ibizasaint Posted 1 January, 2013 Posted 1 January, 2013 Good spot, didn't Moyes play centre- back? Not sure Everton will let him go though. Guly is Moyes younger brother which could help him ease into our set up.
Saints boy in Leeds Posted 1 January, 2013 Posted 1 January, 2013 with that money spent, you cant go down...no way..that is QPR spending I agree its a lot of doller but some players cost £45 million alone. If we want to mix it up with the big boys we can't do it with the current squad. IMO we only need a GK, CB, LB, and CF.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 1 January, 2013 Posted 1 January, 2013 (edited) GUOTE=Saints boy in Leed67557]I agree its a lot of doller but some players cost £45 million alone. If we want to mix it up with the big boys we can't do it with the current squad. IMO we only need a GK, CB, LB, and CF. Why do we need a LB when we've got arguably the best young LB in the UK playing for us and a decent backup in Fox??? Agree that a GK (Robinson), CB, CF are all important, but also a Lallana/Puncheon type wide man is also needed. The key is in the quality and experience of signings though- critical to survival hopes that we get better than what we have. Edited 1 January, 2013 by Saint Fan CaM
Chez Posted 1 January, 2013 Posted 1 January, 2013 Everton boss David Moyes is eyeing up a six-month loan deal for Manchester City winger Scott Sinclair, 23. Full story: the Sun HCDAJFU....what a great shout. Expect we'd be a long way down the queue.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 1 January, 2013 Posted 1 January, 2013 what a great shout. Expect we'd be a long way down the queue. Though his brother is here.
Smirking_Saint Posted 1 January, 2013 Posted 1 January, 2013 What about Landon Donavon on a short deal ? Looked the business for Everton
Restark19 Posted 1 January, 2013 Posted 1 January, 2013 What about Landon Donavon on a short deal ? Looked the business for Everton Good shout, think he said he doesn't want to come back to the PL though. Not sure about that though.
SuperMikey Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Donavon plays up top or in the hole, think we've got loads of options there. Need a winger really, doubt he'd want to come here to play out of position.
david in sweden Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Reading have signed the sporting captain, a CB, for 600k. Bargain. that's what people said about Gorkyss (?) last season when he didn't sign for Saints.....whatever happened to him btw?
david in sweden Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 for 600K£ he's probably got a wooden leg or something.[/QUOTE] ...or a wooden head ?
hypochondriac Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 that's what people said about Gorkyss (?) last season when he didn't sign for Saints.....whatever happened to him btw? I thought he did excellently last year didn't he?
vin Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Liverpool are looking to loan out Sebastian Coates apparently - thought he looked good in the Olympics for Uruguay. Gaston may also appreciate a fellow countryman at the club.
Thedelldays Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 I agree its a lot of doller but some players cost £45 million alone. If we want to mix it up with the big boys we can't do it with the current squad. IMO we only need a GK, CB, LB, and CF. The players that cost £45m alone go to teams serious about winning the champions league. We want to finish 17th and mixing it with the likes of reading, Norwich and Wigan. Who I'm guessing, we have spent more than the lot of them combined
itchen_dan Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 We're looking at this guy apparently. Another striker. Ilombe Mboyo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilombe_Mboyo
St.Patrik Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Been in Prison - he was part of a gang rape : / OK he payed he price for that but still not the kind of players I would like to see in a Saints shirt. Well thats my oppinion anyway.
Saint Charlie Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Seems like a poor player and a poor person from reading about him. His main You Tube video is titled 'Worst Penalty Ever' and is an embarassment of an effort.
dubai_phil Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Dear Mr Cortese It is now mid morning on 2nd January. Will you PLEASE pull your finger out and sign SOMEONE with proven World Class ability, PL experience, pace, creativity, defensive nous is better in the air than SRL, and who is 23 years old or similar. Oh and he needs to play on both wings at the same time. Otherwise I (and I don't doubt some others) will be forced to read another 400 pages of inane drivel from a manic depressive in Europe. Thanks in anticipation. D_P
Aura Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Still scratching my head as to why we are looking at strikers we have enough firepower.
Olallana Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 What about Douglas from Twente? Apparently are Reading in for him but surely he could do better. His contract is due this summer so could be relatively cheap...
Mouldy Coat Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 We're looking at this guy apparently. Another striker. Ilombe Mboyo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilombe_Mboyo The African Jimmy Saville.....no thanks
jjsaint Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 The African Jimmy Saville.....no thanks Exactly. Let him go to a club with no moral fibre like QPR or the sh*te down the road. He's also rubbish. And we don't need another striker surely?!?!
old_southy Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 I think we need the most urgent transfer activity is at the back... GK Marc-André Ter Stegen- young but very commanding german keeper http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1324524-top-50-young-players-in-world-football-right-now-21-and-under/page/38 or try and temp Hanover into selling Man United prospect Ron Robert-Zieler http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron-Robert_Zieler Both would be excellent choices imo and cheaper and more experienced than Butland. DEFENDERS Unsettled Serb Slobodan Rajkovic has class and could definitely do a job But I would really loved to see NC stump up the cash and buy this bloke http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toby_Alderweireld

