Saints vs Swansea Post Match Reactions

1st half very meh, 2nd half much much better until the equalizer. Really feel for Adkins on that one, I rate gazza but it's a big risk playing such an inexperienced keeper right now. To be honest tho the other 2 keepers have both made that same mistake this season and teams play on it. Getting punished for bad bad transfer business, who's fault is that?

Great goal from Morgan, great to see cork back tho the **** has got to learn how to shoot. Shaw did well, as did all the defenders which is a bonus.

Massive game next week. Very very frustrating today.

But no doubt we are going down IMO unless things drastically change.

The challenge on AL by Monk was as clear a foul as you will see. 90% sure it was in the area as well from the replays. The one on Clyne in the first half was also a foul anywhere else on the pitch.

I'm amazed to see threads blaming the manger today.

We actually defended well except for their goal - must be so disheartening for Adkins.

He still dived all the other times.

We were generally better at the back, ( except ofor ur obligatory 'suicide' moment ), and the midfield were much more in control with Cork replacing Davis. However, Adam is getting a reputation as a 'Suarez', and Rickie seems to lack confidence - regardless of letting in the goal we really should have been scoring 2 or 3 against that team, and the way we played in the first few games I think we would have. We seemed to completely bottle things when we took the lead. Rather than close the game out by pushing for #2 we sat back and invited them on.

I also thought Puncheon had one of his better games for us.

I thought we were too slow to play the final ball in to be honest, by the time the final pass went in Swansea had managed to crowd out the area most of the time.

Currently gutted we threw away another two points.

I feel. Angry.

However, I cannot blame the manager at all.

Continue to play like that (with that starting 11) and learn to close out the game and we will pick up a few more points 'til Jan.

Then we need one or two or three or four brilliant defenders.

No pont in panicking, as someone else said, no manager can improve the back four until Jan, so no point in changing. Let's learn what we can and keep pushing on.

that team that started has to start every game from here on. we are nearly getting there in terms of our shape. to be fair Swansea barely came to our half in the second 45, it is very unfortunate that the backline could not keep their concentration. enough with the chopping and changing already we are getting out of our slump soon I can feel it. no point changing managers, rafa Benitez or guardiola is not going to effect individual errors unless they're going to be out there playing in goal or defense. get a run going without losing and the confidence will start growing in the players and hopefully that will help cut out their individual erros. on a side note i felt shaw looked pretty good at left back

Another frustrating afternoon..... pretty deflated! Adkins could do no more, it was a solid tactical display. Didn't need any substitutes bar the one he made.

On to QPR which is an absolutely massive match. If we lose that one then QPR will find some form and pull away, then all of a sudden we're climbing Mount Everest as opposed to Ben Nevis.

lets be honest..we are going down very very quickly....they were nearly as bad as the fulham team that played here a few weeks ago...

they had loads of injuries at the back...their striker out...have no scored away from home since the opening day....

we had more of the ball it seemed but hardly worked their keeper....our skipper is a serial diver and the manager is out of his depth

down down down

I'm not not against Gazzinga but NA made a major call when he brought him back instead of the more experienced KD. Last week I thought had KD let those goals at WBA there would have been lots of questions asked, then today's mistake!! NA made another bad call in not bringing back KD who may well have added a bit of composure to the defence. NA is making major mistakes time and again. Another winnable gAme lost to someone else, to leave him in charge against QPR where it is a 6 pointer is a risk. I cannot see a good manager wanting to join if after next week we are a big gap from safety.

On bus on way back. Most of the game we played really. My fear recently is we have been getting worse. Not today. Absolutely

retarded defensive cock up cost us the 3 points. Thats not the managers fault. Yes Cortese looked ****ed off. Good. That shows he cares. I think once we click we will be a good side. Too many fans that went today do not remember the roller coaster that the Premier League was before.

Why? Adkins had the whole summer to sort out the defence and did nothing about it, what makes you think January will be any different?

