Saint-Armstrong Posted 30 October, 2012 Share Posted 30 October, 2012 Summary of NA's interview: Not a fun night Don't think it was a penalty Isgrove was a bright spark and positive for the club Jos got caught out We set our stall out We tried to be positive and utilise width and pace I must take full responsibility I made 11 changes, you can talk about it all day long - we played 48 hours ago and have to consider recovery process Playing those with something to prove Playing our youngsters to give them the chance to be 'right' for the football club Of course this matters - we are playing for Southampton Football Club I expect performances After tonight, there will be consequences for that performance It is my responsibility - that team should be able to win, but it is my responsibility I tried to give some players without game-time an opportunity People will always talk (about me), but stability is important at every level - we want to be successful The chairman will decide what is right for the football club Our relationship (NA and NC) has to be right and correct We need stability but cannot keep losing games like that We must address issues for the sake of Southampton Football Club and the supporters who have always been superb to me All I want is the best for Southampton Football Club I don't want to be anywhere else, I want nothing more than for SFC to be successful - and be successful together I love Southampton Football Club Also was asked... Blackmore: "In fairness, you're saying you accept responsibility - but there were a lot of senior players out there to take responsibility...?" Adkins: "Yes." SaintPC Posted 30 October, 2012 Share Posted 30 October, 2012 Sounds to me like he knows that he doesn't have a lot of time to sort it out and simply doesn't know what to do to get the players motivated. I honestly don't want him to go but he has to have the means and thought to change things when it's not going well. You cannot just keep sticking your head in the sand and not changing one up front when you are 1-nil down. Having said that, the players need to have a bit of intellect to change tactics when you have not had a shot on goal all game.

wild-saint Posted 30 October, 2012 Share Posted 30 October, 2012 Said nothing new. Mind you the questions were not difficult!! Why do we insist on playing a formation that results in defeats!!??? with the players we have available, what formation would you play that ultimately changes our side into a winning team? im not sure we anyone would be able to do much with the back four and as such is pretty pointless to make a change. a couple of decent defenders sigend in january and the side would look far more balanced and far better than bottom 3 material imo. the question is whether NC has an itchy trigger finger. personally id keep adkims for the entire season regardless of results as i feel the team is in transition as it evolves into a prem side. i just hope we stay in touch untill jan. Dalek2003 Posted 30 October, 2012 Share Posted 30 October, 2012 NA has to say things like the 'game mattered' but in reality it did not. We just have to see this season out. The league is what matters and we have to stick with NA and remember that we can bounce right back if we get relegated. We have a 'yoyo' strategy in place ! Weston Saint Posted 30 October, 2012 Share Posted 30 October, 2012 Not sure why posters think Cortese will sack Adkins. Cortese has always made it clear the league is a priority Our first team played a tough league game only 2 days before We already have injuries to key players. Cannot afford more. Chance for club to look at fringe players and some of the future in tough game rather than practice matches or development games. Some were found wanting and it will give an idea where we need to cover in January Give the man a chance. He deserves at least that. We will not find stability if we keep sacking Managers. Why do people keep referring to January as our saving grace? it will be too late by then. i love adkins but it is clear he is out of his depth and no one can honestly hand on heart be confident he will change our fortunes. yes our back four + keeper(s) are nowhere near PL quality but that should have been dealt with back in the summer. Badger Posted 30 October, 2012 Share Posted 30 October, 2012 Summary of NA's interview: [*]Jos got caught out [*]I made 11 changes, you can talk about it all day long - we played 48 hours ago and have to consider recovery process [*]Playing those with something to prove [*]After tonight, there will be consequences for that performance Also was asked... Blackmore: "In fairness, you're saying you accept responsibility - but there were a lot of senior players out there to take responsibility...?" Adkins: "Yes." Jos - caught out is becoming a regular feature It does appear some had the chance to prove something and did not, and as per Dickson last season, I suspect several are now unlikely to be given the chance again.
