There's alot you would be amazed about.

Problem is with some buffoons on here is that if you post something that someone doesn't agree with you are quickly branded an idiot. Then as usual all the other moronic sheep follow then before you know it you have people slagging you off even though they probably agree.

Quite sad really , very amusing though never the less.

That's why most people that actually do have useful information don't bother sharing it on here as it just turns into a playground.

Must say tho its the same little group every time . Maybe they were bullied as kids who knows.

This post should give you something to do for half an hour. Lol.

Agree with you albeit I do find you slightly annoying at times but you are harmless enough and in general post informative stuff. Until the mods ban the usual suspects then this forum will keep losing credibility. The love-in between 3 of the main culprits is really sad.

Back to thread I think shaw will start also and look forward to him and clyne getting down to the byline and whipping some teasing crosses in.

Our good friend Simon Peach has interviewed Adkins. Shaw is mentioned at the end.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/everyone-must-save-southampton-from-relegation-dogfight-says-nigel-adkins-8300934.html

I've seen him around 6 or 7 times. For the youth teams he has looked a class apart, just like Bale, Walcott and Lallana did when I watched them develop. In the game at Stevenage he wasn't all that, but showed flashes of his ability. At Millwall he was in midfield and didn't have much impact.

Considering his age he looks to have all the attributes to go on and be a top player. Obviously he will still have weaknesses and these will be exploited in the Premier League but if he learns from mistakes and stays composed then he should do just fine.

Lets face it, not often does a youngster come into a top flight team, hit the ground running and make it look like he's been playing for years. But there's no way of knowing if he is good enough without giving him a chance and without a lot of options at left back it really doesn't seem much of a gamble to throw him in.

Im confident in the very near future there will be a few people eating there words as given the chance this lad will mould into being one of our most prize assets.

The threads in 6 months will be about how we should keep him and not sell him to a bigger club and not saying he's a kid and not good enough.

This lad is quality and the sooner he's starting every week the better and that will help in getting us some points on the board we desperately need.

Not sure what's so funny mick but in a few weeks you will be following the rest of the sheep and raving about the lad.

Hope you're right. The problem is you've come on here saying the kid is the real deal without being able to justify it. For every bale and bridge there's an Allan tankard, ray Wallace, Kyle critchell - hype is dangerous.

The lad is quality. The players you mention we're 20 years plus ago. You need to get with the times. It's very rare a poor youngster manages to get this far these days.

Like I said before . This is my opinion and from what I've seen and been told this lad is plenty good enough.

He already has big clubs sniffing around him but I'm sure they are just holding off to see how it cuts the prem.

Then we will have another bale, Walcott , chambo, situation on our hands I'm sure

I would rather see jos next to him than Yoshida but that's just my choice. Although I think he's more than capable he will need all the support and guidance he can get in his first start and I think jos would be a better option than Yoshida . Jos has had a bad start yes. But he's still a good player and in my opinion he's better than Yoshida.

I hope you're right but over the years I've watched so many players crash and burn when it matters. Whilst I hope your confidence is well placed o wander where it comes from...

If he crashes and burns ill sh1t in his pack lunch and steal his pocket money as I've bigger him up now.

Joking aside we have a good management team at the club and all are far more experienced than us and know him and his capability s better. And if he wasn't good enough he wouldn't be anywhere near the bench.

Still not sure where your confidence stems from other than blind hope. I really hope you're confidence is well placed and we can unearth another gem.

Another thing people need to remember is 20 plus years ago when we had kids come and fail so quickly it was because they would come into the game at say 15.16 and debut at 17:18

These days they have been with the club or a club from a very young age and have far more experience in the game even at such a young age

That's way off. Most youth players that have come through over the years have been attached to the club for years.

In the match thread you will see I have included him to start. Wether he will be any better, I'm not sure, but I would like to see what he can do. The only time I've seem him play is the Anderlecht game. He looked sound enough, but to claim he will be good enough for the premiership yet is a bit naive. But as I say, I'd like to see him given a chance and now seems as good a time as any.

Now yes. Even from as young as 6 in some cases.

Back then then it wasn't like it is now. Young yes but it was more common for a player to be spotted while at senior school age not infants lol

Wrong. 25 years ago Saints would hold trials for kids at junior school, a couple of years before they went to seniors.

What are his strengths here ?

Not disputing what you say, but I keep reading about him being an outstading prospect but no one has highlighted his strengths etc. With Bale it was his crossing, athletiscism that stood out, what is Shaw's great attributes that make him such a prospect.

The 'gambles' are his inexperience , and how he handles it,and it does not destroy his confidence.

His touch, technique, passing and movement with the ball are all excellent. Attributes which are now vital for the way full backs play in the modern game. He's not afraid at all to burst forward and take players on. He whips in a very good cross too.

What we need to find out is if he can deal with top players defensively. You'd imagine he'll be targetted due to his age and inexperience and the opposition will attempt to put pressure on him to see how he handles it. Hopefully he will, but as I said earlier we'll never know until we give him a chance to prove himself.

Who was the last saints youngster heavily tipped for the top in terms of big club and scouting interest that hadn't gone on? Genuine question as the likes of theo, Ox, bale were well tipped like shaw and don't remember many article linking Lloyd James and jake thompson etc to anyone big.

What people have to ask themselves is will he do any worse than Danny Fox and the answer has to be probably not. A good number of the goals we have conceded so far this season Fox has been partly responsible for.

Fox is a poor player who is far from good enough and if Adkins thinks Shaw is ready then I would definitely throw him in. I did watch Shaw at Stevenage and I was not that impressed but that was a one off game and he dud have Seaborne and a weaker team alongside him.

Played well should never of come off, probably played better than Fox has done all season. I think Merson on sky was right to question that sub Adkins made.

Agree he played better, but he was knackered, he isn't match fit yet and his legs couldn't keep going. But he did show he is well worth sticking with at LB, better defensively than Fox.

Out of interest was the original post so Moronic as suggested. All the *****y little comments were pointless.

I bet a few of you were desperately waiting for him to make mistake so you could come on here and carry on your bull****e.

Pathetic.

Did you even read my opening post ?

You are quite a special one you

Thinking that fellow Saints fans would want a 17 year old kid to fail just to score points is quite frankly pathetic. Night x

Yes I agree. The post was special yesterday but now people have changed there tune!

It's comedy .

Good performance today and of we can put in more performances like this we will turn things around for sure.

For the record I pointed out yesterday I thought jos should play over Yoshida as he wasn't good enough.

Today I thought he had a good game and proved me wrong and I'm glad.

Well done boys onwards and upwards

So based on his performances in the cup he's not good enough

And he shouldn't be starting premier league games.

Your words Shirleysfc

Shows how little you know doesn't it.

Comedy

Good night

Yep, true dat!! I wasn't sure he was ready based on what I'd seen, don't see what the problem is with that?

By the way, aren't you the guy that told the forum Oxlade Chamberlain had signed for Chelsea? How's that going for him? x

ROFL thread.

It seemed pretty clear that Shaw had a good pre-season. It seems that Management thought he could step up and be our first choice LB.

Then he got injured and we had Fox.

Let's hope Shaw goes from strength to strength and brings more pace & stability to the left side and helps the rest of the defence cut down to only one suicidal mistake a game

Funniest thing is, not one person has said they don't rate Shaw or that Fox is a great defender. Just most have questioned the OP about how he can state that he would be better as a premiership defender without anyone seeing him play against a prem team.

Then all those questioning are either boyfriends, Fox lovers, playground bullies or sheep. Now were all pathetic because apparently we all wanted the lad to fail today.
