Daily Mail on Cortese

One answer would be that Adkins identified areas he needed to strenthen, the transfer committee identified the individuals (remember Adkins is on that committee) and Cortese is responsible for agreeing terms and conditions. It is possible all took place but Cortese could not agree terms that he felt were reasonable. Buttner appears a good example of this where it is suggested, by Buttner, that terms and conditions had been agreed but then, it is suggested, someone wanted a cut and this was unacceptable to Cortese. We just do not know!

For me, and I continue to support Adkins, the lack of quality in positions identified is not down to him. If Cortese feels Adkins is making the right decisions and tactics and that it is down to quality then Adkins will continue as Manager and the player situation will be addressed in January. As I have said before, I just hope Cortese holds his nerve.

Cheers for the reply (and for taking my posts in the spirit they were intended).

I'm inclined to agree with most of what you've written.

My concern is that there is a lack of clarity over what is what at the club and it feels like Adkins has been positioned to take full responsibility for any club failures without being given the tools he needs to get results. I'm also concerned that Reed doesn't seem to think that the Adkins' job is as challenging or important as his.

I'll post the link again, as I think it's pretty clear why I'm coming to these conclusions: http://www.2ndyellow.com/2012/five-minutes-of-your-time-please-les-reed/

Incidently, re. the Buttner* issue: While I'm with Cortese on the dropping that - something smelt dodgy there - he is clearly hypersensitive to anything he might perceive as an attempt to take advantage of the club.

But I think this leads to some of the other issues discussed on this thread as he is coming from a different culture, where different things are acceptable (for example no free tickets for ex-players; rather 'matter of fact' customer service).

Where I'd criticise him on this is that it's all well and good saying everyone pays for their own tickets including him but it's rather hollow if the decision maker's pay package is generous enough to easily absorb it.

Adkins says he wants a midfielder. Reed, Cortese and Adkins, by committee, decide who is available and Cortese negotiates.

Adkins decides when, where and the tactics.

Simple really.

It all depends on how the committee works and what discussions went on. It is quite plausible that Adkins said he wanted two quality centre backs in the summer and Reed and Cortese thought it would be better to blow £12mill on Ramirez and get one cheap Japanese centre back.

Could explain why Adkins is not on the dole at the moment.

So Chez. We take this post as FACT do we and dismiss all the others as bullsh*t?

Weston's posts seems logical to me whilst stuff like "Guly's contract says he MUST play for 15 minutes in every game" has been proven to be inaccurate.

The other FACTs seem to be based on an Adkins quote saying he wanted one or two centre backs (he got one) giving rise to a conclusion that Adkins has no say in transfers. Oh and another Adkins quote saying all the teams must use the same formation to enable seamless transition. From that you conclude that Les Reed dictates the formation.

The irony of Mr T suggesting that something posted by another poster that contradicts his rumours and bull**** should not be believed.

I don't see any irony. I'm asking for evidence and proof like everyone does when it's a post they don't agree with. Nothing ironic about it at all, unless you are taking this post as gospel based on what a poster on a mongboard has said?
