We still created a number of decent chances away from home against a team who are having a great season, yes we were garbage but it's not all doom and gloom with a small dose of luck last night things could have been different handball deflected goal then we smack the cross bar at the other end pretty much sums up our season so far.

For god sake, another pointless thread just being miserable and spreading into others. I went to the game and the support was excellent, especially for Nigel, showing that we are behind him and the team. That's a positive.

Also, we are still creating chances. Obviously our defence is poor and we aren't going to win games 1-0, but as long as chances are being created, we still have the opportunities to win games and get points.

What does that mean. He was ****e last night

Ramirez that is

FFS he just made a return from a prolonged period of injury and we slaughter him because he gives the ball away a few times trying to create things? Give him a break. He's an exceptional talent, and a game closer to match fitness, and rediscovering his touch.

We looked pretty good, we didn't make a single "calamity moment" and we made some decent chances.

Doom and gloom after the first half of spurs or after West Ham is fine, but after last night it isn't. Other than just lacking confidence (and playing Rodriguez) we don't actually look a bad premier league side.

Quite. We didn't play too badly and were unlucky really not to have got at least a point from the match. Odemwingie got away with a blatant handball which was missed by both the ref and the lino. Had that been given, then it is probable that their first goal might not have happened. It was obvious that the ref had viewed it at half time and realised that both officials had missed it. Even then, having missed that, the goal was a bit flukey, as a deflection that otherwise Gazzaniga would probably have saved. Nothing really that could have been done about their second goal, as Fox was clearly identified as being at fault, but what exactly can you do about improving Fox anyway? But Lallana should have been awarded what was a clear penalty, which I am confident would have been put away by Lambert. Half chances which on another day would have been put away by us, together with the bad luck that went against us that I mentioned above, mean that 1 point was deserved and three points wasn't beyond the realms of possibility.

Positives ? One or two trip off the jolly old keyboard...

We are in the Prem.

We still have the bright young Manager that we craved for when we were scratching around in L1.

We still have the bright young Chairman we craved after the debacle/s of the previous incumbents.

We have a team that I still enjoy watching - one that has endured the toughest

opening schedule of any promoted team since the PL started.

We have an outstanding Academy - one that continues to produce future stars of the game.

We are Southampton. Simple really.

Well said that man! There are too many doom and gloom merchants on here. We might well have had the draw. We created a few good chances, hit the bar, were denied a penalty and their first goal should never have been allowed. I refuse to get worried until after Xmas. NA should stay.

Clear run all the way up there.

Met my nipper down who was from L'boro with a couple of his mates.

Nice hour in the Vine before the match, lovely drop of beer (but as a negative couldn't get near the indian bbq which looked brilliant).

Reasonable hot dog on the way to the ground.

Always good to see Saints play and be in with our generally excellent supporters (big negative, who were the 2 or 3 idiots from racist idiot tendency about 6 or 7 rows back down behind the goal?)

Enjoyed the banter and the singing.

Trouble free get away and incident free journey home (but miles, literally, of 40mph and 50mph restrictions on the M'ways last night. Home at 13-30!)

You meant on the pitch? Gazza looks v promising, Clyne is young and raw but has a great attitude, I love Yoshida's Desperate Dan style-defending, you won't find it any coaching manual but it's pretty entertaining to watch, Lambert hit the bar with his only meaningful action, that was about it positives-wise on the playing side.

Not a classic away day but about as good as it's going to get this season.
