Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 2 November, 2012 Share Posted 2 November, 2012 For me there are 2. Firstly, Bruce Hornsby and the Range - That's just the way it is. Mainly because I remember being about 8-14 and hearing this every Saturday on the way back from town on Solent as they reported that MLT had saved us again. Secondly, Kenny Dope Presents the Bucketheads - These Sounds (Da Bomb). Always used to play at the Dell in the mid 90's. Anyone else?

ericofarabia Posted 2 November, 2012 Share Posted 2 November, 2012 Really bizarre one - Puppet On A String, Sandie Shaw. When I was a mere ankle biter being taken along to The Dell - the music for pre match mid week night games seemed so much louder than daylight Saturday games - and they seemed to play The Euro Vision Songs each year, Patriotism? Two others from the same era that got a lot of pre match play and take me back were Those were the Days by Mary Hopkins and Bits and Pieces by Dave Clark Five. Finally not so much SFC, but more MLT - Unbelievable by EMF as in his DVD - now thats what I call music!!

ericofarabia Posted 2 November, 2012 Share Posted 2 November, 2012 For some reason that I can't remember the Banana Splits theme tune... Was it on TV before going to matches? The Dr Who Theme tune takes me back to eating Bacon Egg Beans and Chips on my lap watching Dr Who do battle with The Daleks about 6pm just back from the game at my Grandads house circa late 60's early 70's. sandwichsaint Posted 3 November, 2012 Share Posted 3 November, 2012 (edited) 'banana splits' was played at the Dell in the early seventies, I can hear it now being played before a game v Leeds (when Leeds used to field 11 internationals, as featured in the programme team line-ups). I remember being in a pub on the Seven Sisters Road v Spurs (79-ish?) when they showed the video of Thriller .. it had been released on the Friday night and this was the Saturday lunchtime and the whole pub stood transfixed (if you pardon the pun) watching it; it was the 'first' video of this scale/scope/budget ever produced and nobody had ever seen anything like it. 'Come on Eileen' / Dexy's away at Sheff Weds in the cup when we drew 0-0 (83-ish?). Can't remember who we sung it for or what the words were but I seem to have a memory linking that song to that game? Don't know who did the music in the stadium four or five years ago but they regularly hit the spot with lots of Clash, Smiths, Ramones. Remember walking up to a midweek league game in either bottom Champ or first season in lge 1 and being serenaded up to my seat by White Man In Hammersmith Palais (my fave record ever), surreal; it could never happen in the PL!
