He cries when he listens to this song around rememberance Sunday. I saw a program on TV about it, and he was crying.

I saw that too, and until then I had never really even let the second verse of the song enter my head. I just thought, "Oh, it's that beardy bloke singing a silly song", but then I decided to listen to it. I must admit I had had a bottle of wine and I googled it on my phone and listened to a different version sung by Sinead O'Conner and it really did make the hairs on my neck stand up. (I got a watery eye too!)

Although the song touched me and made me feel sad it never made me want to get on my knees and suck on a sweaty penis before inviting a man to bend me over and do me up the gary glitter, not that there is anything wrong in gayers.

In Rolf Harris news, I can remember a boozy evening in Caersws watching Caersws play Aberystwyth. We were very drunk and sang a number of Rolf Harris songs. It was fun.

Johnny, I clicked that link and I too wept...with despair.

A great song ruined, that should be removed from the internet IMO.

The words 'Sinead O'Connor' and 'singing' should not be used in the same sentence IMO. She has to be one of the worst 'singers' to have ever walked this earth IMO.

The original is a classic IMO and I hope it gets to Number 1 again this year, I heard it played on Remembrance Sunday and had a little cry.

PS

I quite like Rolf Harris

Did you sing the rugby version of 'Tie me Kangaroo down sport'? Do you remember how it goes?

It involves some interesting behaviour with a wallaby, I believe.

The programme followed his father & uncles roles in WW1. He apparently did'nt realise how closely the song mirrored their lives growing up together and then going off to war and serving together and only one of them coming back. Even though it was Rolf whom i've many a time wanted to take out with a sniper rifle when he was performing at Glasto, it was quite touching.

I really wanted to see that programme. I just saw the advert for it and knew the bare bones of it.
