calm down dear, when I used the royal `we', I was generalising and besides you even agreed with my sentiment. Mind you don't ever fall off that horse, it looks terribly high.

For your interest I agree with all those reasons and personally enjoyed the Championship greatly and perhaps even more our time in League 1. However, don't kid yourself that all those reasons to like would go out the window for the vast majority if we were getting stuffed. I was at St Marys with the 13k others watching Sheff United rob us in a dour midweek game and it was plain for all to see that losing most weeks puts many fans off, no matter how cheap the tickets are.

What was not to like about that game? In the snow, blood boiling as their 10 men f**ked us on the counter after we had seemingly equalised in the last min. What supporting us is all about :)

Not too many fair-weather supporters there that night. I recall saying through gritted teeth to the two lads I regularly go with that you have to experience the lowest of lows to really appreciate the highs.

Jamie Ward scored the winner. Not sure Shipperly played in that game.

He still won't "get it" even when confronted with all these nonsense threads he starts each year.

Edit.

No, I won't say anymore, I said my piece in the other thread earlier, these other threads just prove it further.

Still think this Alps?

I think most fans would say they enjoyed the L1 promotion and NPC promotion more than last season, but perhaps the highlights last season (Chelsea, Liverpool ManC) were sweeter.

Just trolling opening up an old thread to have a go lock this as well mods ffs

Just highlighting the continuous drivel that Alpine spouts. He is happy to have strong opinions so has to accept he will get some flak for them, and its not abuse at all.

Not sure why you think you can ask Mods to delete stuff all of a sudden?!

This.

I don't often find myself agreeing with you Alpine but this describes my feelings on the matter quite accurately.

(BTW Apologies St Charlie if this wasn't the sort of response you were hoping for ;))

I think it depends on psychology. Whether you are the kind of fan who appreciates the game and the atmosphere or whether you think its important to be on tv, spend a lot of money, and be in the same room as Man U and Man C. I prefer the lg1 and championship campaigns and loathe what the Pl has become.

It's hard not to do it, because it does highlight just how ridiculous, ignorant and predictable he is, but there's one problem. It's what he wants. No grown human is that stupid, no-one is that much of a parody or has that little self-awareness. It can only be attention seeking, so every summer ending up with countless threads where he's the 'star'? Plus each summer we can add another thread to it. I'm guessing this is his best day of the year. It's a weird thing, and not something I've ever understood, but just look on Twitter. The world has plenty of people who don't mind if they come across as the thickest, most tedious, pointless troll ever, just so long as people notice them. It's a shame for him, a shame for this forum no doubt, but seems to be the reality.

Seeing as you singularly fail to understand my opinion it seems utterly ridiculous to assume you understand my motivation; You really come across as judgmental pompous excuse of an individual.

Yes, it is the attention seeking recurrent behaviour of someone fundamentally immature and unable to cope with things that may be different to their own desires.

He just doesn't learn. Has no interesting in learning, just wants attention, negative or otherwise.

Out of interest did you enjoy the 2008/9 season more than last season?

Do you actually loathe being in the PL?

Ha - I understand that, I agree with Alpine's point anyway on that one. But thats not what the OP says.

Why cant you discuss sensibly without all the inflammatory rubbish ? Now I know where the phrase "shouting down" is coming from.

I dont think it is clueless or ignorant. Back when we were in the PL at The Dell, the PL was a totally different beast and less money obsessed. You are comparing apples and elephants.

So we spent 30m this season. The top teams are spending many times more than that, before you even start thinking about wage bills.

We have a PL-representative stadium, and a competitve academy. The rest of the infrastrucutre and operation is championship level at best. Les Reed is heading up our scouting network, FFS. I'd rather have Lord Baden Powell, and hes dead.

And as for the snide comment above about me wanting prawn-sandwich-munching fans, the person who posted it has just about mis-interpreted what I meant about as far as he could. I meant our fans are TOO GOOD for the Premiership, where the fans are all middle-class wideboys and only sing when they are winning.

Classic!

Alpine if the club was "asleep in the summer" explain why they are paying for Mitchell and Green to be in Israel scouting the Euro under 21 tournament... ;)

Again, its too f**king late, and TOTALLY incompatible to MPs avowed intent of having everything stitched up by 1st July.

Yes, we should have asked UEFA to schedule the u21's for April.
