Saint Charlie Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 (edited) Could we do with Chappers in midfield on Monday to provide some bite and "GET INTO THEM". he might have been poor vs Leeds but his blood is red and white and his head bald. Or would we be better having Ramirez in there to provide some quality? Tough decision for Adkins. Here in Kharkiv, Metalist have brought Oleh Shelayev (old style harrying midfield battler) into the side after being out of favour and he has enabled the team to get some decent results after a poor run. Commitment or quality.... Edited 1 November, 2012 by Saint Charlie
Chez Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 Chaplow can't play in the middle. Touch and passing not good enough.
Restark19 Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 If he's fit then I'd definitely go with Ramirez, possibly Chaplow instead of Davis?
OVER THE HILL Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 Chappers in place of Puncheon perhaps .
Dig Dig Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 (edited) Chaplow all day long. We should bring back Hammond as well. Enough of all this nandy pandy powder puff stuff which you get with Ramirez and Lallana. It's about results not pass complete percentages FFS. Edited 1 November, 2012 by Dig Dig
buctootim Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 I was taking the mick with my Ramirez or Chaplow comment. I had no idea any would seriously think it was even a realistic choice. Ramirez is light years ahead
Saint Charlie Posted 1 November, 2012 Author Posted 1 November, 2012 I was taking the mick with my Ramirez or Chaplow comment. I had no idea any would seriously think it was even a realistic choice. Ramirez is light years ahead Obviously Ramirez should play if fit, but are we a good enough side not to include Chappers. As I said, Metalist Kharkiv recently brought Shelayev in from the cold (literally) and he has had a good impact. Maybe Chappers could provide the commitment and desire lacking from the left back spot?
Dig Dig Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 I was taking the mick with my Ramirez or Chaplow comment. I had no idea any would seriously think it was even a realistic choice. Ramirez is light years ahead We are far too open and Atkins needs to play a flat 5 in midfield and focus on clearing the lines and hitting the channels. Passing should only be done in and around the oppositions box not in the centre circle.
The Kraken Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 We should bring in de Ridder on the right for some much needed pace; Chaplow in the middle to run around a lot; a recall for Seaborne at the back to stabilise the defence; and the introduction of Luke Shaw at left back for some youthful vibrancy. That's what we need to do.
Saint Garrett Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 No Chaplow's running is just headless chicken running. There is no point having him in there despite the purple patch he had for us this time last year. We need to be able to retain posession in this league, and Chaplow just wouldn't do that.

Don't need to retain posession. We just need to get in teams faces, leave a foot in and hit the channels. This was my Sunday league teams tatics and we won loads of games. Atkins shouldn't need a psychology degree to know that.
Saint Garrett Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 Pretty much described West Ham's tactics.

S-Clarke Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 I thought Chaplow was in the team to provide bite and tenacity on Tuesday? Oh. At the end of the day, he's living off of a spell of 5 or 6 games at the start of last season. I don't think he's a PL player if I'm honest. He's not got the touch or passing quality to make it at that level, too easily beaten to the ball as well. One player I think we'll start seeing less and less of.
trousers Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 Has Miltonroader started hacking into other people's accounts?
REDARMY79 Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 Chaplow and De Ridder should stick to Tweeting. Its all they are good for!
Dig Dig Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 Has Miltonroader started hacking into other people's accounts? I feer harry will be in charge for saturday but maybe with some money in january we will be ok?
david in sweden Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 I listened to the Radio commentary from Leeds.which was a bit of a downer as they kept on about beating a Prme.side ......when we'd only put out our reserve side and several Academy lads on the bench ! ....there wasn't much good to say ....except that the Leeds guy said he thought that Chaplow was our best player on the night......the rest weren't worth a comment.

Your first two posts on this thread had me going 8/10 though - good humorous trolling!

A starter for WBA in your view then David?
Saint Garrett Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 They're used to watching Leeds. It's in their blood to appreciate players who run around a lot, leave a foot in regularly and play for the shirt despite having huge limitations with the ball at their feet.

Seem to remember similar boll0cks written about Prutton, and before him, Benali. Wonder if Prutton is out of contract and available ? In the absence of real skill we need someone to just run around a lot. And clap the fans. And get a ten match ban when facing a crucial relegation run-in.
Window Cleaner Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 See it was you all along!! sounds like a team a chairman might pick
Saint Charlie Posted 1 November, 2012 Author Posted 1 November, 2012 (edited) Corrected Pretty much. Whilst some might not agree on the usefulness of a hungry and tigerish Chappers patrolling the midfield minefield I think we all agree on that point. Edited 1 November, 2012 by Saint Charlie
jimbojones10 Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 I'm not sure i would even bother having champlow on the bench, he offers nothing apart from running around like a headless chicken alot. de ridder will be moved on in January as he offers the same as chaplow except he runs a little faster
Mattio Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 The refs in the prem seem a lot more whistle happy I doubt we'll see much football with him playing!
Jonnyboy Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 Put your hand across his hair, its Chappers Hmm, is that you Les?
Window Cleaner Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 Put your hand across his hair, its Chappers but what happened to his hair, that is the question . In the photo he's what 17/18 and now he has none at all. Is he a real slaphead or a wannabee slaphead.

Saint_lambden Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 He can't pass the ball to a member of our own team so no, he shouldn't play.
Turkish Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 I'd go with Chappers, get that mush Beattie back, HCDAJFU, he was good in the premier league for us and when he plays we'll be able to get it into the mixer a bit more with Chappers there to pick up the empties. I'd go for committed players everytime over quality ones. That's what makes English soccerballists so awesome.
The Kraken Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 We need to get pre-season reverted back to the times under Strachan as well. Sod all this heart-monitor and ice bath rubbish; get the players running up sand dunes and what not, run them until they're sick, then run them again. We'll be able to out-fitness every other team in the league.
Turkish Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 It's never been the same since we ditched the 6 mile preseason runs. Seeing those soppy mugs on their bikes in the Switzerland sun preseason made me feel sick. No wonder our defence is so soft when it;s not run in the rain for 6 miles in 10 inches of mud. That'll toughen these nancy boys up.
Halo Stickman Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 I'm hoping that the one positive to come out of Tuesday night is that our fringe players proved themselves so inept that NA will now be less inclined to bring them on at crucial times for our more effective players.
Turkish Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 I'm hoping that the one positive to come out of Tuesday night is that our fringe players proved themselves so inept that NA will now be less inclined to bring them on at crucial times for our more effective players. Guly and an academy player will get their guarenteed run out, dont you worry about that sunshine.
Window Cleaner Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 (edited) Sod all this heart-monitor and ice bath rubbish; get the players running up sand dunes and what not, run them until they're sick, then run them again. Arthur Lydiard used a system of that kind to produce some of the world's finest pre-dopage marathon runners. Not that he ever trained any of them on a regular basis but Jones,Jones,Smith and Spedding all used a Lydiarden system which often involved running hard till you dropped. Now a lot of the nancies stop running the instant that their heart rate monitor tells them that they're in the red zone. VectisSaint Posted 1 November, 2012 Posted 1 November, 2012 This was my Sunday league teams tatics and we won loads of games. Atkins shouldn't need a psychology degree to know that. Don't know who Atkins is, but good to know he has a psychology degree. Our manager Adkins has a degree in physiotherapy, but has some similarities to this bloke Atkins because he has a diploma in the same subject.
