Saint Charlie Posted 6 November, 2012 Author Share Posted 6 November, 2012 the possibilities are endless. Maybe.. we should volunteer to go down to L2....or the Conferrence and entertain our fans by fighting our way back up three divisions ..like Rangers are doing in Scotland ..? Do you think we might get 31,000 to watch us play Salisbury ..... .or Eastleigh? Perhaps not ? We wouldn't be able to join another league this year as they are all full. The point of the idea is we forfeit for this year and join the Championship next year which is where we will be anyway, only this avoids humiliation. We could play friendlies between our U21s and first team and maybe some challenge matches vs teams who get knocked out of the FA Cup early. If so, we could target all our efforts towards that and win it.
Turkish Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Ok, think about this..... Saints withdraw from the Premier League with 28 games left to play. - TV Broadcasters from around the world take legal action over a breach of their contracted terms - Sponsors revoke money and income from Saints for breach of contract - Fans demand refunds on season ticket money. - No match day income and no more premiership money comes in. We cannot pay our wages, our staff. Withdrawl from the Premier League would mean Saints going out of business. You cannot separate the two, it is not an option. i think you might be taking this post a bit too seriously Colin.
PhilippineSaint Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 I guess we'd be setting a new record: the first team to be too s**t to finish a season. Hopefully that will be The Skates when they eventually get liquidated.
Dalek2003 Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Just don't want to be misinterpreted. I am suggesting that we drop out of the Prem, not that we go out of business. HTH - maybe a poll would be good, seems opinion is largely negative to the idea but there might be lurkers who agree and are afraid of being shouted down like I have. A classic ! Wish i had thought of this one ! Well done LOL !

Roosk Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 I think i follow your idea here Saint Charlie, actually now I see clearly where you've become confused but i have an easier solution for your problem - when i get fed up with Football Manager i just turn it off and start a new game, have you thought about doing that? david in sweden Posted 7 November, 2012 Share Posted 7 November, 2012 I wonder which is considered worse......being bottom of the Premier League, or bottom of L1?
Dark Munster Posted 7 November, 2012 Share Posted 7 November, 2012 Might seem radical, but should we ask the Premier League/FA if we can drop out the league for the rest of the season, and be inserted into the Championship next season? That way we would have approx 9 months to work on the training ground ahead of the start of next season, less chance of players getting injured and we could start afresh in August 2013 without the stigma of having been relegated? Of course some players might leave, but IMO it is the kind of radical action that NC need to take NOW if we are to trust him going forward? **Puts on tin hat**
Wade Garrett Posted 7 November, 2012 Share Posted 7 November, 2012 We would also go 9 months without income and cause the Premier League to break many tv contracts. It would kill the club. Thanks for pointing out the original post wasn't a great idea. And you gave reasons, excellent.

melmacian_saint Posted 7 November, 2012 Share Posted 7 November, 2012 We need a win. That is what I get from some of the posts that have been flourishing in this place.
Tony F Posted 27 November, 2012 Share Posted 27 November, 2012 OK - so we won 2 in a row. We already have 11 points, which equals Derby's "award winning" season. We are climbing the table so fast we're gonna get vertigo soon. After Sunday's win over the Geordies we are out of the relegation zone - but the problem is we're simply not mentally equipped for success. Wot do we do now? Tony F Posted 27 November, 2012 Share Posted 27 November, 2012 No, can't do that - that was the plan when we were sh1t. Can't have the same plan for two completely different scenarios Tokyo.

Saint Charlie Posted 28 July, 2014 Author Share Posted 28 July, 2014 Two years on from the initial idea and it probably makes more sense now than it did back then! How many player is the minimum we could hold in the squad?
Saint Charlie Posted 28 July, 2014 Author Share Posted 28 July, 2014 Even more so if Jay and Morgan go. Everyone says they prefer the Championship so could we maybe take Blackpool's spot?
