SaintNeil90 Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 (edited) This has to happen. We have the second worse defence in premier league history. If we continue at this rate, we will finish the season on 15 points. We are completely disorganised when we don't have the ball. Our new signings aren't improving the team enough, or at all. whether adkins or les reed or both go I don't care, but something has to change. Your clueless. Changing the manager will do absolutely nothing but upset everything we have built up over the last 2-3 years. We'll be back to square one; new formations, new style. Players will have to get used to all that. Sacking the manager is the worst way to solve our current situation. Its beyond me why people think sacking a manager is the answer. Personally I think its the only option simpletons can think of. Edited 6 November, 2012 by SaintNeil90

Saint Scott Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 SkyGraemeBailey has tweeted there will be an update on SSN shortly! They mentioned it about 20 minutes ago. The jist of it was that NA has told SSN that he hasn't heard anything from the club and is currently preparing the side for Swansea. They did say they'd have more later this afternoon which fits in with Graeme Bailey's tweet.

Convict Colony Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Really hope Nige gets through to Sat and we get a home win and kick on from there. However if not I would be keen for the club to look at Biesla given our "southampton way" methodology and his understanding of how we are trying to play, i really do think he could be achievable as a target manager given the below circumstances plus we would give him more funds and a new challenge in Jan and he would also buy in to building a unique football club that would play his way long after he retires a la Cruyff at Barca: Marcelo Biesla: Current Club: Althetic Bilbao who got to the final of the Europa cup last year. He is a former defender for Argentina, manager of Argentina and Chile at world cups (Chilean team was raved about a few years ago) so will get the players respect and attract new ones. He has fallen out with the President for selling Martinez and the fact that the new training facilites were not ready on time for pre-season, he blew a gasket and shoved the contractors (we could use him there as well) They are nearly out of Europe this year and most likely won't qualify for next year's He gets paid peanuts as coaches in spain outside of Barca and Real dont earn anywhere near as much as English managers. Based on what I've read he is excellent at getting the most out of players who are being played out of position something we will have to live with until Jan. Guardiola is one of his disciples and he went to Argentina to talk to Biesla prior to accepting the Barca post and calls him the worlds best coach. He likes to play 3-3-1-3 (3 Centre Backs, 2 Wing backs and a Defensive Midfielder, 1 Attacking Midfielder and 3 up front, which i think personally looks a good fit for our playing talent). He focusing on playing a high tempo pressing game (I know Adkins is trying to do the same but with a slightly different formation which is leaving gaps). Tactics: His signature formation of 1-3-3-1-3 would give us an extra man in defence with 2 rows of 3 rather than 5 (4 back line and spiderman). This will the compress the space when the balls enters our half of the pitch and it also the wing backs closer to the wingers and it could look like the following: Gazza Fonte - Hooiveld - Yoshida Clyne - Spiderman - Shaw/Fox Davis/Cork Ramirez - Lambert- Lallana Good coverage of his tactics - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1381408-why-marcelo-bielsa-employ-the-most-bizarre-tactics-in-football Excellent Tim Vickery piece http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/timvickery/2012/02/bielsa_bouncing_back_at_bilbao.html

Was at Athletic Club's ground last week, brilliant location slap bang in the middle of town and looks like a proper dive from the outside (couldn't go inside as the tours/ shop etc were shut due to their 4hr lunch break). Athletic Club are a huge club though, basically a national side (Basque) so would need a hell of an offer to get him here, also with the cultural differences, time to adapt formations/ players and the unwillingness of fans in this country to go anything other than 442 it would be tough to convince him. Considering that NC keeps his counsel very much to himself where has this journo got his information from??
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 If we go down with him in charge I have a feeling that he won't bring us back up. I can see us struggling to make the playoffs in the championship.
Turkish Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Really hope Nige gets through to Sat and we get a home win and kick on from there. This will the compress the space when the balls enters our half of the pitch and it also the wing backs closer to the wingers and it could look like the following: Gazza Fonte - Hooiveld - Yoshida Clyne - Spiderman - Shaw/Fox Davis/Cork Ramirez - Lambert- Lallana Good coverage of his tactics - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1381408-why-marcelo-bielsa-employ-the-most-bizarre-tactics-in-football Excellent Tim Vickery piece http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/timvickery/2012/02/bielsa_bouncing_back_at_bilbao.html Sounds great. Althought the bit in bold might be an issue!

70's Mike Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 We are bottom of the prem league , we have the worst goals against record ever , we have 4 points , we are easy to beat , we have spent 30 million on players , we are a joke! So being a simpleton when do you sack a manager ? After the end of this month, we have played all the top sides except Chelsea, no one who has experienced saints in the top flight before expected us to be in anything other than a relegation fight, problem is it looks like it will be down to the 15000 hardcore to lead the fight as the JCL start to moan
