Look, it will be Gordon.

If Wonga Cortese does sack Nige tomorrow there really is only one man he can parachute in to bring the fans together....and, conveniently, organise a team robust enough to stay in the division.

It's going to happen, not least because WGS had some monogramed SFC tracksuits delivered to his house only three short years ago, according to the ITKs on hereof course.

This is happening.

The wee man cometh.

Not a resounding success at 'boro was he ?

When he came in last time, he was able to bring in two players to have an immediate impact on strengthening the team and taking his tactics on to the pitch - Telfer & Williams - arriving now, he'll have the same dross available to him as NA, unable to recruit until January.

I believe we have better players than paul telfer and paul williams...I really do

Cant imagine he'd fit the Barcelona model of playing good football on the floor with flair players and bringing through the youth. If the chairman is committed to this, whether we stay up or not, then I don't think he'll bring him in. I think it's more likely to be a european manager.

Probably with no experience of the Premier league - not a great prospect. As Benitez is unrealistic, wonder what Christian Gross is up to these days ?

He'd just relegated Cov when he came to us last time. Boro didn't work, but so what. He's the stop Arry candidate who can get the fans on board.

Come on Spoony, give it to Gordon! (if there is a vacancy of course.)

The same WGS that would have been sacked if he had not have conviently walked himself .... Anyone care to remember Leicester at home that last season ???

....anyone care to remember us being fourth at Christmas?

He wasn't going to be sacked. Jesus.

No denying it all went stale though is there ?

Personally, and no evidence, but my gut thought at the time was that the Strachan to Leeds issue - and the club's silence on it - soured relationships.

By default, 'he's not 'arry 'so WGS would be preferable , but WGS returning does not inspire as it should.

My view is to stick with NA.

But if NA walked then of course Glenn Hoddle would be the perfect replacement if we want a fighting chance of staying up !

Not averse to that, but in all seriousness, is Hoddle still up to it ? As he's done bugger all for a few years.

Good point. I think he would have to take us down before building us up again, which i think NA could also do so unless NA walks we should stick with him.

I am not sure whether Glenn has still got it in him though !

If so I'd give him a wide berth. Problem here as I don't think he , or many of the other names touted would stick around if we went down, leaving us back on the rebuild route again.

People shouldn't forget that WGS came from not being able to successfully renew a Coventry side heading for PL decay. Of course he learned from the experience and when faced with a similar challenge here and nailed it (I still think we would've made it to Europe had he remained in charge). And whichever way you look at it, apart from maybe Beattie, perhaps Niemi and very unlikely but possibly Killer there was not a single player of our usual starting 11 back then that was/is individually better than most if not all of the one we have today.

However things were different back then. We were an established PL club, and that changes the mood of things however you look at it.

Really not sure, rather stick with Adkins and keep WGS and a great person that will always be remembered in our club and city.

Gordon's not the answer but I do know he would have used last nights match to get the first team players playing how he wanted. Adkins, not only had us thrown out of the Cup, but threw away a golden opportunity to tweak Sundays team into winning a game.

I can remember Gordon arranging closed door games, Charlton comes to mind, but it worked and got back the players confidence. All I read is players being given time off, taking holidays when the free time could be used to get things right.

Here I am agreeing with you (in principle at least). CB,

....but I don't believe either thing will happen ..not yet, at least.

I think Nigel hasn't used up his nine lives yet, and after his experiences with Rupert Lowe...... the closest Gordon is likely to want to come to SMS is a seat in the stand.
