Saints V QPR Build Up

As posted above, I had the same problem yesterday. In the end I went to the ticket office this morning and bought mine. I pointed out that I had tried online yesterday but it said my seats were locked. There was a look of despair accompanied by a shrug of the shoulders so it's obviously not an uncommon occurrence. It's a load of hassle having to do a 40 odd mile trip there and back through Southampton just to buy tickets because their system is c**p. Excluding the ability to buy over the telephone as an alternative is a nonsense and if you ring the ticket office for help you often can't get through at all. You just get the message saying they're all busy so please ring back later.

I emailed the ticket office to explain the problem encountered as I did whenI encountered the same problem trying to get Arsenal away tickets but I got no reply then and don't expect to get one now. All I'm trying to do is buy tickets. Surely they want to sell them.

Oh, and by the way, the ticket office wasn't busy this morning and I suspect that there were still quite a few tickets left.

I had the same problem, but kept trying and found 5th time lucky.

I also had to "queue" for 10 minutes to get "in" to the online store at 9:05, apparently because of a rush for Liverpool away tickets?

On a tangent has anyone got any ideas on pubs around the ground that are best to go to? first away game of the season, really up for it, hopefully its a successful day!

The walkabout on Shepherds bush green (next to the SB Empire) is one that away fans are welcome at. The ones closer to the ground arent allowed to sell alcohol just before/after games due to a court order.

yeah had seen about the walkabout guess thats where most will head I reckon! Says a lot about surrounding area if there not allowed to sell booze! We get into Shephards Bush around midday so looks as though walkabout will be the shout!

Defector's Weld is a great boozer. Unfortunately that and Green's next to it are home supporters only pubs on QPR match days. The Queen Adeleide is a good boozer (if slightly upmarket) which is further along Uxbridge Road. There is also the Walkabout and O'Neill's right nearby Shepherd's Bush Empire venue. Slightly further afield, there are good boozers in Brook Green and on Shepherd's Bush Road. The White Horse is also a home supporters only pub supposedly, but they let us in there last time I went to Loftus Road.

IF all goes well I'm gonna TRY a first on Saturday....

Gonna TRY and post a Nun pic from 40,000 feet on an A380 in the matchday fred.

That should be a tactical move that Hughesie has no answer to.

(Of course depends on roaming & the plane having the new tech)

This is another way of saying I am farking working AGAIN and will miss the game in the pub with the gang

out of interest, what was our record away to the top 6 in the NPC last season...MAY give an indication how successful adkins is in approaching these games

Reading D 1-1

West Ham D 1-1

Brum D 0-0

Blackpool L 3-0

Cardiff L 2-1

Middlesborough L 2-1

So 0 wins, 3 draws and losses,

And in none of those games did we have Ramirez, Mayuka, Rodriguez, Clyne, Yoshida, S. Davis, Gazzaniga, Shaw, Ward-Prowse or Boruc, so you really can't take much from them.

And none of those teams had Caeser, Bosingwa, Hoilett, Cisse, Tarabit playing for them, so what's your point?

Not necessarily, it is entirely dependant on the qualities of the 17 year old in question.

He could end up being the greatest left back that ever lived but chances are if you throw a 17 year old in mistakes will happen.

I'm not saying he shouldn't play, just saying it smacks of desperation.

That using those 6 games from last season to judge how Saturday's game will pan out is pointless.

Quite. No one would think megasolentCity containing Boruc, Clyne, Rodriguez, Davis etc would get battered at West Ham after drawing their last season.

Jeez - not a must win - far too early in the season, but for sure a should win. If believe in ourselves, and believe we are are a mid table side, we really should be putting these away. **** defence or not, with our firepower we should win by two or three - I'm going for 4-2.

What fire power?

We are hardly knocking them in are we?

absolutely buzzing for the game, taking a strong support up there, must make it an atmosphere to inspire the players, has been seen how important the fans are to NA as he always comments on us, make the away end a sea on red, white, yellow (whatever colour were in) and be the '12th man' as we get our first away win of the season!

At least judging my this thread we are starting to be more aware what our best team is, that will help a lot.

Yoshida will be travelling back from Oman on Thursday which is a pain.

The only reality I have seen is that many at least realise that Ramirez is the vital ingredient but many still don't realise how much he has to raise his game to drag this lot of sorry arses into contention. Adkins gave up the fight against WBA to minimise the pain, just now picking his best players and trying to get that into some form of effective shape. Their game plan was so basic even simple cell organisms should have seen through it, yet we could not get enough. WBA played a 451 at home against us, gave us all the space against a defensive set up and just picked us off on the counter. If they wanted to up things they just targeted the obvious areas of weakness and pressurised in numbers for everything to open up before them. Swansea's open style of play was the easiest we have had to deal with, yet they no longer have the edge they once did. In taking that space away from us we ended up defending in a more conservative though hardly pulling them apart up front.

We have so many broken ends exposed throughout the pitch that even small individual errors will get magnified and punished. Most can see that extra man is vitally required in midfield to hold everything together, not everyone can see that it still requires to be compact for it to work successfully. Just give our midfield the space and they will open themselves up to take it all on and still trying to work out why they have lost control. The answer seems simple enough, just bring the back 4 up such you don't have these spaces for the opposition to work on, only to find that you have now exposed all our back four for easy pickings again. Throwing that extra player into midfield has an immediate effect upon the attack where it becomes isolated and easily marshalled. Ricky may well be our best forward but he is about the worst in this role. We need a lone striker with pace who can generate his chances alone and the best we come near here is Mayuka. What we have to do is give ourselves a chance in the last 15 minutes of the game to effect the outcome which cannot happen if the game is all ready over. Don't always be first to blink as the opposition will be more ****ed off with a draw than ourselves.

We have such a mediocre set of players that we are always going to be found wanting lining up against every team man for man. We have to play smart just to eke out draws, let alone wins. I expect QPR at home to set up defensively with a 451 against us and invite us on. If we continue as we have been set up wise and players, I fully expect them to have an easy victory. Unless we do something different the results will not change and there are no guarantees things will change. At least we will know we have left no stone unturned to find the answer.

Bit unfair on Lambert, he did set up the goal v Swansea.

A good detailed analysis - great post to be honest and I agree with pretty much everything you've written. Interesting that Ian Dowie in his interview reckons that a manager needs to stick to his game plan and yet you suggest that things need to change to effect a win - I agree. If the players are the same, then it's the manner in which they are marshalled in a game plan that will determine success or otherwise. Thing is, QPR have the pace players in Tarabt and Hoillet to hurt us on the break and this will win them the game. We must not under any circumstances allow them time on the ball. Morgan and Cork will have their work cut-out containing Tarabt - Hoillet is a different matter altogether...
