Saints vs Swansea Post Match Reactions

Architects of our own downfall once again. Swansea were there for the taking and we gifted them back into it.

Played much better I thought with Cork in CM instead of Davis, and we had two good shouts for a penalty, but that doesn't excuse the fact we should have taken all three points there today.

Gutted.

Not good enough. Adkins showed his mettle today by his bizarre decision to bring on Fox after they had just equalised. Time for him to walk and hope that somebody else can come in and get them defending. Also not impressed with gazzaniga to be honest, seems to be a lovefest on here for him, but I can hardly remember him making a save in the games he has been in goal. Boruc next week please.

We were BETTER. We had Ricky Lambert on for the whole game. We looked better defensively until the young keeper Gazza made that foolish error.

Not Adkins fault. Good substitutions. Good team selection. Good tactics.

We can iMPROVE with NA and more experience. On this performance we can stay up IMHO.

Stupid goalkeeper error for the clearance and Nathan Dyer was always going to score - it always happens to Saints, they come back to haunt us our ex players!!!

One error. One PLAYER error.

For me this was the most encouraging performance yet. More solid defensively and its great seeing Lambert, Clyne, Gaston Ramirez, Lallana particularly playing so well. Spiderman needs to be a little less French and more level headed sometimes for me, but he delivers as much as he makes mistakes. Puncheon is looking stronger too.

There's HOPE.

Well done Nigel Adkins. Take a sharp slap around the face Gazza.

The challenge on AL by Monk was as clear a foul as you will see. 90% sure it was in the area as well from the replays. The one on Clyne in the first half was also a foul anywhere else on the pitch.

I'm amazed to see threads blaming the manger today.

We actually defended well except for their goal - must be so disheartening for Adkins.

A much better performance, better going forward, more creative, more confident, better defensively... but yet again an individual error cost us dear. You can't blame the manager, formation or anything but the individual if they decide to do something stupid.

Gutted! We weren't great but did enough to win it, but made a terrible, terrible mistake again. Mind you we'd have probably only let one in at the death anyway had we been leading going in to stoppage time. My main concern is that we just don't seem to be able to lift our confidence. Too much nervous fannying around with the ball when incisive passing/shooting is needed. The corners we had were awful, only one produced a moment of danger. Pretty clear for everyone when Gaston puts both hands in the air that it is going right over the box to Ricky on the far side, talk about telegraphing it. At the death, Puncheon had a good chance to shoot but just ****ed around with it, not willing to take a chance and blast it. Adam is too powderpuff, all that diving around makes refs less likely to give us a pen, and sure enough when he got mugged on the edge of the box the ref didn't want to know. I liked the idea of Gaston and Ricky mixing up the free kick, but around the back to Fonte? All a bit weird.

From the way Adkins looked at the final whistle, I think it's time up, hope not, I don't see anyone decent enough to replace him at the moment.

He is very young, and does quite well at this level even at his age. He will be a really good keeper in the future, and at the moment, he has proved himself the best of our availablr keepers when taking into account the fitness and attitude of Boruc and the aging of Kelvin.

Frustrated is the best way to describe my feelings.

One mistake has cost us again. If it wasn't for that we'd all be sat here enjoying a conversation about what an improvement that game was.

IF Adkins keeps his job this week, then a first win for QPR next Saturday, will seal the sack in my opinion.

Played decent enough but still need more zip and tempo. Again shocking defensive error, you do not **** about with the football when you need a clean sheet and a win. Other than the mistake the keeper again showed signs to me that he is another clown in the Bialkowski mould. Yoshida had no awareness as to his surroundings when he peeled off to get the ball off the keeper. Very basic poor errors again

Had a fiver on us to win and a fiver on them to win. A result either way would have left me £12 better off or £17something better off. Guessed we'd have a 'mare and lose by 4 or sneak a win so would have been up. Draw meant I lost. Grrrr.

Good old Saints, always costing me money.

Should have won, kept Swansea quiet all game and pressed them continually. One defensive mistake and we wave 2 points goodbye.

Adkins does not deserve to go after that.

what about the five points return from a possible 33? If it was anyone other than the man who got us promoted he'd have been gone months ago

Your comments about Adkins are staggering. Shaw started his first PL game today at 17 (youngest every Prem appearance for Saints) and was tired. We needed to score and Fox, for all his defensive limitations, has an excellent delivery from set plays. Exactly what you need when time is running out.

I cannot point out anything that another manager would do differently. We play our best players, play good football and they mess it up. "don't have a poor touch to let Dyer in to score". Brilliant.

Obviously can't be Adkin's fault when a player does something ridiculous like that. But a cancer of incompetence does seem to have taken hold within the team and has been evident all season, and for that he has to held responsible.

On a separate issue, why does the like changing the left back after we concede? He did the same against Brom. Hardly seems the traditional response.

We were generally better at the back, ( except ofor ur obligatory 'suicide' moment ), and the midfield were much more in control with Cork replacing Davis. However, Adam is getting a reputation as a 'Suarez', and Rickie seems to lack confidence - regardless of letting in the goal we really should have been scoring 2 or 3 against that team, and the way we played in the first few games I think we would have. We seemed to completely bottle things when we took the lead. Rather than close the game out by pushing for #2 we sat back and invited them on.

I also thought Puncheon had one of his better games for us.
