I know, there's another thread on the saga, and I also know it's not strictly related to Saints, but it is news and a few of you might be interested....

Breaking news on the BBC CL page.

A point or more for Hartlepool tonight would mean for all intents and purposes Pompey are bottom of League One after 16 game with their impending points deduction as soon as they leave administration.

Points deduction?

Points deduction?

The lenient (compared to Bournemouth and Rotherham's -17 points) -10 points the Football League announced they will get as soon as they leave administration by diluting the failed 2010 CVA with a new CVA.

Atkins to Portsmouth im told
Geez by now you would have thought you would have learnt how to spell his name. Maybe you need a break from this forum for some fresh air and a fresh perspective. No offence.

Hes just said on Sky one of the main reasons he left is because he doesnt believe the P"""mouth Supporters Trust can save the club. Hilarious.

Terrible decision by Blackpool. Despite their issues, he's done nothing to suggest he has any managerial talent whatsoever.

Quite funny sat here though.

This was my thoughts entirely. He has done absolutely nothing to suggest he is a good manager.

Think he ment to say Atkinson as in Rowan as they are a comedy club.

What does the appointment say about Blackpool's ambition (or more relevent, their finances) by taking on Appleton? I would expect they would be looking at challenging for play offs yet Appleton, with probably one of the highest paid sqauds in their relevant leagues has been relegated once and lies ony a few points relegation in his second season.

Not exactly promotion material.

Blackpool fans think he is on a rolling contract LOL that's a real vote of confidence in appy's abilities

Same as Hollowhead, but I suspect a lot cheaper.

Anyway, if I spot him at work tomorrow, what do I say to him ?

Please Jim, why are you being so nasty to me?

Just seeking clarity :), after all Ian Atkins would actually suit the current skate standard and club size looking at his previous clubs -

1990–1991 Colchester United[3]

1992–1993 Cambridge United[3]

1993–1994 Doncaster Rovers

1994–1999 Northampton Town

2000 Chester City

2000–2001 Carlisle United

2001–2004 Oxford United

2004–2005 Bristol Rovers

2006 Torquay United

Taking off my saints hat for a moment, I've never got the crack with Appleton. He's got alot of respect and a decent reputation, for pretty much failing at Portsmouth.

You can throw all the sob stories you want at it, but he's had more backing available to him than he should have had, and with a squad full of the players they have in L1 should mean they're higher in the league than they are.

Pretty sure his reputation is just born out of pitty rather than any real talent. Not sure what direction Blackpool are heading in, going backwards faster than anything.

TBH he was in a win win situation, fail and it was poor old pompey and their horrible situation (forget the fact they still chuck obscene money at players etc)

Or he makes a good crack at things and everyone loves him for making such a good attempt at the miserable situation.

Easy money

I have to say I think it is a good move for him, he has been managing in a loony bin walks in, which some might think naive of him, and the club faceplant big time and he is haemoraging players through no fault of his own. This season he has been in charge of a bunch of Out of contract football wanderers given his lack of player options I am surprised they haven't been rock bottom of the table all season.

Listening to him on Solent, obviously more so last season, in his post match interviews despite managing our arch rivals he always came across well, never seemed play on the sorry state of what was going on in the background.

Good luck to the bloke be a bit different for Blackpool having worked under the fruitcake that is Ollie, now they go to the other end of the scale in being managed by Voldemort!!

So to summarise, skates have:

- no owner

- no money

- no manager

- no buyer

- no players (mostly short term loans)

But the bestest fans in the world ever ever, promise

Pretty much how I feel. Hopefully he will prove to be a very good manager at Blackpool as that will mean the skates are now weaker for him going. We will see. He ill need to get Blackpool into the play offs otherwise he would have failed IMO given how well they did last season. I wonder if he will be able to keep Mat Philips and Ince in the window?

As I said at the time, the move to be manager of the Skates was an astute move by Appy for the reason you stated, plus before he went there he was a non-entity. He got himself into the spotlight well with all the media attention focused on the Skates, which has put him in the frame for far more prestige positions, for which he would never have been considered otherwise.

You Skate B*ast*rd! That will do nicely....................................

Appleton deserves a knighthood for putting up with the situation so long. Bet few can name someone else who's gone thru all he's had in the past 12 months and put together a team to compete and sometimes win in League One.

You what ?

Considering the appalling state they have been in ever since he got the job, he's worked bloody miracles with them Id say - including taking 4 points off us I might add.

Now that he has shown the good sense the abandon that shambles of a club, I'll even wish him the best of British luck with his new Chairman - he might need it.

6 Points on offer - we got 2
so we took 4 off them as well. talk about playing with figures to suit lol

He did ok ,but he had some top players in the CCC to get tresults. he has had a better squad than most in L1 and has scrapped a few wins

I did laugh when PFC denied it and the Blackpool Gazette apparently took a piccie of Appleton in a Blackpool hotel on Sunday night according to a Pompey friend of mine. He apparently took flight when it was reported that the blue few best supporters in the world are not coughing up their £900 pledges in advance of the share prospectus. Sorry there is a small thread on this elsewhere!

Appy was interviewed on Sunday, nothing 'apparently' about it.