Cortese spent nearly three weeks back and forth to Italy trying to finalise the Ramirez deal... and took the cheque book with him.

I'd love to have seen Adkins' "wish-list " because it must have been ignored totally.

Good performance. One mistake all game and punished.

Definite penalty, certain booking for williams which was his second. Ref bottled it.

Keep that team and we will pick up more points.

They need to learn that if in doubt put it in row Z or even AA

On my way home from the game. Was just about to write more or less the above. Nutshell.

Indeed, if we'd done as I suggested we should last May and signed an uncontested number 1 keeper then I really, really doubt that we'd be in our current siutuation. A crass management error and whoever made it should be gone by now because it was totally apparent that Davis wasn't good enough.

The formation that we played today seemed to suit us: 4-4-1-1. This gave the defence a bit more cover and allowed Ramirez to have some freedom. We had a lot of possession and created lots of good chances. We didn't put in enough shots, but overall it was much improved performance.

We need to cut out the individual errors at the back though. Giving away easy chances is becoming too much of a habit.

I think that the vocal support for Nigel at the game shows that there is a majority of the fans who want to keep him on.

I don't expect us to be a good side in the sense that I want, but I would like to see us become "Good enough" this season. It's not too late yet, but yes, the Prem is a real roller coaster ride, for sure.

My view FWIW:

We attacked too slowly at times meaning Swansea got plenty behind the ball quickly leaving us to try and walk the ball into the net.

Lallana has been going down too easily all season and it wouldn't surprise me if his card is marked along with Suarez, Young etc. Honestly it's embarrassing at times!!

Nigel wants us to pass the ball out from the back and our players try to do it all of the time. We did it in League One and the Championship and got away with it but we won't in the Premier League. Sometimes they need to just lump it whether Nigel likes it or not!!

We looked tired up front after about 70mins and could have done with fresh legs on, bizzare to leave J-Rod and Mayuka on the bench.

BUT we did look better and if it wasn't for one balls-up we would have taken the three points!

Most telling image was of Cortese and Les Reed deep in discussion at the end.

Will we have the bottle for the game we dare not lose next week?

The losing manager is probably gone in that one. If a draw, maybe both will be gone (that may be some sort of record!).

It really is all about points for us and I didn't like the set of Cortese's jaw at the final whistle, have to say ...

If the keeper belted the ball downfield rather than delivering a hospital ball, we would probably have won. Apart from that moment, we looked like winners today.

A lot of people on here need to put things in perspective. Get a grip and start looking forward to QPR.

It's hard to not agree with this. He is replacing his talent and form with play acting. That must be stopped by the coaches.

......adkins has to go......sad to say...

Sad indeed, infact, so sad that you keep saying it, and saying it, and saying it, almost to the point where you might think that you aren't all that sad about it.

Improvement today, bring on QPR.

Disappointing, really needed a win.

35 points needed from 27 games and TBH I'm not sure where we're going to get them from.

We need a win or two to get some confidence going.

Boruc in goal please for every game. Stop chopping and changing and stick with our best keeper.

They made a gesture which suggested shoving Nigel out the door.

at least there was only one mistake today, gutted because Gazza only had one other shot to save.

We actually look dangerous when we swallow our pride and get it in to the box, NA needs to ensure we played, as he preached, winning football not just pretty football, crosses to Lambert early with support running of him

Lambert is one of the problems, not scoring fairly simple chances. A real PL striker would put them away.Lallana isn't scoring either.

Today's goal came from a DM again.

Somehow we worked the ball the length of the pitch back to Gazza in two lumped passes and what did they expect him to do with it?

Why didn't Clyne go down in the area in the first half? Would have been a penalty.

Lallana had two shouts for penalties, first one he dived, not sure on the 2nd one but diving has been a massive problem from him in the last year. We don't need our captain to dive like he does.

Two points dropped, very disappointing. Awful atmosphere and another game where St. Mary's isn't a sale out.
