Orange Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 For me, either a 1994 early oasis gig, one at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago i've watched hundreds of times on youtube. Or Maine Road '96.
alpine_saint Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 That Beastie Boys gig in Liverpool, 1987.
swannymere Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Maine Road was amazing, better than Knebworth or Wembley Stadium. Managed to get in the pen right at the front. Not the best gig i've been to but the best i've seen Oasis do, Liam was at his petulant best.
KK the 2nd Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Oasis and Queen. Seen most of the other big names/groups I wanted to see (Stones, Faces, Bowie, The Who etc) but really regret having missed out on these two.
shurlock Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 (edited) Last proper Pavement gig at the Brixton Academy in 1999. Failing that Altamont would have been interesting. Edited 8 November, 2012 by shurlock
Window Cleaner Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 (edited) some gig that would have avoided me being dragged to see the Bay City Rollers at the Gaumont, anyone anywhere that would have saved me from that ignominy, think I had to go in disguise in case I saw anyone I knew, ah the crazy things you're prepared to do for women. Edited 8 November, 2012 by Window Cleaner
The Cat Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Radiohead at Glastonbury in 1997. The worst thing about this is I was at Galstonbury in 1997. Just not watching Radiohead (I blame the LSD)
Hatch Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 probably something a bit mental like the Sex Pistols.
shirleysfc Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Wish I'd seen Bowie, Joy Division or the Smiths
bpsaint Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Queen at Wembley Stadium, closely followed by Guns N Roses at the same place.
Colinjb Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 October 21st 2005, Nightwish at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki. The final concert of the 'Once upon a Tour' tour and the final time they performed with their original vocalist.
Lets B Avenue Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 some gig that would have avoided me being dragged to see the Bay City Rollers at the Gaumont, anyone anywhere that would have saved me from that ignominy, think I had to go in disguise in case I saw anyone I knew, ah the crazy things you're prepared to do for women. This sounds eerily familiar. I wore a large hat, upturned collar and read a paper, sat in the stalls, whilst girlfriend and mates kicked lumps out of the security.
Window Cleaner Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 This sounds eerily familiar. I wore a large hat, upturned collar and read a paper, sat in the stalls, whilst girlfriend and mates kicked lumps out of the security. In fact I was pretty chuffed when one of them ran over a granny in his Mustang, meant I would never have to see them again...anywhere. I mean when you've seen The Stones in Hyde Park, done Cream's Last concert, know a couple of lads from Tull, been there done that at the Isle of Wight and Bath...well the Bay City Rollers is just shameful, jeez I must have been smitten, mind you the blow jobs...out of this world.

This sounds eerily familiar. I wore a large hat, upturned collar and read a paper, sat in the stalls, whilst girlfriend and mates kicked lumps out of the security. At the time I had the same feelings about having to see David Essex @ pompey guildhall. Fell out with the gf at the time and ended up with 2 tickets..... so talked a mate into not wasting the money Turned out we were the only two single lads in the place surrounded by about 2,000 screaming frottaging on arm rests of seats teenagers. Oh what a night and morning and afternoon and and and My big miss was Faithless here in Dubai. Mate had arranged freebies I meh'd. Turned out mate knew the tour manager, they watched from the side of the stage and well to cut a long story short stayed partying with the band in the hotel then got taken to KL & Bangkok on "tour" for 6 days. They even got the lads on stage in KL as backing singers. (I got my own back eventually but that's a different thread) They have NEVER let me forget it
Jonnyboy Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Any Nirvana gig (I had tickets for Brixton when he killed himself, grrrrrr, selfish cvnt)
manji Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Any gig involving The Clash. Seem em 12 times so not worried about that. Stereolab played Wedgewood Rooms a couple of years ago and I couldnt go. Still ****es me off.
Berkhamsted Saint Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Regret not seeing the Sex Pistols back in the 70's and X Ray Spex.
Turkish Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Anyone involving the Jam and the Smiths. The Stone Roses at Spike Island.
lil 1 Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 bowie at Glastonbury in 2000. The worst thing about this is i was at Glastonbury in 2000.dont know what happened (i blame the LSD)
Deano6 Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 For me it'd have to be the Family Mahone at The Witchwood, Aston-under-Lyne in 1999. Legendary!
swannymere Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 bowie at Glastonbury in 2000. The worst thing about this is i was at Glastonbury in 2000.dont know what happened (i blame the LSD) He was brilliant, just as the sun was going down. He had some really hot female musician on stage but i can't for the life of me remember what she played - I blame the cider!
Frank's cousin Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Any Nirvana gig (I had tickets for Brixton when he killed himself, grrrrrr, selfish cvnt) Ha saw em at Reading ;-) just wish the Pixes stage had not collapsed in Glasgow.... would have been a good un judging by the first number... Would have like to see Dylan back in 65 when he first went electric... had to wait until 87 when he was with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers which was pretty cool Lucky to be able to say, I have not really missed anything.... ;-)