Saint Charlie Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 I like the CB pairing we have already, we need cover not a starter. Absolute rubbish. If Fonte gets injured vs Chelsea or Villa and is out for the season then "cover" becomes "starter". As NA said pre Arsenal, anyone who comes in has to improve us. Whoever comes in might not start straight away but if they are not as good as Yoshida or Fonte then why the hell would we sign them. To improve we need to but better than what we have. If Yoshida keeps playing well he will stay in the side, but we arent going to purposely buy a "cover" player. No chance.

Charlton have a young CB call Dan Seaborne who impresses me. Would be a good back up CB signing IMO.
Badger Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Charlton have a young CB call Dan Seaborne who impresses me. Would be a good back up CB signing IMO. And lets not forget Gillingham's future England goalie in the making, Forecast whilst we're at it.
old_southy Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Fonte is punching above his weight at the moment. I think we need to bring in some real premiership quality at CB and GK and so we don't start next season like we did this or even worse, last.

True barometer of all these things being Football Manager. Interestingly (well, not really) I singed both him and Davide Astori for Saints. Defence looks decent. Stegen set me back £21m.
Lighthouse Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Not so much a HCDAJFU but Ba leaving Newcastle is surely good news for us. Lets just hope they don't reinvest the money wisely.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 2 January, 2013 Author Posted 2 January, 2013 Not what we need but decent player none-the-less. "West Bromwich Albion midfielder Graham Dorrans has been told he can look for a new club this month, according to the Press Association. The Scotland international was left out of West Brom's 18-man squad for their 1 January defeat to Fulham despite being fit."

Lets just hope they don't reinvest the money wisely. they've lined up Debuchy already, so that will shore up their defence a bit. Then they'll go for another front man but their problems won't end until they get Cabaye back.
MOSaint Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Not so much a HCDAJFU but Ba leaving Newcastle is surely good news for us. Lets just hope they don't reinvest the money wisely. They are allegedly ready to pay 10m for Loic Remy, who was widely coveted a couple of years ago, but has only scored 1 goal in 14 in Ligue 1 this season.

Not worth half that because he is a total sicknote of late. Then again that happens a lot at Marseille. There's always friction and skullduggery everywhere at the OM.

I may be way off the mark, but wasn't he linked with Spurs for a fee about twice that a couple of years ago? Or was that someone else?
Window Cleaner Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 I may be way off the mark, but wasn't he linked with Spurs for a fee about twice that a couple of years ago? Or was that someone else? No the OM bought him for a lot from Lyon, maybe 18/20 million euros so double would be feasible in a rumoured Lyon-Spurs move at the time. That was when they were financed by Dreyfuss (Adidas). Bought Remy and Gignac for a total of about 40 million euros. Gignac has started scoring again since Deschamps has gone but Remy is still often injured.

Window Cleaner Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Best player for QPR this season according to QPR forums may be but he was excruciatingly bad on Sunday.
Smirking_Saint Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Shaun Wrong-Phillips ? No thanks, we had one of them already, he was bad enough
Olallana Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 What about SWP? Not in QPR squad tonight........... will they lose points now playing an unregistered player??
