What I'll be doing on Saturday afternoon.

Legod Third Coming

Recommended Posts

I will be giving a Powerpoint on what Corporate Sponsors are expecting as their Return on Investment and how to ensure that the global media are shown due deference and a warm welcome to Dubai during the upcoming golf to over 200 volunteer workers.

::yawn:

I will also be hating Eric for being stuck on the beach surrounded by Bikini clad babes, watching the game and I will be fighting the bar staff to get the one TV in the venue switched to our game at half time.

Well and truly an expats life.

It will be good to see the support on Saturday, i'm sure there will be a chant of 'One Nigel Adkins' at some point, I and a fair few around us in the family end will be joining in that's for sure.

Regardless of result (win prefered, obviously) it's just good getting to the matches and experiencing a packed stadium alongside friends and family.

I'll be in the Northam, enjoying watching football. Enjoying watching the Saints and doing my best to be the 12th man.

It would be good to hear some rousing stuff from the Chapel end - looking forward to it.

One final thought, which I keep in my mind as the poor results have rolled in this season. If you think we are bad this season just cast your minds back to the season we were relegated from the Championship; boy were we really rubbish that season !

Dear mods, is there anything we can do to prevent attention seeking posters who don't actually support Saints from posting about Saints related matters that he doesn't understand?

I'm not even sure if he could pick out our players in a line up.

Maybe there is a hedge trimming forum he can go on instead that you can recommend as this is more inline with what said poster will be doing on a Saturday afternoon.

Lol!

My sons arguing as both want to go and are discussing songs to show their support for Nigel.

Like every pundit, presenter, ex-pro, fan of another club in phone in;s, even Cortese etc -they think he has done good job and should stay!!

I'll be in the back of the Chapel stand giving Nigel Adkins 100% of my support.

I don't care if we finish this season in 17th on goal difference under Nigel. After eighteen months of, at times, sensational football, and the most inspiring period in my life as a fan of this club, Nigel Adkins deserves OUR support until such times as he or the Chairman decides the game is up.

Life is not a one-way street in which you can take. There are time when you also have to give.

As someone who has experienced failure and success in pretty much equal measure, I can imagine what Nigel is going through right now. He's questioning his own ability. He's wondering if all those qualities that guided our success are those that will work now. And the thing is they should. Because if there is any justice, a good, gracious man who delivers nothing but positivity should be rewarded.

And just maybe what he needs right now is to look around a football stadium and see a recognition of his contribution to putting this football club back on the map, in the vocal support of 28,000 grateful friends.

Come on Nigel - turn it around and prove the doubters wrong. And shove the speculation back down the throats of the hacks who circle like vultures while adding nothing of value to our club.

Good luck mate. Fecking good luck!

As I suspected this post has brought the numbskulls out of the woodwork. Dont you realise that sensible well-argued posts just aren't the thing on here? Still FWIW100% support from me.

I too will be supporting the Saints from the Chapel on Saturday as per usual. But it seems to me that some on this forum have confused supporting the manager, with supporting the club, almost as if this one man has become the personification of Southampton Football Club in their fevered imaginations. I'm no teenager my friends, and five decades spent clinging to the surface of this crazy planet has taught me that hero worshiping any mere Human Being is a exercise in futility that is almost bound to lead to disappointment.

Nevertheless, I do (of course) genuinely hope we beat Swansea on Saturday and that this manager then goes on to successfully secure our PL status. But let's be absolutely clear on this - I support the club not any one individual. This old football club existed long before Nigel Adkins came here, and it will continue long after he's gone. So to my way of thinking no one man be they Owner, Chairman, Manager or player is bigger than the club, and if Nigel Adkins can't get this team to perform properly then rest assured another manager will be along shortly to take on the challenge.

After all, managers are like buses ..... there be another one along in a minute.

Nicely put:thumbup:

I personally have no desire to see Nigel sacked but I really don't understand this attitude that because some supporters think Nigel needs to go they are in some way lesser fans that need to be lectured on how to support the team or club. To me having an opinion on the manager is no different to having an opinion on a player and I'm willing to bet all those preaching loyalty to Nigel have slagged off at least one saints player in their time.......

Genuine question has anyone actually seen a lack of support for the team at SMS this season (other than the odd bloke swearing at Guly)? Having given up my ST I've only been to two games this season and I haven't seen any evidence of a lack of support at SMS the rest of the games I've listened to on Solent and I've heard the saints fans supporting the team loud and clear in every game.

100% agree,

At the end of the day what can we do about what's going on?

We are where we are and we are doing what we are doing. It does not matter if you got it in for the chairman, the manager, the tea lady we can't change any of those things.

All we can do is get behind the team and support them.

Whinging and moaning on an internet over every little thing is pointless. A few wins and all those threads will look really stupid.

Come on you Saints!

FFS NOOOOOOOOO

You MUST be a skate plant.

Any TRUE Saint would know that he was simply just one of the Midwich Cuckoos who live in the Village of the Damned

Yes I wonder if there were any short blonde saints players putting it about alot around 20 years ago ....might explain the odd similarity between all our up coming youth players......

Dear mods, is there anything we can do to prevent these attention-seeking lectures about how to support Saints ?

This particular OP is known for it. Often pipes with these "look at me" posts like the one here. It's more about getting an ego trip by seeing how many people can say "great post" back to him, than him actually believing any of it, or even putting into practice himself what he's prophesising

The rest of your post is fine but I don't get this line - you say it as if finishing 17th is the worst we could possibly do. We could easily finish bottom on 20 points or less.

Your plan to bravely stick with Nige seems predesposed on staying up, so not that brave. Loads on here, including me, would have accepted 17th in August.

It's the "Champions League here we come" idiot brigade who were getting carried away.
