S-Clarke Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 If we play like we did in the first half against Spurs, we will be down by February on single figures. Play like we did in the 2nd half, and we have a chance. But alot rests on how in touch we are come January, and what players are available for us to strengthen. There's still a long way to go, but you get the feeling a rot is setting in.
Saint Paul C Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Yes, because I think that we're the 4th worst team in the league. I can see us finishing above QPR, Reading and Norwich or Villa.

jjsaint Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 No. Not if we don't start picking up points soon, otherwise we'll be adrift at the bottom. 2 points between us and 17th, and when that gap becomes 3 with goal difference it gets worrying. red&white56 Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Current form suggests not. After spending £30 million in the summer what's left to finance a new defense in January??? I'd rather go down than do a Pompey - I love having the moral high ground on the Skates and would protect that above PL status.

Roger Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Very upsetting at mo. after two good seasons it looked promising. God knows what we do next but would be surprised if cortese puts up with it much longer. Only thing is can you see cortese working with red knapp, hoddle, strachan, Benitez? Mind you both corteses managerial picks have been English so far and pardew was a string character so maybe he's more adaptable than we think. Pamplemousse Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Stick with Adkins, sign some defenders in January and we'll be fine IMO. Prediction - We'll go unbeaten in the whole of November. You heard it here first

Georgie Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 If Ramirez comes back and stays fit, and we get some decent defenders in jan then yes. speed demon Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Yes. By the time Feb comes around there will have been wholesale changes at this club regarding players, backroom staff and Manager. Not ITK but that is my prediction. As it stands we are ******. What we are all banking on more than anything is the decisions NC makes, that determines where we end up logically. alpine_saint Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 I've a feeling Saints will stay up. There's always a few teams who have dramatic changes in form, perhaps it won't be Saints but the ingredients seem to be there....a defence that can't get any worse and plenty of attacking talent. So who knows. Really wouldn't want to put money on it either way. People write off teams every year and usually end up looking daft. Same way many say a team is safe before they slide down the table. Will be interesting to see what happens. U sure about that ?

badgerx16 Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Yes - but it might be by the thinly stretched skin of our teeth. I've seen too many 'great escapes' by teams apparently cut adrift to think that it's all over just yet.

max_saints Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Not. A. Chance. if you truly mean and believe it when you say 'not a chance' why not just withdraw all your money and stake it on us going down, much better than the interests at the banks. not even a gamble, not a chance = 100% chance of collecting come end of the season, heck maybe earlier if bookmakers decide to pay out early. NickG Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 if you are looking for a positive and a reason why we will stay up..here it is... Not. A. Chance. ..he's usually wrong! Goes without saying that carrying on we will go down....thats what the league table is. BUT...for big periods we have played very well. We are not likely to get many draws and scrape tight wins. What we will do is win games...like Villa. We are set up to get some decent wins at home. Beat bottom half teams at home and we will be ok. Difficult thing for manager is that so many of our defeats are due to 5 or 10 mins of madness - arsenal, Man U, WHU, Everton. I am worried about the space on the left with Fox and Lallana. Only home game Ramirez has played in - easy win. Get him fit for some winnable home games and could look very different. Think Ramirez and Rodriguez can earn they fees this season. Gut feeling...stay up. Stick with NA.

lordswoodsaints Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 We should and could be in a similar position to west ham but because we are **** we are not...crap tactics, stupid substitutions, championship standard players, clueless defence,3 different keepers and a manager who's clearly losing his marbles will cost us dear. Monkou Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 I'd say we will stay up - Have seen us in a worse position than this in the past. We have a good attack, competitive midfield and poor defence. If we can scrape a few wins with Ramirez back through till Jan and then buy some experienced ex-prem defenders we should be ok. Those who have made the point that there are at least 3 teams worse than us in the league are absolutly right - but that counts for nothing unless we start concentrating for 90 mins. CWD Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Yeah I think we will. There's a hell of a long way to go and we can't carry on this form. Get Ramirez back to add a bit of creativity to our attack, get a settled first 11 and cut the ridiculous mistakes. On the whole fans don't really appreciate 'form'. I'd like to remind people of the classic thread from a couple of seasons ago entitled "time to accept we won't get promoted...", which appeared just before one of the best runs of form in the club's history. Get behind the team, get behind the manager, and we can turn our form around.

Saint Lindford Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 I do think we can stay up. We have a run of very winnable games coming up and IF we can get 2 or 3 wins then the confidence comes back. Look at the performances against City, Utd and the 2nd half performances against Vile and spuds and there is a good team there somewhere. We have the ability within the club to finish above QPR, Dreading, Norwich and Wigan at least. Blunderland can't score goals atm (only 6 so far) so they have problems, the same could be said of Vile. At least we are scoring goals, there are only 6 teams who have scored more than us so far this season. Keep the faith, sacking NA is seen by some, maybe a lot, of fans as the way forward but I honestly think that it could be a backward step. We need stability as a club not upheaval yet again, look where 11 managers in 6 years got us!

Mr X Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 No we are playing the poorest football in years the players look very low on morale the manager looks out of his depth and we simply aren't good enough. another we are in a relegation battle already! Special K Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 No, we will be relegated. A quarter of the season gone already and with the points we have, the Club will need a huge change in fortune to end up out of the bottom three. Can't see it myself, unless the slide of form is arrested and reversed completely during November and December. There are games we could win in that time, but i don't think we will be good enough to muster enough points before Christmas to provide a platform for the second half of the season. Playing catch up will add it's own pressure and there doesn't appear to be the strength of character and vital experience in the squad to cope with it. sammysaint Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Next 2 games are the key if we can get 4 points that will put us in a good postion, even if were 3rd bottom by goal difference, we need to stay within 5 points of 4th bottom between now and jan, then buy 2 defenders in jan and push on from then. docker-p Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Depends if Cortese and Reed listen to Adkins this time when the transfer window opens. He said he needed defenders but Clotese and Reed failed to bring anyone of sufficient quality. If Adkins gets the players he wants, and not the ones Reed and Nicky want to sign, we have a chance of staying up.
madruss Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 We've got ramirez to come back, J-Rod is getting better with every game, the fixture list is starting to get kinder and November will be defining. I think we'll stay up, and I'd put money on it too. Honestly, I genuinely believe that the majority of people on here have completely forgotten what it was like when we were last in the prem.In our 13 previous seasons in the league, we would lose more games than we won in all but 2 of those seasons. Yes, we've lost a hell of a lot already this year but mostly (bar 2 teams I would say) against the teams we were always.fookin.losing.to when we were last in this league. The games against the teams around us will decide it. Like they always did
