Thedelldays Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 If it helps Jamie i personally know 3 people that have left SFC since NC arrived. So it's stuff i've heard first hand and no, im not going to mention their names. It's all just rumours though why dont they say....why not go to the echo, they would LOVE to tell the story...my guess, is that it is nothing to write about...other than the boss is a bit of a d1ck
JustMike Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 We could do if people were willing to share all the positive rumours and expereinces they have heard from ex players and past and current staff. "Nicola Cortese is a bit of a rotter. Read all about our stunning revelations about how he instructs staff not to speak to him unless he initiates contact, and how he refuses to defecate into communal toilets so had his own installed". Wes Tender Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 As a bloke I have only ever met him once. Based on that he is a top guy as it was at a charity golf event my company attended. However I know people who have met him and they have said he seemed a bit childish. He is no angel and he admitted he fixed games don't forget. Point being everyone has negative things about them, even you. Based on the way he has acted recently I don't think it was right nor wise of him to come out and keep bashing Cortese. Especially with cryptic messages on twitter about how we will all know one day. Well why not grow a pair and come out and say it now? What is stopping him? Has Cortese come out and actually said anything about MLT? As far as I can tell he has kept it behind closed doors. And in my opinion that is where that kind of stuff should stay. As a FAN do I care that MLT and Cortese don't get on? Not at all. Do I care that there is a dispute between Benali and Cortese abut some unpaid bill? Not at all. Do I care that Nick Illingsworth had his ticket removed and given a refund? Not at all, at least he got a refund which is more then we got when we went to a Illingsworth event...Do any of these things have an impact on the club and its progression? Not at all. As a FAN I just want my club to do well and to not charge me so much to see them play. We have gone from -10 in league one with a shell of a club to sitting in the pl after 2 back to back promotions. Based on that does that mean the way Cortese runs the club is working? Would other clubs love to trade positions with is? How many would trade their chairman for ours? I imagine Bournemouth fans would in a heartbeat! Who Cortese likes or dislikes is nothing to do with us. I imagine if we got a nice chairman who was nice to everyone and run the club that way we would still be in league one and people would be *****ing about something else. Is there really anything to complain about? A couple of results will see us move up the table. Then what? Your say Les Reed did a great job and so did Cortese? Somehow I doubt it.... The sane, sensible approach with a good perspective. As the Daily Mail is a national newspaper, one has to wonder whether their readers elsewhere who support other clubs really care a sh*t about any of this. As for their readers who are not at all interested in football, the whole article must be even less interesting. It's not as if it's some expose about British football clubs being run by the Russian mafia or that they believe that this club is being run by a criminal organisation. Looking at the wider perpective, it isn't about national figures or celebrities; its a load of rumours about the personal relationships between the chairman of a provincial football club person and a few others. Therefore one has to wonder why they are that bothered with little ole us and our internal spats, unless the sh*t stirring is because there are people with a grudge who have media contacts. *Yawn*

Wade Garrett Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Why can't they all be wrong? What is it that they would be right about? History shows that the majority of the population of a supposedly civilised country can be wrong. And if somebody upsets somebody else or makes an enemy of them, who is right and who is wrong among them? More pertinently you might have suggested that there is no smoke without fire, but it's far more difficult without concrete evidence and hearing the viewpoints of both sides to asssess the rights and wrongs of a situation such as this. The only comment from Cortese if I recall it correctly was along the lines that there were dark forces within the club with an agenda to destabilise it. Did he mean any of those you mention? This can't be emphasised enough for me. The dark forces can smell blood. IMO, the dark forces can f*ck off. We're in a position we couldn't have dreamt of a few years ago. How have these 'dark forces' helped us since then?
Dark Munster Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 I just find it a crying shame that it has come to this. Under NC we have achieved things that Rupert Lowe could only have dreamed of (though he was more likely to dream about sizeable share dividends anyway). Hes had a tough job achieving this, imo; my impression is that we were a lazily-run club with an air of familiarity, complacency and decay. NC has undoubtedly shaken this up and put noses out of joint. For me its no coincidence that MLT is one of his biggest critics; a player with ability and potential by the bucketful, but utterly bone-idle. Forgetting that we have (hopefully) temporarily lost our way this season, we are a much more professionally-run outfit nowadays that just needs an injection of a bit more quality in the squad and both on- and off-field management; I just hope we have the time still to correct this. All those drawing comparisons between Cortese and Joe Stalin need to remember that actually NA is still in charge of the team and has his chance to turn things around. I think "utterly bone-idle" is a bit extreme. I think "not quite the same work ethic as Franny, but infinitely more skill" would be more appropriate. Agreed with the rest of the post. (not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 I think it is a very balanced article and one of the better researched articles about Saints I have read in a long time. I also think the journalists conclusions are spot on, basically saying you can you have your cake and eat it. What amazes me though is how the folk of this forum dismiss it out of hand due to lack of evidence and accuse the journalists of misreporting. Do you really think a Daily Mail journalist is that bothered about Southampton Football Club that he will make up a load of lies and unsubstantiated rumours and then put them in the paper with little research or evidence put before him. Too many people still have their heads buried in the sand. Agree with this, although it did make me smile to read the obligatory 'he inherited a good set-up' line that the mail are legally obliged to credit Lowe with everytime they mention Saints...
