Tokyo-Saint Posted 8 November, 2012 Share Posted 8 November, 2012 I would guess Ward-Prowse is set to make a return to the first team, perhaps even Stephens. NA doesn't want to make it obvious who will be in the team so has withdrawn all of them.
Jonnyboy Posted 8 November, 2012 Share Posted 8 November, 2012 They have to practice our new defensive style.

Maybe this is why - they are worried about injuries, or effective training and need the bodies at the training ground.

Maybe full internationals and under 21s can't be withdrawn without faking an injury Man Utd style but the rest don't really count so can? MLG are you able to confirm? alpine_saint Posted 8 November, 2012 Share Posted 8 November, 2012 Bit hard on the youngsters. I am assuming playing for England is still an honour at that age. Seems the clubs start devaluing the mystque of playing for your country at an ever younger age. As if any of the 3 are going to play a major part in the next couple of games. We're probably concentrating on winning the PL U21 league or something. Is there a trophy for that? They have a game on Monday don't they?

They link up with their squads after the weekend games.

Normally I would agree but confidence is so low with Jos, Fonte and Fox that it makles sense to put the youngsters in. They will be up for it for sure. Window Cleaner Posted 8 November, 2012 Share Posted 8 November, 2012 they are all playing saturday......from what I have heard Although I suspect that with the first team playing on Saturday along with the U18s and the U21s on Monday we just wouldn't have enough players to go round if we lose 3 U21s for an England friendly on Tuesday. the stain Posted 8 November, 2012 Share Posted 8 November, 2012 I bet if it were the Italian or Swiss under 19 squad they wouldn't have been withdrawn. Only one person responsible for this, IMO.
Saint Garrett Posted 8 November, 2012 Share Posted 8 November, 2012 Maybe they're contractually obliged to withdraw.

If they were that good theyd be playing already. What I am saying is its a gamble. I love Adkins, but Im not about to stick my head in the sand over blind faith, if he does this ? I love Adkins, but Im not about to stick my head in the sand over blind faith, if he does this ? Mental yes it would be a gamble, but fans are able to make decisions in their minds and on message boards with impunity and with nothing other than banter resting on it. They are also always able to comment after the event with the benefit of hindsight saying we should have done this, or that. Things are not black and white: saying if adkins does this - we will win. If he does that - we will loose, is just plain wrong. At the end of the day, this is Adkins livelihood, he has a greater knowledge and experience to draw on than anyone on here and has been sucessful more often than not. Above all, he knows things about the happenings behind the scenes that we do not. Nice though it is to have an opinion and speculate, we just cannot know exactly what is going on. Sometimes, just sometimes **** happens - particularly in football. I for one have faith that Adkins is the best man for the job, will make informed decisions and will make the best fist of the situation we're in this year. If he thinks we should play the youngsters (and he lives or dies by his decisions), there is a reason for it.

Bailey Posted 9 November, 2012 Share Posted 9 November, 2012 Adkins wants the players to come away with the first-team for this mini-training camp that they're on ahead of the Swansea game. Nothing more to it than that.

We have plenty of cover, it's the norm to see 15 year olds in the 18's section which shows our strength.
