Mr X Posted 11 November, 2012 Author Share Posted 11 November, 2012 Adkins has just said on Radio Solent that Shaw had cramp. Hope that answers your question...[/quote I was referring to not bringing on fresh legs up front for the last twenty mins when they equalised it was clear lambert and ramerez were tiring but no people on here just assume fox

You and Thedulldays would doubtless now be screaming for him to be sacked because he did make the subs. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. FWIW, I don't think 'fresh legs' in attack would have made the slightest difference yesterday. Swansea sat back and defended with 10 men behind the ball to hold out for the draw. Bringing on somebody with a bit more pace only makes sense if the oppo are pushing forward chasing the game, otherwise it is surely better to keep your more talented players on the pitch. Adkins called it right IMO.
ottery st mary Posted 11 November, 2012 Share Posted 11 November, 2012 (edited) \ Typical bedwetters. Grow the **** up. Adkins did nothing wrong and that was a fantastic performance. Fox added plenty of attacking runs when he came on for a shattered Shaw. How about you actually go to a game instead of relying on commentators views and reactions? Saved me ...totally correct...Shaw had played really well but had run out of legs...correct sub at that time. Individual error by Gazza as he should have belted the first ball to him into row Z....Then would not have ponced about with silly pass to Yoshida. The ball SHOULD NEVER have come right back to our goal from an attacking position in their right hand corner bring out and go left or go back to same corner etc. Cork had a very good game and his presence helped Morgan......improved game but STILL NOT the anchorman for me. Took his goal well:) Puncheon played very well but still gets slated by a few idiots who have no clue what he brings to the side. Regardless of what others say..I was close to Lallana incident in the first half down the left side of their penaly box...thought his sole intention was to go round the defender and was impeded. Some refs a penalty/others a dive. The ref got so many decisions wrong and was very poor. Even my Swansea mate said at least two penalties denied for the mighty Saints. IMHO.....I do not require debate or criticism as my daughter has stated the same correct opinion... Like her Mother, she is never wrong:D We should have won but a much improved performance.. FORGOT........LAST ten or fifteen Mayuka for a tiring Gaston and DAVIS FOR Cork or Morgan who were both knackered and had run their hearts out... How about QPR, less points than us, no wins, still have hung on to Hughes, agreed Hughes did not get them promoted?

I can defend Adkins no more he really is clueless! What was that all about? Make your mind up...Which is it? A scathing attack on a manager and, indeed, a whole new thread, for failing to make some substitutions that were no guarantee of a different result does not really constitute 'support' in my book. Charlie Wayman Posted 11 November, 2012 Share Posted 11 November, 2012 What? Shaw was done his legs had gone. Or are you refering to something else? Exactly. The guy was given energy supplements 15 mins before being subbed but he was so absolutely knackered just couldn't continue. Fox played really well once he was on the pitch - playing for his place no doubt. Other wise this thread is **** stirring rubbish and typically badly informed. OP were you watching at all. Saint Fan CaM Posted 11 November, 2012 Share Posted 11 November, 2012 Only one person made a mess of things yesterday and that was Gazza - an unforgivable error trying to pass out to Yoshida like that at 1-0 up. Not the first time its happened either which makes matters worse. I thought Shaw looked fantastic at LB - more assured than Fox and more mobile too. First starter from now on IMO. I was thinking at 85mins why NA had not freshened the team up with new legs up front - then I thought, no...he's learnt a lesson - he's sticking with the team that's on top. It was the CORRECT decision.

SaintBobby Posted 11 November, 2012 Share Posted 11 November, 2012 Shaw went over to the bench a few times, was obv asking to be subbed. I think there was a case for throwing on Mayuka, but starting with Shaw and Cork turned out to be an inspired decision.

eelpie Posted 11 November, 2012 Share Posted 11 November, 2012 I don't understand this thread with it's ambiguous title. What is it supposed to be about? Is it because: (a) NA substituted Shaw for Fox? (b) Fox should not be on the pitch because he is current scapegoat number 1? © we conceded a winning position? (d) NA made a substitution and therefore it must be a wrong one? Match Facts (courtesy of BBC) 72.13 minutes Dyer scores 73.20 minutes Fox on for Shaw So Fox was in no way responsible for Swansea leveling the score. And didn't he prevent a Swansea winner towards the end?

kpturner Posted 11 November, 2012 Share Posted 11 November, 2012 (edited) The OP, and any other thread contributors attempting to blame Adkins for our failure to get 3 points yesterday, either had their heads up their @rses for the whole match OR did not actually watch the match at all. KK the 2nd Posted 11 November, 2012 Share Posted 11 November, 2012 Thought it was a sensible sub. Shaw looked solid at LB and played well but didn't offer a lot going forward. We needed to chase the game at this stage and Fox is a more attacking option at LB. I do think Shaw looks better than Fox as a defender though. Otherwise we were playing well and can't argue about keeping the same shape and players on the pitch. It's all about opinions - I might have given Jay Rod a go in place of Sir Rickie or maybe Mayuka on for Punch but as I said I have no ruck with NA's decisions yesterday. david in sweden Posted 11 November, 2012 Share Posted 11 November, 2012 I can defend Adkins no more he really is clueless! What was that all about? Are you suggesting that he should have used subs? ...or? NA really is on a hiding to nothing from some people. Firstly if he uses subs. he did wrong. Now he 's wrong because he didn't ! WHO do YOU think he should have replaced ...????????? (given that Shaw had his home debut that some were screaming for ...and the lad got cramp. midway through the second half !)