cambsaint Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 The IoW 1970 to see Hendrix-all my mates went but I was in Oslo. Cream's Farewell Concert-I saw them at Man Uni but missed this one. The Stax tour in 67-68, to see Otis Redding and the rest. The Rolling Stones when they played Winchester Lido Ballroom in 1964.
latter day saint Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 i was also at Glasto in 92 & 93 and have no recolection of who played due to not going near the main stage as far as i know & the LSD,Mushrooms,E's & any other sh*te i could neck still gutted about missing Universe- Mind,Body & Soul and the legendary sets by the Producer & Tanith.
Turkish Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 I am disgusted at all these people boasting about over indulgence in illegal drugs.
latter day saint Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 I am disgusted at all these people boasting about over indulgence in illegal drugs. methinks sir does protest too much
teamsaint Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Buddy Holly at the Gaumont. Not being born didn't help. Devo also at the Gaumont, and The Ramones at Hammersmith 1980, missed chances.....
Spudders Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 still gutted about missing Universe- Mind,Body & Soul and the legendary sets by the Producer & Tanith. I was there for that, absolutely rocking! Still enjoy listening to the set, can't believe that was 20 years ago now!!!
BadgerBadger Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 Led Zeppelin - Madison Square Gardens 1973

Still enjoy listening to the set, can't believe that was 20 years ago now!!! i was skint so missed it. still got the tapes somewhere & have those sets on my fav playlist.still get a buzz from listening to them !
scotty Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 For some reason I feel most gutted about missing the Tubes in London in July this very year. Ive seen them five times, including New York on my 50th birthday last august, but this july in leicester square is likely to have been their last UK show. I hope not, but given their ages and the fact that one of the guitarists is already dead, it seems likely. We had already booked a family holiday when the UK date was announced, just couldnt alter it or even realistically fly back for the day. Still gutted now, tbh.
Golden Balls Posted 8 November, 2012 Posted 8 November, 2012 (edited) I wasn't alive but have the Hendrix at IOW festival on DVD. Would love to have been there. Had tickets to one of Michael Jacksons first O2 gigs. Still devastated he died before that. Loved his music growing up. Edited 9 November, 2012 by Golden Balls
alpine_saint Posted 9 November, 2012 Posted 9 November, 2012 Half-Man Half-Biscuit at the Mayfair The first Pogues gig at the Mayflower after it re-opened from being the Gaumont.
dubai_phil Posted 9 November, 2012 Posted 9 November, 2012 I wasn't alive but have the Hendrix at IOW festival on DVD. Would love to have been there. Had tickets to one of Michael Jacksons first O2 gigs. Still deviated he died before that. Loved his music growing up. Had tickets for Michael Jackson here in Dubai in around 94/95. While he was on the SE Asian leg the first accusations of child abuse stories broke and the tour was cancelled. I was very upset but luckily I never became a deviant :-)
Window Cleaner Posted 9 November, 2012 Posted 9 November, 2012 Like one of the great advantages of beng older...top bands still played Unis and you got to see them all for virtually nowt. With a bit of hitch hiking about a week-ends, staying with your school friends at their Unis you got to see them all . Big blow outs like Bath and the Isle of Wight helped. 40/50 top bands in the space of 3 days for very little money.
thefunkygibbons Posted 9 November, 2012 Posted 9 November, 2012 Queen And I am just at the age when it would have been possible
RedAndWhite91 Posted 9 November, 2012 Posted 9 November, 2012 Oasis at the Joiners just so I could say I was there. Or Knebworth. Or Maine Road. Or anywhere. Spike Island. That Sex Pistols gig in Manchester in 1976. Joy Division. Would have loved to have seen the Clash. Closest I'll get is seeing Mick Jones play a few Clash songs in the Hillsborough Justice Band at Heaton Park before the Stone Roses gig. Seems about 90% of music I like was at its best before I was born or when I was too young to appreciate it.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 9 November, 2012 Posted 9 November, 2012 That Beastie Boys gig in Liverpool, 1987. This, Pulse - Pink Floyd 1994 Earls Court or Led Zeppelin - Madison Square Gardens 1973
Saint Luke Posted 9 November, 2012 Posted 9 November, 2012 some gig that would have avoided me being dragged to see the Bay City Rollers at the Gaumont, anyone anywhere that would have saved me from that ignominy, think I had to go in disguise in case I saw anyone I knew, ah the crazy things you're prepared to do for women. My sister probably went to that!!
Window Cleaner Posted 9 November, 2012 Posted 9 November, 2012 My sister probably went to that!! Well I behaved like a perfect gentleman guv..
Sheaf Saint Posted 9 November, 2012 Posted 9 November, 2012 Not exactly a gig - Castle Morton 1992. The biggest free party the UK has ever seen, which convinced the government of the time to introduce the Criminal Justice Bill.
