicking was fine and the ball was played back to him on several occasions. His throws were excellent. He also dealt well with that underhit pass back with minimal fuss.

Totally agree, it was just a shakey first 15 minutes and then he held his own well.

Why is this not in the Boruc thread?

don't quite see how an extra £5 will change much. :?

LOL. Pretty sure Forest have got the clout, regardless. But I expect them to at least make an offer fairly soon.

I'd personally extend his loan with them rather than sell. IF the worst happens and we go down, a front 2 of Sharp & J-Rod would be very handy.

Realistically would Sharp have the hunger to come back and do a good job for us?

If Forest offer us what we paid for him I think we should probably do the deal.

Forest have cash now, they got taken over in the summer, so have cash to spend. Sharp realistically isnt good enough for us, he is essentially a one dimensional player and we have enough firepower here atm in J Rod, Mayuka and Rickie who are all better than him, if we DO move for a striker Id want him to be better than we have

As for McGolddrick, quelle surprise he has ended up a decent enough champ player, he really wasnt that bad at us if I remember he was the whipping boy, as was a certain mr Lallana back then

Not sure how some people havent picked up on this yet. Davis has been in EVERY MATCHDAY SQUAD this season. Whether thats playing, or on the bench.

He's a brilliant keeper. Definitely one of Wigan's main reasons for potentially staying up. Really rate him. Wigan would want top wedge for him.

wobbly against Utd though, palmed the ball out at Hernandez's feet for Utds first (I think it was their first, watched far too much football lately to be sure) . Most keepers seem to be having trouble with these balls from time to time.

From watching them play maybe?

Do you really think Sharp is better?

I would say Sharp is a better goalscorer yes. Rodriguez has more potential for sure but whether he is a better striker now I don't know. I would prefer Sharp in the team so possibly. Mayuka I have been really disappointed in, he's looked poor each time I have seen him for Saints, control non-existant, no real threat etc.

£4m they reckon, I mentioned him the other day. Not really a player we need though is it?

Our strength in depth in the attacking midfield isn't all that great, I think we could do with him.

Obviously defence is a priority.

I'd happily take Tim Cahill on a short term loan - Goalscoring midfielder, not shy of a tackle etc. Probably not what we're looking for right now though. Failing that I'd Look for two players one being a CB and another being a GK.

Using that as a yardstick, I'd go for Liverpool's Brad Jones on loan until end of the season for a keeper as they've still got Doni and both'll sit behind Reina for a while. Also dependant on how "in shape" Richard Wright is too as he did a good job here before, again as a loan signing. But then again Cudicini would be a good shout (or anyone from Spurs's GK department)

CB - Hmmm, Difficult, Can't see past Dawson/Upson wouldn't put it past us looking to scandinavia/eastern europe for a no nonsesne head it/kick it defender

As a ambitious loan - Federico Macheda - why not?!

Brad Jones is alright, but I can't see them letting him go.

Richard Wright, no thanks, the guy was awful for Preston and Ipswich. Man City signing him was such a weird transfer.

Macheda - why not? Because he is utterly rubbish. Like proper awful.

Will have to disagree then. Sharp is a very good championship 18 yeard box goal scorer, nothing more.

Rodriguez outscored sharp last season and I think the season before and has a much better all round game than sharp does.

Mayuka is a talent but has so far been a strange signing for us. He's a central striker but is behind Lambert and Rodriguez in the pecking order so hasn't had much opportunity there. He was excellent when he came on against Villa and Spurs but consistency is a problem as I guess he's still learning the wider positions if that's where the club want to play him.

Man City signed Wright because they did not have enough English players in their squad. They subsequently signed Sinclair so they one over now!

Did he though?

2010 - 2012 Goals per game ratio:

Sharp: 34 in 64 (0.531) and 19 in 35 last season (15 in 29 2010-2011)

Rodriguez: 29 in 79 (0.37) and 15 in 37 last season (14 in 42 2010-2011)

Donny are a far worse team than Burnley were. Quite a difference there don't you think?

Rodriguez actually scored 21 goals in 42 games for Burnley last season. I thought he had scored more than Billy in the league but was incorrect there.

Rodriguez is still a better all round player and some of his goals came from the wing for Burnley, not something Sharp would be able to do.

Everton where also keen on Rodriguez in the summer, I haven't seen even a sniff of speculation linking Sharp with a premier league team. There is a reason for that.

Pointless discussion really seeing as Sharp isnt here and Jay Rod is. I hope we sell Sharp so that people stop bringing him up every 5mins.

Have a listen to any NA comments recently about him - he isn't coming back because NA doesn't think he would get any games for us. From the horses mouth.

Doni has gone missing apparently, went to Brazil and hasn't come back so I doubt Liverpool will let Jones go as he's already been used a lot. Also don't think he's any better than what we have.

Should we maybe be looking at Diame? QPR interested and a reported £3.5 million release clause, would add some stregth and power in the midfield.

WH are trying to redo Diame's contract to take out the clause.

Would need to pay 3.5m and then offer 60k a week to have any chance. Seeing as he was available on a free last season (and perhaps has been slightly overrated due to a couple of good performances) I think Saints will pass.

Sorry, but what makes you think that either JRod or Mayuka are better than Sharp?

Well, Mayuka is reportedly a hot prospect and has pace which offers us a different option to what we already have. He has only really had one game upfront for us and was a little rusty but I liked his running against Sunderland.

J Rod looks like he will be a good player for me, scores goals at champ level like sharp but has more to his game.

Sharp offers you a poacher, no more, and I dont think he will fit into the fluid front line that we have.

He wont come back in Jan, he wont come south, he wont be happy not making the bench and he hasnt shown me any different to the day I wasnt bothered we loaned him out.

I thought you meant in the League as it is a fairer way to compare as that is completely subjective with the teams you play in the cup, for instance those additional goals were scored against Burton Albion (where he scored 4, 2 penalties and 2 in extra time) and Barnet. I wouldn't bring them up as it means nothing.

What I would say is that we already have a striker that drops deep to look for the ball, or pulls out wide. We need our other striker to play to score goals, and Rodriguez doesn't do that as well as Sharp.

Everton may well have been keen, but frankly that doesn't mean a great deal. We were keen on Dann by all accounts, doesn't mean he's good.
