We need to back this man on Saturday. This man has led us to two successful promotions which in my eyes earns him legend status forever for Southampton. Lets get behind him and the team no matter what.

Cool, we haven't had an Adkins thread for a while!!

Has there been a game this season were the fans haven't backed Nigel?

Well against Spurs we were terrible at backing the team. I mean we need to back the team and Adkins. Taking inspiration from the away fans at West Brom.

All I'm saying is the team and manager need the cliche 12th man on Saturday and lets give it to them. Nigel Adkins will be a Saints legend no matter what.

Adkins has achieved a fantastic double promotion. He has now reached a new level and it takes time.

He has made it clear he wants to carry on and that he is the right man for the job.

IMO he needs to be given the chance unhindered by meddling and the pressure of not knowing when the axe will come.

Hopefully his meeting with Cortese earlier this week will have cleared the air. It is a results business and Premier survival is part of that but this man has achieved so much he is entitled to our and the boards complete support for a little longer yet.

I would love to back Adkins if I was confident he was actually picking the team.

May the wrath of jonno quick rain down upon you then.

Someone that supposedly has links at the club like yourself should be confident that he isnt interfering with squad selection.

That is of course unless you have an agenda ?

Cortese has made enough dopey decisions without having to make crap up.

As for Nige, he needs to convince me that he has the nous to admit he is wrong, drop his principles and make us tough to beat.

Or maybe he isn't confident he isn't interfering?

Mate, sorry Smirking Saint, my only main agenda is just that Saints do well. How that happens is the difficult bit. I am no longer confident our manager is "managing" or, to be more precise, is being allowed to manage. I am not saying any more. Everyone is free to make their own mind up.... I have made mine. Cheers

I will certainly be backing him on Sat as usual. Thankfully the majority of the crowd also do the same. It only appears that on this forum a number of vociferous anti Nigel posters resort to hysterics.

I think everyone bar none would be delighted if Nigel makes it with saints in the prem

I will back him. Am told that if he fails to win Saturday then he is out and we are looking to bring in Di Canio or some randomer from Florentina.

Were you told that by the same bloke that told you Cortese said we had too much money?

I heard differently, Adkins has until half time to wrap this game up otherwise Reed will be coming out 2nd half with his whip.

Difference is yours is made up and mine comes from an ex player.

Ex players definitely know the ins-and-outs of the club. Lloyd James and Ollie Lancashire keep me well informed on Adkins' future every week.

Yep can't remember the name he said though. Someone involved with florentina. Think he wants an Italian
If the current players are in the dark (I have that first hand) I am sure ex players will not know!

Do we agree that the man is a saints legend? I mean successive promotions. Not many have achieved that.

Ask the Cult of Cortese t**ts on here, happy to sneer at MLT as nothing more than a former employee who was paid at the time.

I look forward to seeing Nige get the same treatment the day he leaves.

Well he sits in corporate every week and knows a lot of people inside the club.

How very sweet and touching!

My advice to you and others like you is "Stop being sentimental" - this is a results driven business and Adkins isn't getting results, simple as that. Anybody nailing his or her colours to Adkins mast when they don't even know him as a person is foolish indeed. When did backing failure ever get anybody anywhere?

Sorry old chap but this is down to him as well intentioned as he may be, if he isn't good enough he MUST go!

Cortese will think we've lost our marbles if we are backing a lost cause. Silence is the best action tomorrow on thisparticular issue.

For sure, get behind the team as loudly as possible but that won't improve our tactics.

You seem to be a very bitter person especially as probably you have absolutely no (i.e., SFA) idea of the issues that lie behind the spat between Mr Cortese and MLT. It is always wiser to base judgement on facts than sentimentality and in any case MLT wasn't that good was he, at least not in the many dozens of matches I saw him play here.

Well he was better than any other player we've ever had.

And I'm the bitter one?
