Horton Heath Saint Posted 1 November, 2012 Share Posted 1 November, 2012 I think it is now time you make some kind of communication to the supporters of Southampton Football Club. I have supported this club for over 50 years.
Spudders Posted 1 November, 2012 Share Posted 1 November, 2012 Well done, I'm sure he's reconsidering his policy of keeping quiet now you've spoken out & started a new thread!
Matthew Le God Posted 1 November, 2012 Share Posted 1 November, 2012 A little vague... What do you what him to talk about exactly? (not that starting a thread will make the slightest bit of difference to him)

Colinjb Posted 1 November, 2012 Share Posted 1 November, 2012 Is that a euphuism? I dearly hope not! I have two chocolate chip ones left and would hate there to be an innuendo laced undertone!

Saint Fan CaM Posted 2 November, 2012 Share Posted 2 November, 2012 Hi Mr Horton - Nicola here. It's a real shame you've been so vague regarding what you would like me say, however I feel sure you are waiting for a statement regarding Nigel and his position at the club. I can confirm that as of tomorrow morning at about 10am, Nigel will be saying his goodbye's to SMS. May I take this opportunity to point out however that this is a normal occurence the day before an away match as he gets on the team bus. I can also confirm that the wheels are still firmly on the team bus and they are going round and round. Thank you for your continued support. Nicola. Scudamore Posted 2 November, 2012 Share Posted 2 November, 2012 Ah the old "an open letter..." style threads are coming thick and fast now aren't they? Pretty sure Cortese doesn't actually read this forum though thank god. And even if he does have people read the forums to get some feedback I'm pretty sure this thread wouldn't make the cut. John B Posted 2 November, 2012 Share Posted 2 November, 2012 I think it is now time you make some kind of communication to the supporters of Southampton Football Club. I have supported this club for over 50 years. I too have supported this club for over 50 years and agree that Cortese should start communicating. This man who takes 100s of thousands out of the club failed in his five year plan to get us to PL and consolidate the team there I know we got to the PL in three years which was fantastic but this has caused the problems we have today as the squad contains too many players which are not of PL standard and was evident last Tuesday at Leeds. If we had been in the Championship for a further two years we would have recruited better players and those already here would have become more experienced. However I realise that you cannot guarantee promotion in any season but as our transfer policy seems to have affected Nigel badly as the transfers he was talking about before the season started did not happen it would be a good idea to know what the clubs intended plan for the next five years actually is including the possibility of relegation and to mention who is going to own the club over that period

He failed us because we got promoted twice and unsurprisingly we were a little turd? Personally i like the fact he doesnt spout off all the time with the clubs plans, etc it'd almost be alin to showing your hand in poker. Plus he'd end up like dave whelan and simon jordan, a grade A pillock!

Name me a team that comes up to the prem that had not recently been relegated out of it that has loads of premier league players... None I believe we have a more talented squad than the likes of (when they were first promoted) Norwich Reading Wigan Wolves Hull Blackpool Stoke It was always going to be hard and I believe the manager should be doing better Bit failed.!!!!' eurosaint Posted 2 November, 2012 Share Posted 2 November, 2012 Cortese is 'damned if he does, damned if he does not' ! Whatever he says will be dissected with a fine tooth comb, much further debate will ensue (particularly on forums like this) and we will probably be no more informed than at present ! I remember when he had his picture on front of the match programme and he was slated for making himself look too important ("he thinks he is bigger than the club" was one comment!). There is also a saying that "wise men keep their own counsel", this seems to be his way, therefore it is difficult to criticise if he is quietly getting on with his job !!
