jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Unfortunately I havent seen the last few games but I have read multiple posts referring to lambert as looking disinterested. If this is true then this is a real worry. If our most influential player has a gripe then fook knows what the team morale is like in general. Is it a case of he is just low in confidence like the rest of the team and is his body language is giving the wrong impression or do fans believe he is unhappy? doddisalegend Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 He was the same at the beginning of our second season in League 1 ...he was carrying an injury then and was unfit ....new manager turned him round.
Pilchards Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 The whole team are feeling it but IMHO Rickie is being treated strangely as Adkins does not think he's fit enough.

Tokyo-Saint Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 He reminds me of Grant Holt. I am not sure anyone has ever said that before but he really does, especially when we play in yellow and loro is commentating.
Pilchards Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Thought he was okay last night. How'd you know about Adkins thinking that. Lambert's had a chest infection for a while and Adkins was convinced he was not fit enough to play 90 minutes while Lambert totally disagreed with his decision to keep pulling him off. OldNick Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 disinterested!!!! I think a combination of frustration, disbelief, and anger. He was the most likely to score last night and his shot that hit the bar was sublime, most of our team wold have thrashed the ball into row f (i would say row z but the majority haven't the power in the shot to reach that far) Like a lot of fans i suspect he is confused why the forward who should be first name on the teamsheet has been looked over and subbed so many times. Supersubpuckett Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Understandable if he's a bit hacked off. Most teams in our position would build a team around Lambert, however we seem to have built ours around cortese
Saint Garrett Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 He hasn't been at the races for the last few months for whatever reason. Touch has been off and also seems to be drifting wide a lot like he did in Adkins first year with us. Thought J-Rod was again the better of the two last night. tajjuk Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 TBH he doesn't look fit to me, no where near as sharp or mobile as he was at the start of the season. If he's had a chest infection that's probably understandable.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 If Rickie is looking disinterested, its because it looks like he's being used more as a utility player. Rather than a striker, were was he when some of the crosses/corners were coming in. Not in the mix where you want him (header wise) but out on the edge of the box hoping for the ball to fall his way. But 99% of the time, West Brom defenders had cleared it way beyond him. So he's totally wasted out there, or on the wing where he tends to end up. shurlock Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Lambert was poor - not jumping, sloppy touch, slow to react when balls were played in. Jrod was also poor though he did more tracking back.

John McGrath's Jockstrap Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Well put it this way - given a choice of going on a coach journey to Birmingham with a cold, run around aimlessly for 1 1/2 hours, freezing your nuts off and come back on the bus with an atmosphere like a morgue, having been beaten again.....OR .......going to watch the fireworks, have a nice bowl of hot chilli, a few bevvies with your mates - which would you rather be doing?. Might explain the long face??.

shurlock Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 Right, let's go and play guly. The point I was making is that our midfield is too lightweight, static and isolated from the forwards (vindicated yesterday). I have no great love for Guly but he would bring a bit more presence in the middle of the park, is hard to knock off the ball and will play with his head up. Try it and see what happens - it can't be any worse than what we're doing at the moment.

Weston Saint Posted 6 November, 2012 Share Posted 6 November, 2012 I made some phone calls today and I can confirm Lambert is not disinterested. I can also confirm that the suggestions that Lambert did not travel with the rest of the team for West Ham is utter rubbish.

shurlock Posted 7 November, 2012 Share Posted 7 November, 2012 (edited) I'm beginning to think that quite a few of our players are devestated by our start, in particular those who've waited so long for PL football. You would think that would be a motivation in itself but watching us concede it's as if players then suffer out-of-body experiences and are powerless to effect the course of a game -not that we're only a quarter of a season through and we've shown we can mix it up. This is where a manager can make a difference. Edited 7 November, 2012 by shurlock
