Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 After rumours that he is on circa £60k a week, and people criticising players like Lambert for being disinterested, has Ramirez's 'bumper' pay packet had an affect on the side? Personally I think Gaston is quality, and once fully fit will really show what a top quality player and prospect (we have to remember he is still only 21) we have, but has he been worth potentially disrupting the harmony in the squad. Thoughts?
Thedelldays Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 I dont but into that....a club would never ever move on...im sure over the last few years...say cork for example came in on more money than hammond....no problem there...
Turkish Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 I dont. If you want to bring in good players they cost more. Ramirez is one of the top young players in Europe and a full international for a top footballing nation. If Rickie Lambert is upset Ramirez is on more then ask him to bring his international caps along to his pay review.
doggface Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 It's more like half that from what I have heard. Seems like reliable info. So no.
shurlock Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 Maybe, maybe not, maybe its had the opposite effect - maybe its actually driven the others to work harder as they all want to prove they deserve £60K. Mongboard-in-let-sleeping-dogs-lie shocker.
Chez Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 if he was **** then the players might ask WTF? But he quite clearly is decent. Where do you get that £60k a week figure from? I seem to recall the initial Italian story said £38k a week, but maybe gross and net comes into play?
Saint Garrett Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 38k after tax supposedly, although who knows what tax rates footballers use.
Ed Rooney Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 Met Gaston yesterday, seemed a pleasant guy. Can't be easy for the lad, 21 all on his own and seemingly living out of hotels.
Hatch Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 Met Gaston yesterday, seemed a pleasant guy. Can't be easy for the lad, 21 all on his own and seemingly living out of hotels. Can't Jay Rod go and ask him out to play, what with him sort of being Spanish .
doddisalegend Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 A lot of new faces in the team quite a few without English as their first language I could see that having knocking effect on the team. For some of the old hands seeing a few of your old team mates getting moved on while others are reduced to hanging out on the edges of the squad could result in changes to the close knit squad the team seemed to be before.
SaintRobbie Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 I doubt his pay package has had an effect. But I would suggest he hasnt - so far - been worth the money and even if we relegate there is no way we'll see half of what we paid for him back. Some of our players need to start firing on all cylinders - and he's one of them.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 he is not on 60k. around about 40k which is standard rate for a quality player at mid/lower table teams. i recall adkins describing him as a "world class"talent when we signed him so on that basis the other players should be grateful we got a player of that quality on a comparatively low wage. just think joe cole is on £600 per hour.

Hamilton Saint Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 ... had an effect. to affect - verb to have an effect - noun

FloridaMarlin Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 If you believe there is a clause in Lambert's contract which says he will always be the highest paid player at the club, then Ramirez's wedge would not be the cause of Lambo's demeanour.
Dangermouth Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 No. Every player who talks about the club says he's good and they aren't likely to be on the same wage as Rooney (who they probably also think is good), even thought they'd like the paypacket. He was not so good partly on Monday because WBA double or triple-tagged him and as MS and the short, not very-good bloke from Northern Ireland didn't show for him very much he essentially got crowded out while looking for the (non-existant) pass. The forwards also didn't do much as everyone either ball-watched or ran away from the ball like they were 8 or 9 year olds. To effect (vb) - to bring into effect or make happen: To affect (vb) to alter, change or modify in some fashion. Now almost obsolete due to the preponderence of the wholly-inappropriate 'impact' (because all people can do is copy off wot they saw even if they don't know what it was, but everybody's doing it, right?). Over to whoever for the next lesson ... .

Should spur hom to do better really ? Perhaps he just has gone too far and this isnt his level ?
Saint Fan CaM Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 To answer the OP succinctly. Not a chance.

On the other hand maybe Rickie could just bring a DVD of his 92 saints goals in a 165 apperances and say "what the f uck have international caps got to do with it my goals have got you two promotions in three seasons"..............

Wade Garrett Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 I don't think Lambert's present state of mind has anything to do with any of the players.

Trumush Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 The guy is a quality 21 year old international. We stole him for £14m, and will double our money when we sell him. He was fantastic against Villa but then was injured in training. WBA was his first game for 5 weeks. Give the guy a chance FFS !!! I doubt his pay package has had an effect. Pedro Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 Did Lamberts high wages upset the other players when we were in league 1.

S-Clarke Posted 7 November, 2012 Posted 7 November, 2012 He is on around 30-35k per week, comes from a decent source. At a similar level to the rest of our top players, Lambert is close to that as well.

Lallana was very postive about him after the game, you cans ee all the players love having his class in the team - gives us a better chance of staying up and therefore the rest of the players a better chance of carrying on earning Prem money!

Avenue Saint Posted 26 November, 2012 Posted 26 November, 2012 Lol! Some serious poor judgement being evidenced through these resurrected threads. Very important in determining whose opinions are worth a read going forward...
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 26 November, 2012 Posted 26 November, 2012 Ramirez reminds me of Ekelund (in his prime) and remember MLT enjoyed playing alongside him more than anyone else. When Gaston scored yesterday all the players looked really pleased for him - if there is any dressing room disharmony then it wasn't apparent yesterday. He is real class.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 26 November, 2012 Author Posted 26 November, 2012 Lol! Some serious poor judgement being evidenced through these resurrected threads. Very important in determining whose opinions are worth a read going forward... This wasn't an opinion, it was a question...?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 26 November, 2012 Posted 26 November, 2012 Can we move all future DPS/Helen threads directly to the muppet show?
Olallana Posted 26 November, 2012 Posted 26 November, 2012 I think we can close this thread now. If you look at Gastons reactions when we score, when teammates miss chances it is genuin teamspirit reactions. I specially loved his cheers on the bench against QPR when we scored the third. He looks a really genuin bloke. Very unlike many other southamerican players in my opinion.....
