Does Rickie Lambert really look disinterested?

Unfortunately I havent seen the last few games but I have read multiple posts referring to lambert as looking disinterested. If this is true then this is a real worry. If our most influential player has a gripe then fook knows what the team morale is like in general.

Is it a case of he is just low in confidence like the rest of the team and is his body language is giving the wrong impression or do fans believe he is unhappy?

Thought he was okay last night. How'd you know about Adkins thinking that.

Lambert's had a chest infection for a while and Adkins was convinced he was not fit enough to play 90 minutes while Lambert totally disagreed with his decision to keep pulling him off.

disinterested!!!! I think a combination of frustration, disbelief, and anger. He was the most likely to score last night and his shot that hit the bar was sublime, most of our team wold have thrashed the ball into row f (i would say row z but the majority haven't the power in the shot to reach that far) Like a lot of fans i suspect he is confused why the forward who should be first name on the teamsheet has been looked over and subbed so many times.

When was that? He must be better now then. Was that at west h away and Fulham home?

He hasn't been at the races for the last few months for whatever reason. Touch has been off and also seems to be drifting wide a lot like he did in Adkins first year with us.

Thought J-Rod was again the better of the two last night.

Absolute garbage. J rod was useless last night. Rickie had the goal attempts and was best goal threat. That doesn't wash. Rickie was better last night.

J-Rod did ok, it is a tough time for all the young players, especially when played out of their usual position

If Rickie is looking disinterested, its because it looks like he's being used more as a utility player. Rather than a striker, were was he when some of the crosses/corners were coming in. Not in the mix where you want him (header wise) but out on the edge of the box hoping for the ball to fall his way. But 99% of the time, West Brom defenders had cleared it way beyond him. So he's totally wasted out there, or on the wing where he tends to end up. :(

Well he worked his balls off last night and was by a long long way the best Saints player so make your own judgement

Well put it this way - given a choice of going on a coach journey to Birmingham with a cold, run around aimlessly for 1 1/2 hours, freezing your nuts off and come back on the bus with an atmosphere like a morgue, having been beaten again.....OR .......going to watch the fireworks, have a nice bowl of hot chilli, a few bevvies with your mates - which would you rather be doing?. Might explain the long face??.

Right, let's go and play guly.

The point I was making is that our midfield is too lightweight, static and isolated from the forwards (vindicated yesterday). I have no great love for Guly but he would bring a bit more presence in the middle of the park, is hard to knock off the ball and will play with his head up. Try it and see what happens - it can't be any worse than what we're doing at the moment.

I'm not sure that would help with a chest infection, but I could be wrong.

I made some phone calls today and I can confirm Lambert is not disinterested. He is absolutely devistated at our performances and position in the league. I can also confirm that the suggestions that Lambert did not travel with the rest of the team for West Ham is utter rubbish.

Did he have a chest infection? Is that reason he was dropped and pulled off?

I'm beginning to think that quite a few of our players are devestated by our start, in particular those who've waited so long for PL football.

We know the team is not good enough. I am sure the same is now in their minds. That is the biggest task Adkins and his backroom team have to overcome - the teams mind set!

You would think that would be a motivation in itself but watching us concede it's as if players then suffer out-of-body experiences and are powerless to effect the course of a game -not that we're only a quarter of a season through and we've shown we can mix it up. This is where a manager can make a difference.
