John Boy Saint Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Would have liked to see Queen probably around the time of Band Aid. Always thought myself lucky to see Genesis quite a few times and marvel at the stage shows........ But then they ain't up everyones Strasse. RonManager Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Seen pretty much every band/artist that I've wanted to, but wish to Feck that I'd seen more of PJ Harvey in her earlier days. Oh, The Undertones. It was a case of 'Oh I'll catch them next time' etc etc..
RonManager Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Also, strange how it can be hard to see a 'megastar', yet, when re-titled, p*ss easy. David Bowie for instance. Never did see him as 'himself', but, as Tin Machine, they were letting people in on the door in Livingston when he toured in the early 90's. latter day saint Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Not exactly a gig - Castle Morton 1992. The biggest free party the UK has ever seen, which convinced the government of the time to introduce the Criminal Justice Bill. i was there! very messy 4/5 days but fun

Oh, The Undertones. It was a case of 'Oh I'll catch them next time' etc etc.. PJ Harvey a good call never seen her live, saw The Undertones at the Uni the highlight being a massive brawl between Southampton Punks v. Soton University Rugby Club. The rugger buggers had the initial upper hand by attacking the youngest and smallest punks including girls but soon came up against the older lads and got a nasty shock. Some of our lot took the Tones shopping the next day visiting the legendary Dr Martens shop near the old bus station. Apparently you couldnt get decent DMs in Ulster. Reminds me of a band I kind of saw, if you will. The Buzzcocks at the Lyceum in Skatesmouth. Half way through the first song all hell let loose, the lights came on and the whole front of the hall was engaged in a bar-room brawl, seats ripped up etc etc! Can't remember what it was about, but that was that for the night. Saw Pete Shelley at the Elephant Fayre a few years later but no more Buzzcocks. teamsaint Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 They still do odd gigs, minus Feargal. they pretty much hammer through the first two albums at breakneck speed....not quite like they were in their prime, but still well worth catching. sandwichsaint Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Seen most of the punk/70s bands on here, Jam, Clash, Undertones, Joy Division, Buzzccoks, SLF, Ramones, Blondie!, Costello, Penetration, Damned, Angelic Upstarts, Sham 69, Feelgood, Eddie and the Hotrods, Boomtown Rats, Magazine, Wire, Devo, Stiff tour, Ian Dury, Wilko Johnson, Smiths etc. 'Biggest' regret was not seeing the Pistols, though they never came to us - best was I've seen all those bands playing in Canterbury, either at the Uni or the town theatre (the Marlowe). Unthinkable now that some of the biggest chart/alt acts of that time played provincial tours. Regrets, I've had a few but then again I never went more than 10 miles from my house to see these bands .... would love to have seen Primal Scream and the Stone Roses. Saint137 Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Half-Man Half-Biscuit at the Mayfair The first Pogues gig at the Mayflower after it re-opened from being the Gaumont. Pogues gig was epic, I think I still have bruises. Feel a little bit guilty the place got trashed but what were they thinking...
Saint137 Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Hendrix supported by Pink Floyd at Pompey Guildhall November 1968 Would have loved to have seen Nick Drake as well And wish I'd told my Mum to stick it when she said I couldn't go and see Queen at Knebworth in 86. But you can only wish for stuff from your era and I look at the lists posted here and am thankful to have seen Stone Roses, Primal Scream, Nirvana, and Oasis in small venues (Joiners, Wedgie, Pompey Poly, and South Parade Pier for those) Biggest live event regret isn't even a gig, it's a trade show where Neil Armstrong spoke about the moon landing (extremely rare public appearance). Had chance to go but turned it down. Still completely gutted by that.
carljack Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Bob Marley uprising tour July 1980 Brighton,I was there but speed and Lager cloud the memory, had tickets for joy division in London and never made it (waylaid by dirty brunette in toilet at Waterloo Station). SuperMikey Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Obviously too young but Hendrix at IOW in 1970. Love his live recordings. Also wish i'd seen the likes of Dylan, Bowie, Led Zep, Beastie Boys, Oasis, Nirvana etc at their peaks.
teamsaint Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 I was at that one, sure was crazy. SLF on the Nobody's Heroes tour was the most dangerous thing I have been to , bands wise. Bonkers.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 10 November, 2012 Share Posted 10 November, 2012 I wish I'd have seen The Joe Cocker Mad dogs and Englishmen tour, Jerry Lee Lewis around 1965, been in san quentin when the man in black turned up, been walking around London when The Beatles did their rooftop concert, and seen Delaney & Bonnie & Friends that included George Harrison & Eric Clapton. But found out yesterday they are playing here in Dubai on 21st Feb next year. Stadium only holds 12,000 as well Well spotted Eric, got my tickets this morning Yay Hay! sandwichsaint Posted 15 November, 2012 Share Posted 15 November, 2012 Also forgot to add the Ramones at Canterbury! My party piece nowadays is to go up to anybody wearing a Ramones tee shirt and say 'Have you seen them?' For the yoof it is enuf to say who were these Ramones? For older punters I haven't yet found anyone answering 'yes' in the past 18 months of fandom - I completely ruined a bloke in front of his mates in the pub before West Ham away last year, luckily he saw the funny side and we had a good music chat thereafter. I think that's my claim to fame ' I saw the Ramones live' (probably their only UK tour, but I stand to be corrected).

Does this count? Or does that make him a corporate sell out along with The Wombats, Super Furry Animals, Dan Black, The Stereophonics, Snow Patrol, Kasabian, Korn, Muse, Velvet Revolver, Deep Purple, Sting, UB40, Tom Jones The Automatic, The Farm, The Human League and and and and and and and
