egg Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 He would get us established a premier league club. He is too old to be considered the long term answer anyway. Don't disagree. I've said he'll benefit us short term. I'm struggling to think of a better option although my hunch is GS will come in.

Yes, i'm really struggling to think of a better one. The fanciful names like Benitez and Laurent Blanc apart. The ideal man for the job is Claudio Ranieri but cant see him leaving Monaco for a relegation fight.
doddisalegend Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Redknapp would probably work as a short term solution but he will want cash to spend in Jan .... biggest problem is there is a sizeable part of the fanbase who think he is a c unt and I'm not sure a divided fan base with boos ringing around SMS would help our plight much.. Saint Garrett Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 The last thing you want in a relegation dogfight is to split the fanbase. It would be a travesty if he was to return.

Personally I couldn't give a monkeys about the past. This is a results business andn we ain't getting them. Makes me laugh when people say they'd rather go down than han HR back but would pick Hoddle up from the airport.

Badger Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 I think some people need to forget the pathetic chips on their shoulders and consider whats best for the football club. IF Adkins was to be fired, there is nobody out there better than Redknapp, regardless of the past. I thought that in December 2004.

Is there enough for 'Arry "pass the enevlope under the table Mr agent man" Redknapp to work his cheque book magic?
ottery st mary Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Cortese should hold his nerve. As long as the players have confidence in Adkins he should be given time. Totally agree with this...So do my two daughters.....and they are never wrong.. We need to beat Swansea ...please put some red and white stripe shirts on .. Change of luck needed.. Redknapp NOT for me thank you...

influx Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Dunc, I have called for Hoddle several times. hmmm how is Hoddle going to do better than NA?? And with regards to his 2nd chance academy thing, how many players do you think have gone on to sign for a pro club?! Not many!! NA should be given to the end of the season. If we go down we have a manager who will get us back up, everyones a winner. Hoddle would just use us as a stepping stone, then leave us in the lurch againn. Now time for a personal insult......you are a prat!!

Now time for a personal insult......you are a prat!! Hoddle is very good at tactics and organisation, and has the clout to stand up to Reed and Cortese. He will do things his way. Yes, he may well use us, I content that the first issue is to rescue this season and worry about the rest of the bullsh*t later. I also wouldnt be so sure about coming back up quickly; I find that level of complacency astounding (as well as remarkable arrogance ignoring our own recent history). Have we learnt nothing from last time ? I dont know who you are, and you are of insufficient interest and importance, for me to expend energy considering if you are also a prat or not. saint_sinner Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Dont forget Redknapp was very undermined when he was our manager and had to contend with Rupert inflicting Sir Clive Woodwards amazing footballing intellect on Redknapps day to day activity. So if Nigel goes and he was appointed, Redknapp would still have to contend with someone who knows as much about football as Clive Woodward in Les Reed! God help us! IF Adkins was to be fired, there is nobody out there better than Redknapp, regardless of the past. Einstein's definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. If and when NA gets the boot I reckon his replacement will be from the continent - would be amazed if it was Redknapp. Would also not be surprised to see Reed as caretaker for a while if NC pulls the trigger. The Cat Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Word of warning... As someone who knows a few bookies, there are two markets they love: Next Manager First Goal Scorer. The longer he stays out of work the more money people lump on him to be the next manager of whichever team has just sacked theirs.
DT Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 For those suggesting Strachan I'd have thought he'd prefer to take the Scotland job, if offered. And football's changed a lot since last he was here/never go back. Redknapp might keep us up but also might break us financially. Stick with NA, rebuild, come back next time
Saint_clark Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Adkins and Blackpool would be a good match, imo. He's back on safe territory with a proven track record at that level, they get a superb manager for that level. NC gets rid of NA, no big payout due to amicable mutual separation recognising the achievements of their working together without rancour. Everyones a winner Apart from us. Would be perfect for Adkins though, no great expectations at Blackpool.

SaintRobbie Posted 7 November, 2012 Share Posted 7 November, 2012 I hope Nigel takes it. But, apart from Harry Redknapp I can't see another Premiership quality manager on the market who can attract players in January to get us out of this mess and get us firing again. Until NC decides he can leave he's not likely to go anywhere.
