CB Fry Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 What if Ricky had been thrown on for 20mins and got injured? You'd all be slating Adkins then. What if Ricky has been thrown on for 20 mins and then scored twice and we win the game?
JRM Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Because its all about the premiership (money). I'd love to play our strongest team in every match but how many premiership teams actually do? players pick up injuries in training as well, resting them in these games is no guarantee they'll be fit for the next match. last season we played 46 league games, this year we will have 38. i can understand the top teams resting players. 38 league games, number of cup, champions or Europa League, plus significant number of their players get international call ups, meaning their squad will play several more games a season than ours will. we are stupid for not identifying this cup as a good chance of success, and the fans are being mugged putting up with it. No reason not to play players just becuase something might happen. I expected changes to the team but it would have made sense to have some 1st teamers on the bench to bring on if we were losing rather than just kids IMO

Exactly were not Man U or Chelsea realisticaly our biggest chance at silverware and a shot at europe is in the cups no reason not to at least give it a go. eurosaint Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 I always have total respect for our loyal supporters who travel long distances and particularly for midweek matches ! I am however a bit surprised that : a) Anyone expected a strong first team, 48 hours after the previous game! b) Expected no wholesale changes in the league cup as we had already done it in previous rounds ! c) Expects a refund after a dismal defeat ! Sad as it is, the reality was always there in advance of the game and (although natural to be angry and disappointed!) it is part and parcel of football today ! Window Cleaner Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 Pfff If I had a refund of ticket and expenses for every garbage Saints performance that I've attended I could retire to the Bahamas. Rubbish teams are an occupational hazard of the ardent football supporter.
CLOTH EARS Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 (edited) Old Sarum wrote.... Can't see what the fuss is al about It was obvious we would play the reserves as we did against Stevenage and Sheff Weds I suppose you all want refunds for those games too! I say You are missing the point. I think you can get away with it at Stevenage, but Leeds are a stronger team than Stevenage in my opinion and we 'should' have picked better players, especially as we were playing at a hostile Elland Road. We threw away a chance of a quarter final place with that line up last night and i think that is simply not on!!! If we get beaten at West Brom it makes a mockery of resting those players. We could've won with a stronger line up and give ourselves a shot in the arm.......but we blew it by picking that line up. Saint_lambden Posted 31 October, 2012 Share Posted 31 October, 2012 I went last night. I can accept making 11 changes because as Adkins said, the team he put out SHOULD be capable of giving a fairly average Leeds team a game. But the fact we didn't have a shot on target all game and it took until the 74th minute to have even an off target shot is beyond pathetic. No point debating a refund because myself and the other souls who had to put up with that mediocrity won't get one. Put the £20 towards clearing some dead wood and getting a half decent defence in January. Maybe even a new manager at this rate.
