He also said there is a possibility that cork would be fit and he may come in and replace Lambert. Jay rod to start up front on his own if that happens.

Could imagine it being like this:

------------------------------Boruc------------------------------

Clyne---------------Fonte-------------------Maya---------------Fox

--------------------Schneiderlin-----------Cork---------------------

----------------------------------Davis--------------------------

------------Ramirez------------------------------------Lallana--------

-------------------------------Jay Rod-----------------------------

Looks like a good team to me! Would be good to see what happens with 3 proper CMs and 2 proper attacking wingers!

Personally would play Cork and Davis in front of Schneiderlin as a pivot.

Splitting hairs. Its a fluid midfield 3, all would have license to get forward, all would be detailed to defend. No need to be so rigid as to have a detailed water carrier; they can switch it about. The formation relies on the full backs to give the width; which is has done all season anyway. This way gives a bit more solidity to the midfield cover and puts our best players on the pitch together (apart from I'd have Lambert instead of Rodriguez).

Its similar to our style both under Alan Ball (with Le Tissier and Ekelund behind Shipperley) and under Souness (with MLT and Berkovic behind Ostenstad). I like it.

THAT team, in that line up..with possibly Lambert up front...and Mayuka in there at time...but THAT team, with THAT shape is what it is all about..

by far better than many teams that have come up and stayed up over the years....

all of a sudden, the bench looks haf decent too

Agree, looks solid but also has attacking flair.

Would have people like Cork, Puncheon, Mayuka, Lee, Lambert to come on and affect play.

That team looks good but only if you ignore the back five.

I'd go along with that..with Rickie coming on fresh in the second half.

If some of the people on this site could accept that Rickie doesn't HAVE to start every game, and that he could make a big impact coming on (as per Man.City)..things might be quieter on here.

There's nothing wrong with that idea in principle....(I notice there isn't big headlines every time Wayne Rooney is on the bench - and so it is for us)

.........Having spent all that dosh on Jay Rod, we've got to give him a go and he might start scoring regularly now ....

If that happens ...and we win everyone will applaud Adkins' great tactical move :D

They are the best we have for now.

Boruc will be fine, Clyne is decent and Maya has been useful - remember he is still settling into the Prem. New Cb and LB in Jan clearly.

Point is - Norwich or Reading couldn't field a front 6 like we can.

Jury's out on Boruc, and from what I've seen of Yoshida he is not Prem quality. Clyne I agree is excellent if inexperienced.

Still with Gaston we might win 4-3...

That's all very well when you've got Robin van Persie on the pitch..............or when you can rely on Javier Hernandez instead.................or even turn to England's Danny Welbeck. We simply don't have those options, and Lambert is considerably our best striker, so it stands to reason that we're weaker without him.

A friend has told me he will be in for puncheon otherwise the same lineup as last week. Feel sorry for mayuka.

I hope he means the line-up used in the second half against Spurs. If its the line-up from the first half then it won't matter that much Ramirez comes in.

I'm not a big fan of player playing out of position but would Cork at rightback and Clyne at leftback be a improvement on our defense from the spurs match.

Really? I think Yoshida has been head and shoulders our best centre back. Not that that is saying much mind.

You must not have seen him play there last season then !

Then the back 4 woud become over-run again as the opposition would have too much space in midfield. Personally I think we have been lacking 3 solid CMs who can all defend and control the midfield?

well that goes without saying, but despite out defeats we've had TEN different goalscorers in the Prem. already this season.

Yes Rickie 's got 4 of them (in the first 5 games), but he hasn't scored in the last 3½ games and we must give others a chance and not just hope he'll get one or two......thats not enough to win with our goals against average.

Good news but will still take Ramirez a game or two to get match fit, so not expecting him to turn on the magic right away.

Do you think if he's not be brilliant for 2 games then people will say they aren't convinced by him and we should bring back guly?

feck me..he has been sub or been subbed.......he wont score every game but he still remains our biggest goat threat and at the mo..our best creater of chances....no matter how you slice it, lambert is by far the best striker at this club
